Blue Mage...... This will cause some major problem x.X

WTF do their abilties matter? They're probably gonna be like summoner, using one abilty per mintute. I foresee blu/whm being another healer, with some nifty new abilities.

Yeah, blu sounds like a nice job, but a nice job would be time mage! I'd definitely want to get that, the ability to control time, even though there are spells like haste and slow already, but why not add more, maybe somehow tie in a clock based spell thing where a spell can be doing something based on Vana'Diels time. There are different things Time mages can still do.

How about Alchemist like those from FFT, they can mix things together and even possibly be main healer.

I considered this but lets be realistic who would actually be one? "Here is a potion for 2x the normal amount of HP!" and 5 mins later "sorry guys i'm broke...". Unless they let it make potions out of thin air...in which case it would probably end up as being a cross between a bard and a whm which seems kinda pointless to me unless you enjoy healing so much that 75+ levels of WHM wasn't enough for you.

As for time mages i really can't see what you would give them... i mean hastega, slowga, possibly something current time and date related, some meteor attacks...great time mage has a whooping 10 spells...

Don't get me wrong i liked time mage, but when the majority of the spells you would expect them to have are already on rdm whats the point?

As for BLU...i really doubt they would make it a 1 min recast job...it strikes me as more of standard mage casting when it comes to casting blue magic (or possibly the whole using random items idea...but having to cast slow would suck sooooo bad lol).

Anyway...GoGo 1000 BLU in dunes!

In this latest expansion, however, the Blue Mages are described as masters of the legendary arts of Aht Urhgan, and are known as formidable fighter-mages that employ elegantly-curved blades for use in close combat. -IGN Article

That sounds like it would appeal to a lot of players. The community will have to work fast in stripping the perks out of this job. People will approach the job like a melee mage, as Red Mage was intended. This could very well be a non blm mage that isn't a main healer. I don't think the community will stand for it. I'm sure there are people already at work coming up with charts as to why Blue Mages are most efficient to a party standing in the back using white magic only. The anti-fun-brigade is at a disadvantage this time, because the age old excuse of "This job's been out for two years and we know everything about it" isn't valid here. How will a player be bashed for going against the grain when there's no grain yet? Blue Mage could pose trouble indeed.

Hopefully above all else, this means more Scimitars. Hooray for doubling as BST usefulness!

problems with geomancer

I know with the talk of new jobs has everyone excited and I believe that blue mage won't be the only job released.

Just my two cents, about geomancers.. if I recall they use the ground, earth, water etc around them too attack their enemies.. yet what kinda mobs live by these elements? A party is pulling a pugil... I shall use the power of the ocean beside me to kill the fish with.. water? How can you spell damage a mob whose resistant to the surroundings around it?

With Geomancers (aka Elementalists) in FFXI, a viable gameplay mechanic could revolve the Elements of Vana'diel more than using the actual surroundings.

Sorta like combining the bar-element-ra spells of whm, the en-element spells of rdm and the elemental magic of blm into one spell set and souping it up a bit.

On the topic of time mages: they could get the haste and slow spells earlier than the other jobs and have higher tier form. Possibly even an alternative to refresh, and other enfeebles. They could also have different spells based on the vanadiel time, such as at 1:00-2:00 or 15:00-15:30 (or any time really) vanadiel time they get a DoT spell that does insane damage per tick, but only lasts until the hour or 1/2 hour in vanadiel is up and you could only use that spell once per vanadiel day at the same time. I really think SE could do a lot with the Time Mage job, think outside the box :P

And if Blue Mage is based on TP, they'd all sub sam 60+. All.

Heh

Once again I disagree it'll be lvl 60-65 to be able to do BLU quest, I think it'll be lvl 30 to be able to do quest like all other adv jobs. And yea Time Mage would be an interesting addition, Slow 2, Haste 2, among other nifty things could make it a great job, I've always enjoyed that job in past FF's as well

IMO what we need are three things:

1) An alternate magic burster that can do damage comparable to that of a BLM.

2) An alternate healer able to cast Erase to fill the job of a WHM.

3) A support job with refresh/dispel capabilites that can take the place of a BRD or RDM.

I especially support #3. I'm sick and tired of spending an hour and a half putting together a pty where an hour and fifteen minutes of it consists of trying to find an RDM or BRD (especially when WHMs and BLMs say they won't join until I have one >.<).

So true..

Is either you found PLD (or NIN) but no RDM, and if you found RDM, you can't find a tank, and when you can get both, you can get whm..

Morning is always lack of PLD
Evening is always lack of WHM
Both alway lack of RDM

if you found a rdm, is usually a bad RDM XD

I still stand by my opinion. Of all the new jobs they could add BLU ( NOT BUM FFS!!!!) is the worst job they could add, I mean come the fuck on. The game is seriously lacking Support classes. BRD, RDM, and SMN are a small select few who can enhance themselves and or the party members.

Anyhow, I am waiting.

I will laugh my ass so hard when BLU never comes...

I like Blue Mage as "Bum" it sound funny and cool :P

I wanna see a shout 1 day in Jeuno "Is there any BUM who want to level?" lol

maybe they'll add a mob that has a special refresh effect move and let blu learn that?

The game doesn't lack support classes. It lacks support players. SE could add 100 rdm/brd-like clones into the game, but so long as their gameplay style in a party remains the same, you'll still have the same amount of trouble finding one.

Actually during my times of leveling bard, I have seen many others my level. People do level these jobs often. I have never had a problem finding them while on others jobs, etc.

Let me put it this way. There are many DD classes, a handful to choose from. Wether or not a select few choose not to level these DD jobs, there is still enough DD classes to sort out the amount of people for whom choose not the level.

Like this. You have 7 commonly played DD jobs. 9 if you wish to play SMN or NIN as a DD. Sure a small select few rather play other jobs, but still the actual ammount of jobs compensates for this. Now you have 2 support classes, do you see now?

It's the ammount of jobs, not mostly the people. It actually goes hand in hand, but the numbers of DD classes to choose from has more of an effect.

Supply and demand.

Of course you need 3-4 DD class jobs in each party, but only 1 support job... kinda evens it out...
