Batallia Downs

Who the hell are you to dictate what people sell?
*Puts 30 lizard skins on my mule in Bat downs*
And im not leaving till they are all sold

As someone mentioned before, the smart people put the most prevalent items in a search comment there to help others take notice. I always check the search comments first because usually the RMT aren't smart enough to do that and you know that the person that's selling the stuff actually has some intelligence. And of course it saves me the time sometimes of checking 50 people before finding what I need.

What would be nice is if people who were bazaaring Dynamis currency had a separate bazaar region from the people bazaaring misc stuff. I, personally, have no interest in the currency, and it makes up about half the bazaar population. I'm sure people who are only interested in currency wouldn't mind having it focused, as well. Sort of like the forums - one topic becomes enough of a majority in a big forum, it gets its own subforum.

We all know that bazaaring in Batillia Downs is common practice. Everyone has their reasons to do it, whether it be to avoid the tax in the cities or to AFK in commonly browsed place is neither here nor there. I personally bazaar there because I can move my stuff easier while I sleep and I can't AH it. I'd like to say this though, if you're bazaaring useless shit, please GTFO.
I don't want to see level 10 NQ gear. AH it or npc it.
I don't want to see lizard skins. AH it or npc it.
I don't care about your damn Tarutaru Rice Cakes. NPC or drop that shit.
I could care less about your damn water crystals. NPC that shit.
I don't care if you hit level 100 cooking and made some Wizard Cookies. Put that shit on AH.

The only things that deserve to be bazaared in Batillia Downs are:
Pop items (sky gems, sea organs, codexs, eye clusters and so on)
Rare HQ items or for that matter rare NQ items (-1 cursed gear, Genie Weskits, Blessed Mitts +1 and so on)
Rare drops (Speed Belts, Novio Earrings, Kracken Clubs, and yes even an Osode and things of the like)
Non-AHable items (mannequin parts and so on)

So I say this, to all those who have level 1 mules in Batillia Downs with shit like insect wings in your bazaar, go the fuck away. When I'm there I'm there for business whether it be buying or selling, I really don't care if you have useless shit in your bazaar because if I wanted it I'd buy it off AH not from you toon that's cluttering up an already crowded area.

1) "Everyone has their reason to bazaar" as quoted from you so I see a contradiction.

2) you said you don't care and that You would buy it from the AH.
O.K, good for you. other people do what they want, stop bitching.

you don't think your the only one who thinks the same way?, deal with it. its a fucking game...

Have my babies please?..

Actually make the bag above peoples heads different colours for more serious sellers..

Blue for 'only displaying red roses or that bronze sub my beloved gave me back in 2005'

Green for minor sales 'anything 20k or less'

Red for more serious sales.

That way at least once people saw yet another Red Rose holder they could pass them by quickly.

Except you don't go to Batallia downs to buy wind crystals. The problem isn't so much any issue of what is and is not allowable, but what makes sense. The original reason for bazaaring in Batallia downs was to avoid the heavy taxes of Jeuno and gather in a single place to make it easier on bazaar checkers. If you gather a bunch of morons all selling 5 gil items, you'll deter business away from Batallia rather than promote it. The more junk bazaars people see, the less apt they will be to check as often or even bother checking. While you may be thinking to yourself, "it's not my problem, who gives a crap?", it is your problem. The next time you need to sell that rare synth or expensive NM/BCNM drop, you're going to have trouble because less and less people will look through your bazaar.

Think of it like this, next time you go to the mall, check out the layout of a large scale mall. You'll notice the high end stores tend to gather in one section of the mall while thriftier stores on the other. You won't find a Dollar Store between the Gucci and Armani store and there is a reason for that, the customer is going to be looking for expensive high end items in one general vicinity of each other and having them in close proximity is easier for them. That dollar store will be in another mall where the customer expects it, next to a radio shack or small game store where someone is going to want and expect cheap nicknacks.

