Bayonetta

It's made by the same guy who did DMC, and this is more in line of what he wanted DMC to be; so it's much more of an evolution of DMC than just a meere clone. Try playing the demo, it's out on the Japanese PS3 store, it has been for over a month now. The game's worth it, although apparently no game is worth the money to you lately.

I was just thinking that, out of like, the last 5 recent game topics, Elemmire has said that no game is worth the money. Meh, hoho, whatever. Just because it's of the same genre I wouldn't call it a clone, it's similar because of Hideki Kamiya's previous work on Devil May Cry, but it's got it's own things to it. Besides, that's like refusing to buy a sequal to something because the prequel already did what the sequal is doing, just with less features.

You do realize EVERY game is a clone of some other game or parts of other games right? Make a better excuse, go with the whiny "its too sexy to play" one.

well I am trying to be more spend conscious than my impulse buys I have sometimes x.x I really don't care to pay for any game these days full price, well almost. There are a few I'm excited or will potentially get at full price. Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 are no doubt ones I'll get right away. FFXIII I'm still kinda weary about but probably will too. Assassin's Creed 2 seems to have improved a lot from the first's repetitive and has even more assassin kinda fun. Borderlands has been totally worth the full price too. But most other games? Eh don't think so. Considering I tend to like FPS on PC more I'd have said Modern Warfare is but what they decided to do with the PC pissed me off to buy it. If you do see me playing it on PS3 though it means my brother did end up buying it for me for Christmas lol

It doesn't help I was never a HUGE DMC fan. I liked the games but I never bought them right away so I don't know if Bayonetta would wanna make me get it. It looks entertaining though and I do hear a lot of good things about it. Just, not gonna get it soon.

That's perfectly fine, no one's going to fault you for trying to be intelligent with your money. But stop blabbing that every game "isn't worth the money" or isn't worth full price; especially when YOU DON'T KNOW. It's annoying and serves absolutely no purpose in a thread about the game.

It doesn't help I was never a HUGE DMC fan.
No, it doesn't; but then it really begs the questions of why are you in this thread? You don't like the style if gameplay, you think we're all perverts because the developers overly threw in sex appeal, and you don't think the game is worth full price; so why the hell are you in this thread at all?

If all you're going to do is say something annoying and irrelevant, and then try to appease everyone, just stay out of the thread entirely.

I never said I didn't like it, I just said I wasn't a huge fan. Kinda how I am with a few games around here I post. Honestly, though, how much content is this game going to have? I wanna know that. If it's something ninja gaiden-esque as in just single player (saying the first) and linear than why would it be worth even 60 bucks? It's more a problem I have with a lot of games. No games don't need online, but if it's purely single I want it to either have a ton of replay or one go through that's got a TON of content :\ is that so much to ask?

No, wanting a good value for the money not wrong. But if that's the only thing you're going to be saying about every game that comes out, and be saying it over and over and over, then just stop posting already. Your perceived value is different than everyone else's; you may not enjoy a game others love, so them saying it's totally worth the money(or vice versa) is completely irrelevant if all you're doing is a simple value-estimation for the game.

Unless the game is massive like borderlands, or with a huge multi-player component like modern warfare two or is an RPG; most games are only about 6-12 hours. This is not new information, everyone knows and understands this; if you don't want to throw down $50 to play for 12 hours, then don't, and buy it a year later in the bargain bin if it's not a massive commercial success. The rest of us are either buying the games when they're new, or at least just not bitching about how the games don't have years worth of single player content in them.

I just downloaded the demo on the ol' Bawx... I normally wont buy these types of games. I figure once you beat it, it's done, but I see this game being worth the $60. The music, the visuals, the fighting, its all super wicked. This game isn't a DMC clone, it is what DMC4 should have been.

I tried the demo immediately after downloading it, loved it. I will be buying this on release for sure. That is to say, I will be buying the "Climax" Edition *muffled laughter*

Oh Sega, you are soooo smrt ;)

I finally got around to playing the demo yesterday. It was alright, but I don't think I'll pick it up until the price drops.

