I wasn't there at the fight but I've seen Despot go yellow with plenty of pets on before so I figured I'd explain what happens with game mechanics.

When hate is spread out among alot of people/pets/avatars what have you instead of solidified on a couple of tanks the mobs calculation of hate is so random that it will often switch around and breifly go yellow because it takes a second for it to get hate on another pet/avatar/person. It is for the most part unavoidable and isn't an issue with pet swapping (which has a different reason why it goes yellow which is equally stupid because if a mob is chasing you around and you have hate SE should make it so it stays claimed until your hate on it is reset). The only way to stop this is to have a couple people pull despot up front /nin and kite him around poles which just shouldn't be necessary. This happens maybe once or twice a despot I have noticed.

If they Invicble + Cure spammed that is really just lame, unless you want to be cool like in '05 and steal people's Leaping Lizzys. Yeah thats what I want to be apart of. Just means more /blockaid which we only use against RMT really and it is just sad that we have to take that precaution in sky...on despot...with a NA ls, I won't even call them legit because for the most part we have gotten more respect from RMT.

I do not believe taking an NM when it is yellow because an LS is straight up losing is wrong, if anything you are doing them a favor. This case is straightforward though: a legitimate LS claims Despot, there is an inevitability in game mechanics that no one can really control unless we straight tank Despot (even in some cases a straight tanked mob will go yellow as has been noted) and therefore another LS exploits that to steal an NM. Straightup there is no sugarcoating that.

If you like being a part of an LS that has little respect for others and is just crawling around without ambition stealing Despots keep your pearl otherwise drop it and save some face.

Sanoske and Anekei you guys are probably the only reason I didn't often openly bash SE and CST here but this is just ridiculous you are to good of players to put up with this crap or be associated with it so drop your pearls.

It may be a bit belated, but I just wanted to add this for the people who are arguing that the Flock should have taken extra measures to prevent Despot coming unclaimed:

I've had my xp mobs come unclaimed on me mid-Rampage with Dia up, just because my pet died. Tell me what "extra measures" should be taken to avoid that.

It's bullshit, plain and simple. BST is massively disadvantaged in fighting any NM that takes more than one pet due to this bug. Maybe you think it's fine to exploit that disadvantage; and if you go by the "letter of the law" so to speak you'd be justified. But it also speaks worlds of your character, so don't be surprised to have people going all Code of Hammurabi on your ass.

It's a despot. It pops every 3 hours. Just keep it red better next time. Make sure whoever's pet has hate on it doesn't swap immediately. Make him stay it until despot's on another target before you swap.

Because in our first week we did something not very cool on Xolotl? I don't even remember those details other than you and two others running around Chasm with Xolotl.

Usually we have enough up there we arent even swapping pets.

If I'm going to weigh the pros of getting Despot stolen once with enough people up there out of ALOT of despots vs. doing sky the normal way and have to deal with constant bitching and gear whoring I'm going to take getting Despot stolen once.

Only the job changes not the people, if your people gear whore as normal jobs, they will do so as BSTs. It just protects you from this, even if you have a full time tank that would keep the mob red for you, with an RDM and WHM.

Apparantly the mob turns yellow from hate switching pets.
