Boy, 11, accused of killing father's pregnant girlfriend

idk I'm sitting here trying to think of a way in wich this Couldn't have been premeditated, and im drawing blanks. i mean he shot her in her sleep. Him walking down the hall, seeing here lying in bed, and being suddenly overcome with unbearable rage and anger toward her and suddendly snaped and grabed his gun and shot her, just doesnt sound very plausible to me,

Pretty much my feelings. With what we know, trying to say it was a spur of the moment killing is literally trying to put the square peg in the round hole. It doesn't make sense saying he just did it without planning, when given the circumstances involved in him killing her.

Why he did it is the real mystery though. Since no matter what, it's obviously no accident. I'm standing by my hypothesis that he had been thinking she was trying to replace his mom. I mean, kids getting jealous or upset with the people their divorced parents are getting involved with is pretty common.

i was thinking more along the lines of, he felt as tho, she(and her baby) were taking his dad from him. easy to see how a kid could feel angry for either of those reasons, a kid killing someone over that tho, not so much.

There's obviously something wired wrong in that kids head and i believe alot of the responsibility falls on the father, for not seeing any warning signs and for leaving a gun and ammo accessible to his son when hes not home. I'd really like to see charges brought on him, many states have laws specifically saying how guns are supposed to be stored with children in the home. idk about Pennsylvania Theres deff some gross negligence by the father here.

What charges could actually punish a man worse than not only losing the person you love, but also possibly your unborn child(never says if it's his,) at the hands of your fucked up son though? Yeah, he's partially responsible, but he's already going through some serious shit for not being stricter on how the guns in his home were kept. His lesson has already been learned.

Kinda amuses me that just because he's a child people are against him being punished (well, severely punished). To hell with him. Adult, child, whatever... a crime is a crime.. and, imo, murder and rape.. kill em all. There's 6.5 billion of us. Who gives a shit if the scum are executed. They aren't human anyways. From the sounds of this article, he knew what he was doing, even if he was 11, don't care. The fact that people are willing to let a child get away with such or not be severely punished for a severe crime JUST because of age? Pfft... no wonder so many kids are becoming more and more fucked up in our society...

That's a pathetic and sad statement to hear. I'm glad you're not in charge of the criminal justice system in this country. Certainly, dehumanizing convicts so we can do whatever we want -- target practice, for example -- is perfectly okay because we've never wrongfully convicted anyone.

I know, and that's the point. It was brought up that a car is just a 3000lb. killing machine, so i said we should ban those too, because if you want to you can kill anyone with nearly anything. This isn't the 1800's anymore. Recreational guns haven't been made to kill people in a long time.

Actually what I brought up was the question whether society deems it responsible to allow an 11yr the operation of a 3000lb machine. The answer to that is simple, no. I believe the main REASON for that is because society doesn't deem children responsible/mature/capable enough to be in operation of one. Even with proper operational lessons, for arguments sake, 'professional' lessons, from an instructor to his son/daughter, it is still not allowed nor will it ever be. Cars are dangerous, and YES they SHOULD be viewed as 3000lb weapons. On the road adults are in CONTROL of these machines and know VERY WELL that if they lose control or operate them irresponsibly they are not only risking their lives but the lives of people that may cross their paths. Taking a vehicle for granted, and that's what you're doing, is plain silly.

Accidents happen and how our Governments try to help avoid them also includes the law stating no CHILD under the age of 16 may even attempt for their beginners license. Here there's graduated licensing, that means although you may apply for your beginners at 16 you won't have the right to operate any vehicle until 19 without supervision/restrictions. 16-19 is a hell of a lot better than 9-11.

So my question was, how is a 3000lb 'killing' machine any different than a firearm? There are strict laws in place to only allow those society sees fit to learn proper operation of.

Honest question;

Do you need an eye exam when you go for a gun license? Do you need an eye exam when you purchase a firearm?

yeah i know you didn't say police should have there guns taken away, I'm just saying the idea that cops shouldn't have them is ridiculous, how do they "Push it"
I sure as hell want the people that are sworn to serve and protect me having something other then pepper spray and a club.

tl:dr

1:

You're kidding me right? So there are no lose cannons in any Police Force?

