Best Buy BS.

Alot of companies take the stance of "you crack the case, you void the warranty" wasen't sure how BB handles it .. i purchased my current PC from my local BB and that was the case around here not only for the Emachine warranty but BB as well.

Now what it sounds like here is an issue of localized sucky customer service, honestly.

Agreed.

BB tech guys crack the case the manufacturing company is the one that voids the warrenty if the seal is broken because they have the stickers to replace them, bb doesn't and does some work in store.

Emachine factory warrenty actually is a mailing process. you call them tell them the issue they do trouble shooting and send you (after charging your CC) a replacement part for it with instructions on how to install it LOLZ. Then your required to package up the broken part and ship it back to have your CC refunded.

Luckily for me if something fargs up that bad on mine it's software so i can just hit the livechat, thank god none of my hardware has gone on the fritz.

BB warrenty is like a free upgrade every like year or so.

its so easy to break shit like the hard drive and cd roms. all they do is turn it on and say yeah its broke and replace it lol. my friend got a upgrade a few years back from a 20gig HD to 40gig pulling that shit lol. i got a DVD burner from it. the warrenty is worth it to me after that ;)

 taking advantage of a corporate entity for free computer upgrades? for shame. :D

after knowing the mark up they get on stupid little parts, cd's, blank cds ect i have no problem balencing it with some free computer upgrades with a warrenty that i purchased ^^

So...it's ok to burn best buy but not ok to burn a gil seller? Got it!

its a protection plan i paid for.

that covers manufacturer defects and workmanship, not breaking it yourself.

Dear god .. flashbacks of working at whirlpool:

"I need a tech out to my house, there's watermelon all over the inside of my dryer"

Confused pause...

"Why is there watermelon inside your dryer, sir?"

"I wasen't ripe enough yet"

"Sorry, sir, this is considered a use and care issue and your warranty will not cover the maintenance or replacement of your product"

As if it were possible the call escalated on level of stupidity from there on...

This sorta thing is why i thank god everyday all i have to do is babysit.

my cd rom did break naturally from burning 3000 cd's, and my friends hard drive broke because he put a magnet on the case because he didn't know not to

Honestly, best buy makes a million+ dollars in sales a DAY at each store, a at cost $100 dvd burner isn't breaking them in anyway. its not like i take my computer up there every damn day only when the shits broken. It is easy to break that cheap ass shit from natural wear in tear. i take my laptop battery up there once a year to get a new one because its naturally not holding its charge as long.

I use the warrenty exactly as i sold it, and thats why i sold it so damn well.

Best Buy makes a shit load of money off of that warrenty because people DONT use it. They dont see the value in it, i simply found the value of the product they were selling and sold it. I also made them a shit load of money selling it as well. Best Buy doesn't lose money on those repaired items they are writen off as defective and sent back to the manufacture to deal with where they are usually referbished and resold again.

I know how warranties work, I sold the shit out of them too. Doesn't make it any better getting over on them than getting over on GS whose business makes a whole shitload of money as well.

But you can't take a moral stance against stealing from GS when you condone misrepresenting warranty repairs from BB.

no how i feel what he did is like the sales clerk that her b/f was buying the big tv's that were like 5 grand to 10 grand and then coming back and she was "returning" them but the tv's weren't coming back.

THAT is more like what happened IMO. That bitch went to jail where she belonged. I'm not straight up fucking the company over, i'm not lieing to them when i say its broken, i'm not ripping them off by thousands upon thousands of dollars. If they said no we can't fix it for such and such reason i'd be like ok and walk away. Either way i paid for a service from a company that garenteed my product would perform the same at day 1095 as it did at day 1. When its not performing to that potential it once was, and is running slow making errors on disc buttons break, i'm going to go in and get it fixed because i paid for that garrentee.

he didn't pay for a garentee and wasn't entitled to a 40million gill cape. he had made no prior agreements other then the one to trade the merch cris which he failed to do. he gets no respect from me in that, and this is a way different situation.

The fact that your friend put the magnet on the HD makes that a non warranty covered problem. The fact that he then went in to BB to get it repaired by warranty is wrong. He paid for a 20G HD, recieved a 40G HD. Did he pay for that? No he didn't. He decieved BB to recieve a larger HD. That is theft, regardless if he paid for the warranty or not.

btw, I'm ok with what you and your friends did, I do it to.

actually 20 gig hard drives weren't made anymore which is why a 40 gig hard drive was put into his computer :p

bah hit enter to early,

anyways he had the computer for 2yrs before going to best buy for anything on the warrenty (hence where i say BB makes a shit load of money off of those things).

The best service that makes it kind of um... "better service" i guess you could say, is the in home service where the tech actually comes to your home to work on it. I had one come work on my tv once of course the bastard didn't fix it i could of done more then him lol (he used a hot glue gun in my TV) so yeah then they came and picked it up and brought me a new one (nice guys eh?)

The way the warranty is written was he entitled to getting his PC repaired by BB? No, HE broke the item, him putting a magnet on the HD is the same as putting a hammer through a TV screen.