If you're going to be bazaaring a lot of cheap items, sell them where appropriate, in a place where someone is in need of them. Sell bat wings next to the Alchemy guild or the NPC for that repeatable quest. Sell crystals in guilds where they are commonly used, it makes far more sense. I'm not going to go to Batallia downs to check 50 bazaars so I might save myself 100 gil on a stack of crystals, it's just not worth my time.

Conversely, those smaller shops are still in the same mall. Your mom'n'pop bazaars are going to try to get closer to the big-ticket bazaars because that's where the traffic is, and they can hope for someone making an impulse purchase.

"Come to think of it, I really could use a stack of Wind Crystals and some Insect Wings while I'm here."

Good point, but I don't think average FFXI players will go that deep into marketing as those store managers in a mall.

Maybe less serious seller can do bazaar in R.Field?

I understand but there are somethings you have to put into account.
I know I don't go to batallia downs to bazaar low items, the AH was always a source for me but there are people who do and you just have to face the fact that they do and face the fact that people still bazaar shitty items.

What spalko said about people being as organized as Mall store managers, It's never going to happen in FFXI even if someone trys to get it; simply, people are ignorant and keep to themselves sometimes and do what they want.

It all comes down to deal with it. Suck up and bazaar in downs or somewhere else with a search comment maybe. People will still buy your stuff but I know they'll hate it when they look at someones bazaar and go "... wtf?". Like I said, Deal with it. you'll still get shit done.

God no, we don't need more lagtastic zones.

The number of those bazaars in Batallia is so high that it still takes a good 3 min for the xbox to load them all up on the TV. While looking through the bazaars is tedious, it does give me the opportunity to actually browse thoroughly without them changing gears on me.

I have no problems with people selling miscellaneous things in their bazaars in Batallia but thats because I don't go there on a regular basis. I do recognize the same players who sell dynamis currency or some hakutaku eyes or shrimp lanterns.

Some items are over-priced, some are pretty much the same as the AH and some are up for a pretty good bargain.

I only go to Batallia if I have alot of time on my hands so that I can windowshop around lol.

Keyword: Try. The mom'p'pop shops will never ever be able to afford the rent to be able to park next to any of the high end stores. Sometimes it's nice, but when you're looking for 200 dollar jeans, you don't suddenly think to yourself, I need $2 belt to match with it, do you?

The idea I was mostly trying to convey is it's in the best interest of both parties to bazaar in the appropriate space. Batallia downs is rarely the place you look for cheap items, its where you go for high end expensive ones. If I am looking for cheap items, it's probably easier and more time effective to check AH. If I need bulk or I suddenly forget a key synth item, sometimes a smart bazaarer parks in the guild for a quick and easy sale. It's the same thing with silver imperial coins, if you want to sell them, the best place is right in front of the warp taru. If you want to sell lots of gold ores, you stand in the goldsmithing guild. Iron ores, smithing. Etc. Location is very key and for many, Batallia downs just isn't the appropriate location.

i found it kind of amusing that you place the word Appropriate in there. This reminds me of the time when Jamal said if you aren't lvl 75 then it is NOT appropriate to be in the DA.

I've bought several under 1k items in BD. If i see a stack of insect fletchings down there for cheap i buy them, if i see something i might need in the future for CC..... LIKE Grass thread i buy it down there. So you see there is a market down there for small bid items like this, i agree that people who only put 99,999,999 items down in BD should have common intellect to not be down there, but again they have every right as the person putting 3 Cursed Cuirass to be down there.

And for the record, you can buy alot from a mom and pops thrift shop. I found a nice belt in there, as well as a few nice vintage shirts. Abercrombie isn't the only place to find nice clothes now a days.

And I'm the one that can't let things go...right.

PS: I actually said if you weren't camping it you shouldn't be there. And I was right then, and still I'm right now.

I like how people to tell others to stop bitching on the flameboard.

Why did you come here? What did you expect to find?
