I never gave this item much thought, but I notice even now, that I can reach 100tp+ pretty much faster then CA is up, and I don't have any haste/doubleattack/tripleattack gear yet, lol. Do you guys (BLUs) think its worth it to merit down this timer?

Btw: I am not 75 as of yet, but there is nothing holding me back now (sea spells done, savage blade done, etc) so I should be very soon.

Yes, I'm fully meriting this and potency.

Definatly seems like a good option to me, CA is sex.

I haven't merited BLU yet. But I think the most important/relevant ones are:

1- Magic Accuracy (adds +2 MAcc)

2- Physical Potency (adds +2 to Physical Attack)

The CA and BA Merits are good, but we only get like -4 seconds on the timer.

Yeah i havnt gotten around to meriting BLU much either, and now that you mention it. I would think that putting your merits into these two catagories would benefit you more than lowering CA's timer.

Depends. Some spells, like Frenetic Rip, and occasionally Hysteric Barrage, work well on their own, so Physical Potentcy would be great for these. But others, like Death Scissors, only work well in combo with CA. Also, depending on the situation, pulling off more SC's may be more important then your overall dmg per spell (some nms people like to have something for BLMs to MB on constantly). I don't think I will decide til I can compare solo Distortion to CASA Death Scissors or Vertical Cleave. I originally thought the same as you guys about Physical ( I'm not touching magical, the way I play Blu, I don't see much point in it), but after reaching 100tp numerous times, with CA still at 30+ seconds, I am beginning to wonder.

Btw, I think you have these confused.

1- Magic Accuracy (Accuracy of "Magical" Blue Spells)

2- Physical Potentcy (Accuracy and Dmg of Physical Spells)

I have to jump on Blm and check these categories again, but I believe that is how they work.

So far, I've placed my merits in Physical Potency and Magical Accuracy (which I think has helped me land Frightful/Enervation/Lowing/Tickle etc... much more on the big endgame mobs).

I haven't decided whether to max physical/acc, or slide a few points into CA-recast. I really struggled between Acc and CA-recast since I don't use magical blu spells as much as I melee/physical DD (I really only use them on Endgame mobs with the exception on the standard debuffs). But everytime my TP is at 100 and CA is not up I think "Damn, need to merit CA-recast!"

Yeah, I really think it depends on what you do with your blu. For me personally, pretty much all endgame events I am required to come as blm. So, for me personally, my blu is mainly for ks/bc fights, merit parties, merit soloing, and just goofing off when I get tired of playing with my blm and bst.

If I had the opportunity to use my blu more in events such as limbus, dynamis, ouryu uncapped, and missions (already beat them all, so I'll never know how blu does on things like CoP) I probably would have put more emphasis on magical blu magic accuracy.

However, at this moment, due to my previous job choices, my top priority for my blu is to just do wtfdamage as quickly as possible.

So, it all depends on what you envision yourself doing with your blu at endgame.

Well, the question remains, which would result in higher dot, capped Recast reduction on CA, with the rest into Physical, or capped Physical? Either way, I am going for overall dmg (remember, spells like Death Scissors are crap w/o CA, and sometimes Diss., Hysteric B., and Frenetic Rip get more potent while using it).

I'd imagine pumping most into physical and the rest into magical, is it a good idea to focus dd around one job ability when potentially you could enhance your spells which make your job ability more powerful rather than just lowering the CA recast by a few seconds?

Well, 20 seconds out of 2 minutes is quite a few seconds.

What I may do is pump a couple into physical first, to see the difference in dmg numbers per upgrade, with and w/o CA. God I love this job, even when something seemed obvious, it may not be, lol.

You're not going to be able to put all 10 into physical. I'm not quite sure I'm reading you right but you're saying your two options are:

1) Capped Recast reduction on CA (5) with the rest into physical (5)

or

2) Capped Physical (5)

It's 1am so I might be reading you wrong. Am I?

Ewok, I think you will get more bang for your buck (if you are focusing on DD) to do (5) Physical and (5) CA recast.

I dumped a few merits on magical acc, thinking it would help Frightful Roar, Lowing, Tickle, Enervation but even with all mnd/int/Chr gear, but those spells still miss on the big HNM's. I've never had an issue missing those spells on standard IT ++ mobs using my Str/Dex set, so I personally don't think magic acc is worth it.

There are some merit categories that have each option capping at like 6, so I thought this was the case here too, lol. If I don't have to choose between physical and CA recast, then my dilema has been solved (I know nothing caps at 10 individually). I have no interest in touching Magical, so thats no problem there (I don't even have an equip setup for casting alot of those spells, would seem like a waste to dump merits into it).

Anyway, thanks for schooling, lol. I feel like a noob now >.<

Ewok, you better get this right because I'm emulating your setting when I get BLU to 75. lol

If what pakoman is saying is true, then 5 physical, 5 CA recast, lol.

No problem :) Good luck with your blu.

The weapons and magic categories are the one's your thinking about that cap at 8 (magic) and 8/4(weapons). Job merits cap at 5/5 and tier 2 job merits cap at 3/3 (I think). I think. But blu don't get tier 2 merits, so we don't have to worry about that for a while.

If I said anything inaccurate in this post, feel free to school me in return. I may be messing up on a detail or two.
