It was a thread just begging to be hijacked to menstrual cramps etc.

Menstrual cramps are microbial terrorists.

Like these bastids:

Those are so disturbingly cute. I need one of the "Ear Ache" Plushies to explain to my doctor what I'm going though!

Alanon, My cramps have gotten better as I got older. 800mg of Motrin kicks them right in the rear now-days. I've gone to the doctor multiple times about it, and apparently I'm nice and healthy. /shrug. it just hurts more for some women than it does for others.

Oh, not sure HOW long my mom was in labor with me, but she gave birth to me DRUG FREE. She was completely calm too, a woman was screaming in another room, and she kept asking the doctors "What's that lady's problem?"

Yeah, men get kidney stones . . . but so do women, heh.

I was SOOOOO lucky durning my pregnancy- not only did I have the usual woes, but I got gallstones too! Yay!

Now, given my medical history, I have a unique perspective on pain. Cramps suck- I had them once like Yomi, so bad I couldn't do anything but roll around in bed and moan. Childbirth is bad, but not terrible- I actually had an induced labor (meaning they give you drugs to bring on contractions) because I was one of the lucky 5% whose water breaks for no reason before labor starts. It was uncomfortable, yes- but it's not as terrible as being sick because you know that although it hurts, it's because things are working right. Whereas with the gallstones, it was just WRONG. (FYI, gallstones are said to be equally bad as kidney stones).

All of those, though, are NOTHING. I had, hands down, the worst pain anyone can have and live through- pancreatitis. Now, to give you perspective: I have a freakishly high pain tolerance. When I was pregnant and had a gallstone, I'd tough it out with only tylenol. During induced labor, which most women get an epidural or spinal block for, I took a half dose of Stadol. When I had pancreatitis, though, I was literally BEGGING for morphine every 2 hours. My only memory of the first 2 days in the hospital is watching the clock, waiting for my 2 hours to tick down, so I could start mashing the call button for my meds. (After 2 days they FINALLY put me on a PDA and I could give myself meds).

So yeah, you wussie guys can't complain to ME about pain. :P

I'm ok with pain...It's just a temporary thing, unless it kills you...In which case, you won't care.
