Be nice to your baristas

I'm just the opposite of the customers you complain about- I'm the quiet one who won't complain even if you do screw up. Small coffee instead of large cappuccino? I'll just accept it as if I ordered it. If it only happens once in a while, noone will ever know. If it happens a lot, noone will ever know unless they ask why I stopped coming. I have been guilty of growing restless waiting in line when I run to the coffee shop during my already brief dinner break at work. Not so much at the fact that there's a line, but that I might have to leave empty handed or face stiff penalties for returning to work late. But I don't blame the server.

Anyway, I think part of the reason customers have such a god complex when they go to businesses is because most every business has a "Customer is always right" policy. The customer is rarely right, but in the interest of getting the customer to come back, the staff pretends the customer is. Customers know businesses have this policy. Like a bard in a merit party, they know noone will tell them what's what.

On a related note, it's especially important to treat the employees of places like McDonalds kindly, because many might not have the scruples of a higher class establishment, and you can't see what's going in in your food preparation. I've heard horror stories of disgruntled employees and the customer who expected too much customization on his burger.

I'm going to punch you in the dick now.

I worked in a pizza place before, independently owned and operated. That means I got to laugh in people's faces when they would ask for the corporate number because I would return their rudeness back at them. One thing I learned though, you gotta keep the laughter inside and just at most keep a smirk on your face otherwise the dumb bitch yelling at you because her pizza is "ice cold" will physically assault you...

5) repeatedly telling me how necessary it is for your coffee drink to be decaf or sugar free. i heard you the first time, it's written on the cup, DROP IT! i UNDERSTAND you are diabetic or have a heart condition, because you've said it THREE TIMES!!! jeezus, would it kill you to have a little faith in my ability to do my job? if you've been given the wrong thing before, i'm sorry, but it wasn't me so don't treat me like it was!

I agree with every single one of those except this one. Well, actually it depends on how repeatedly... three times is definately pushing it. The only reason is, I am one to double check that the drink is sugar free. It happens more often than you probably think where a waiter/waitress is on auto mode and just fills a regular instead of a diet. Some people double check because, to answer your question, yes it could kill me to have a little faith in someone filling an ungodly amount of drinks in a day. Not sure how much sugar is in starbucks drinks, but if I were given 2-3 (the avg I drink when I'm eating out) regular sodas where I asked them to be diet, that would be 100-150g of sugar (assuming they were 12oz a drink) that I had no idea I was having. Thus, I wouldn't take that into account when giving myself insulin which would end up with me feeling extremely sick (omitting details) which could've been prevent by just double checking with the server that my drink was diet.

Now people who give you their life story (I know, I gave you my life story, but I'm not ordering anything!) or quadruple checking when ordering, I can definately see that being part of the rant. A double check "this is sugar free right?" should not add someone to your evil customer list. Forgive me if I made the wrong assumption here.

I treat people who serve me great until given a reason not to. I thought I should clarify that before sayin, you just sound like a whiney bitch. You think you have it bad? There are some people in this world with a "real" job, *shudder*.

[death glare] you, good sir, should be set on fire, and have 1000 starbucks employees pee on you to put it out, then be ground in our industrial coffee grinder, and mixed with our daily brew. maybe the customers will appreciate a little revenge with their coffee ><

nono, i understand. and it's not your kind i hate. a simple "right?" is fine by me. but i've had people tell me 4, 5 even 6 times, and tell me the same "cause i'm diabetic and it could kill me" every time. i'm pretty lax, 3 times doesn't bother me. i'll usually jokingly say something to really drive it home that I KNOW ALREADY, but they keep going!!!! wtf!!! o.O

what part of I'M 18 AND IN COLLEGE SO PARDON ME IF I DON'T HAVE A "REAL" JOB did you not understand? and, asshole, what makes this NOT a real job, eh? is it because we aren't stuck in a cubicle or business suit? or is it because we make an hourly wage instead of a salary? FUCK YOU! i appreciate that you treat us lesser peons nicely, i'm SURE we're not worthy of your kindness. you saying that this isn't a "real job" is the exact attitude that makes people think we're beneath them. JEEZUS. i'd like to see YOU deal with this shit and not dislike it!

And I'll complain to your manager.

I am the manager. And complaining to my boss won't fix your broke dick, smartass. LOL

it took us an hour to get our food, but they comped our bread sticks to apologize. our bill was $20, i dropped her a $50 and told her to keep the change. the smile on her face was all the thanx i needed.
Whoa.

My favorite (read: worst) customer was this total passive-agressive bitch who came in one day to the store and wanted some POS vase shipped. Because it was unpacked and fragile, I had to quote her prices for the packing, which is pricey because UPS store has a guarantee with their packing that if the item gets broken in transit, they'll give you the full value of the item. So when I quoted the price of packing, she flips out on me, and tells me that she'll have to think about it.

Luckily there was noone else in the store at the time, so I told her to take her time. She goes to the counter at the far end of the store and futzes around for a while. I had literally nothing better to do, so I'm keeping an eye on her. I see her pull out her cell phone, and without actually dialing or anything put it up to her ear and pretended she's talking to someone. She then starts talking into the dead cell phone, saying shit like "you're such a stupid bitch" "this is bullshit" and "I hate dealing with idiots like you". She puts away the cell phone and comes back, saying she's decided to pack it herself, so she takes the vase and leaves.

Later that day, she comes back again with her vase packed into a shitty box that was falling apart at the seams. My co-worker Nick was the one who helped her, but she was giving me the stink-eye the whole time she was in there. I'd told Nick about her shenanigans, so after she left I was like "Dude, that was the fake cellphone bitch". Nick, bless his heart, is a total asshole, so he asks me "How do you think she packed the vase?" I shrug and say "knowing her cheap ass, she probably just wrapped it in used newspaper". Nick nods at this, and drop kicks the box over the counter and onto the pile of stuff waiting for pickup. He then makes sure to stack every single heavy item that comes into the store for the rest of the day right on top of that box.

I know for a fact that she came back to complain about it arriving broken, because there's no way it would have survived transit the way she packed it. (Ironically enough, if she'd had us pack it for her, all the kicking in the world probably wouldn't have broken it; anything we do in the store is kid gloves compared to what UPS does as standard procedure). But since she packed it herself, the manager would have just told her to fuck off (in nicer terms) if she tried to get money back.

I don't know if you've been properly introduced to Myrrh yet, so I'll perform the honors.

Myrrh, EllySeiko. EllySeiko, Myrrh.

Myrrh is a Canuck who believes that a woman's place is in the kitchen making him a sandwich, and while he says a lot of things like what he said, none of it should be taken seriously in the slightest, because he's Myrrh. Nothing he says is real, tbh.

Except anything about dolphin sex. Believe him fully when he says anything about "Myrrh likes to have sex with dolphins", but not when he says anything about "Myrrh likes to watch Tristam have sex with dolphins." There are pictures to back up the claims of Myrrh's dolphin fetishism.
