Blockbuster to focus on Blu-ray

Well I hear the first print of the Fifth Element officially, "sucks balls," so if you wait til next month there's a redone version of it.(People with the Fifth Element already can get its exchanged free.)
I've seen it probably about 40 times(in bits an pieces, of course) at my job on a 65" DLP over the last month, didn't see any problems with it at all. What are they saying about it that sucks?

believe the new one is remastered or something

I'll have to wait then to buy it. I will get something soon to watch. I have the HDTV with HDMI and everything, but the only local place to get movies on BlueRay is GameStop, and their selection sucks. On one of my next rounds, I will have to stop at BestBuy and pick something up.

believe the new one is remastered or something
That's not something wrong with the first version, only that the new one would be a little better.

Don't know what's wrong with it, but I recall when the first gen blurays were out, people on the AVSforums were tiering them, and it was considered a disappointment to get a bad tier being a sci fi movie with lots of special affects. I've seen some low tiers(that's the better tiers) versus high tiers myself and I'll notice a bit of a difference. It's not really that big a deal, maybe cause my TV is only 32 inch it's not so important. I'd imagine watching on some 60 inch 1080P, the best of the best images will really stand out.

I'll mention my bluray collection if any of these seem interesting:

The Departed(best movie ever, you just wrong Lanien)
Goodfellas(well if you didn't like Departed you might dislike this great movie)
Sleepy Hollow
Black Hawk Down
Kingdom of Heaven
Talladego nights(ONLY got this cause it was free with PS3, I think Will Farrell isn't that funny though he was good in Stranger than Fiction.)
Terminator 1 and 2
Lethal Weapon 1 and 2
Superman 1, 2 and returns
Rambo:first blood(great movie)
Tears of the Sun
Casino Royale
Xmen 3(I don't know what the fuss was about, I thought it as as good as the first 2)
Stargate
Memento
Total Recall
Planet Earth BBC special

So there's a lot of good stuff out there depending on what you're into.

So far i have picked up,
Planet Earth BBC
Departed
Blackhawk Down
Casino Royale
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean 2
Apocalypto

I currently have:

Rocky Balboa
Kingdom of Heaven (excellent film and transfer)
Planet Earth
Departed
Casino Royale
Pirates 1
Pirates 2
Blackhawk Down
Apocalypto
Atlas China Revealed
Atlas Australia Revealed
Flags of Our Father
Letters From Iwo Jima
Corpse Bride
The Prestige (awesome film but rent it. Once you "know the trick" it doesn't have as much rewatch value)
The Fifth Element (currently sent it in to be swapped with the remastered version)
MI3
Superman Returns
Layer Cake
Crank (impulse purchase I wish I never made)
Tears of the Sun
Talladega Nights (came with the PS3 but I think it is hilarious)

lol You can't even compare Goodfellas to the Departed. Mainly for the fact Goodfellas was good and Departed sucked, but hey, I guess that's just me.

Come on guys where's the Terminator love?

I refuse to buy something that I already have on DVD (exception being LotR and a few other titles). While the leap from dvd to high def is noticeable it isn't as great an improvement as VHS to DVD was.

Well I guess I should say until it is years from now and I occasionally find some of these repeat titles in the $5-10 bargain bin somewhere, I won't be re-buying titles I already have..

I only re-bought Memento and Terminator 2, the others are either new or didn't buy them on DVD cause I never thought of it. Living on campus I was able to sell them to one of my friends for 7 a piece, so I ended up paying about 10 for the upgrade total. For Terminator 2, worth it, for Memento... meh.