I enjoyed the demo a lot. This feels like DMC on crack. Im not a huge fan of the artistic direction the game is taking. Its a bit girly with all the butterflies everywhere, her heel attacks and whatnot and then the music...was not a fan of the battle music in the demo. But I love the combat a lot. Will probably be getting it first week its out.

So i just turned into a giant demon-worm like thing, that was cool

i dk how i feel about this game...my main gripe is bayonetta herself....she looks like a tranny, there i said it, i expect to see someone that looks like her at one of my cousins drag queen shows, other then that it seems cool, i'll probably still buy it

She does kinda look like a Drag Queen, huh? I was thinkin' that as well, hell, it fits her style and personality really good too. That's the only thing that kinda irks me about this game. I mean, if I was makin' it, she'd have been a complete fox. The guy is Japanese though, those dudes have some skewed taste of women if you ask me.

Agreed LOL the game still looks pretty good though. How far along is the game now? Couldnt they make some slight changes now as far as her appearance is concerned?

Are you people flipping blind? Bayonetta is a hot tamale :|

It is pretty much done. The Japanese version has been out for a bit now. Hell, in the Japanese version almost everything is in English, even the voices, they just use Japanese characters for things like subtitles, menus, and uber important details, most of which as well is in English too. So pretty much our version is done, they're just holding off on lettin' it out. Also, I think the chin mole is PAL and NA exclusive! I guess they think we love our chin moles. They don't even look good on supermodels as far as I'm concerned.

LOL Im not arguing that, but I've seen some hot looking trannies too man, is all I'm sayin............

Well, either way I'm picking this game up as soon as it comes out, I'm in serious need of a sexy hyped up hack and slasher.

So a friend brought by his copy of this about a week ago and let me borrow it since he doesnt have time to play it yet, and ive already completed it and am on my second run through on hard mode.
The game is fuckin awesome, I love it!
Its just so much fun and so smooth, and so many combos it makes my head spin, everytime you buy a new item or get a new weapon, a whole new list of combos opens up to mix with your basic moves.
The game has many laugh out loud parts, especially when they reference other games and movies.
for instance:
Spoiler:
When you go into the gates of hell, which is the store in this game, Rodin says "Hey, Check this out! What are you buyin?, Haha, i heard that in a game once"

I literally lol'd at that reference.
The story is actually damn good too, it kept me confused for the most part, but once it all comes together at the end your just stuck in that epic feeling.
Theres a song that plays during most of the battles, its an old song remade for this game and its called "Fly me to the moon". I was really annoyed by this song for awhile, i kept thinking, why didnt they spice up this battle music, make it more heavy instead of light. Until you find out that the song and the lyrics play a heavy role in the story much later on, then once you find that part out...you tend to love the song.
Spoiler:
When bayonetta sings the song later, i didnt even think i ever payed attention to the lyrics, but she sings a snippet from the song and she sings "in other words, take my hand" and the scene fades to white without her finishing the words and you almost instinctively say in your head "In other words, i love you". That was an awesome moment

The game is actually a little bit hard though, even on normal. You really have to get good at dodging, it makes all the difference. But hard mode is near torture, when you dodge you have to be very accurate or you wont even engage witch time, and being half way through hard mode ive only engaged witch mode because of cleopatras bracelets that give witch time when you take damage. Hard mode also gives you enemies appearing much earlier than they do on normal, to make it even harder.
And i hear infinite climax mode disables witch time completely making it insanely hard. cant wait to tackle that.
This will be the first game of this type i will be shooting to 1k my gamerscore on, unless infinite climax turns out to just be too brutal for me, which with how hard this hard mode is im expecting it to be.

Oh and once the game ends, they throw in a ton of bonus stuff to keep you going before you even decide to start the next run through, its great so definitely pick this one up!

With ∞ Climax mode just use your Moon of Malaa-Kalaa to counter not havin' Witch Time. Also... Nunchaku for the win. You'll also find that in some portions of the game it is easier than Hard. Instead of takin' on 5 Gracious and/or Glory it'll be slimmed down to 1 with more HP. The general rule of thumb for Hard mode is do not attack unless your in Witch Time and do no use Torture Moves unless you'll come out in a safe position.