I was battered by 2 cops in front of 30+ people for trying to talk to the Sergeant in Charge....

That was without guns. So don't play coy when it comes to knowing whether or not there are officers that flex their muscles and I GUARANTEE use their firearms unwarranted to frighten people.

2:

I believe no civilians share the same requirements of owning/having firearms as Police.

If they are sworn to protect you why do so many SWEAR they need firearms for their own protection. Believe in your sworn protectors... why don't we??

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

I guess it's easy to say I do not whole heartedly agree with people owning guns. My boyfriend grew up on an Island where 99% of the population HAD to hunt to survive. To this DAY even having been raised to hunt and enjoy such an outing with his father and brothers he agrees with me that there is NO LONGER a need for this as there are supermarkets up everywhere.

He believes there's absolutely NO NEED for not 1 CIVILIAN to own a handgun in a city. If you can't depend on your local police force there's no need for them. If they were not in production for sale there would not be such a problem with unlicensed guns, again our police and law enforcers are ALSO paid and trained to control such instances.

It's cheaper to hunt for your own food still. Even if you don't process the meat yourself, the overall amount you can get is a far greater value than buying it from a market. Obviously if you do have the means to process it yourself, thats even more bang for your buck. And depending on what you hunt, it's much healthier for you as well. Not every market carries venison, bear, or boar. Is it required? No. But it should always remain an option in the free world, and some things you just can't hunt efficiently with a bow. Part of capitalism and a free market is all about alternatives, even frugal ones. A single adult deer can last you weeks for the price of potentially a single round. There are people that do legitimately hunt for food still. My brother is one of them. While yes, he still buys groceries, during season he hunts and butchers his own meat to be used by him, his wife, and whatever guests they invite over. And he only lives a few blocks away from me here in Baltimore.

I'm in late on this one, but i just wanna add my opinion. The boy knew what he was doing. In saying this, the murder was pre- meditated. He thought it out, knew his dad would be gone, and shot the woman in her sleep. If thats not pre-meditated I don't know what is. It means that he gave this shit some serious thought.

Now do I believe he should be tried as an adult? You damn right I do. What about the kid that was about the same age that hacked up his parents with a axe. He was tried as an adult , and when he turned 18 was moved from a juvenile holding place to a prison. He knows why he is spending the rest of his life in jail. And is thankful he didn't get the death penalty. This boy though, I'm sure if their state has it, they can push for a death penalty, you know. But he will most likely get a double life sentence.. which basically means his life is over before it really got going.

The guns.. lol what can I say about the guns. I live in the south, people here are all gung ho about guns. Some have enough to start a fuckin militia lol But, they will never let go of their guns.. (says in her best hick accent) Its My damn gun and I'll never let it go i can have as many of them as i need. Because we all know that it takes a sniper rifle to take out white tail deer. As you can tell I'm not a big gun fan, but i don't really feel like that plays a part here. Murder was definitely on this kids mind. Gun or no gun he felt that she had to go.

I really feel that jealousy played a huge part here. Here he is 11 yrs old dad has a girlfriend with a 4 yr old girl, and now she is knocked up with a new baby. I can see where the child is upset about this. But there should have been warning signs that something was wrong with him.

And thats about all I have to say about this.

I never said there wasn't such a thing as a corrupt cop, but by what line of logic can someone say cops shouldn't have guns because a few might be corrupt and use them improperly.

And no i Don't think having police have guns means citizens dont need em anymore. you know why?

A cop isnt gonna be there to stop someone from robbing you or breaking into your house, the cops gonna be there AFTER the fact after someones called 911. So how am i supposed to feel like a cop can protect my house and my life when hes nowhere around till after the shit hits the fan?

yeah i feel 100% more comfortable knowing a highly trained and armed officer will be the one finding my body.

No one said cops SHOULDN'T have guns.

You've scorned people for not reading your posts yet you're either half-assing it yourself or not bothering what-so-ever to read theirs.
Pay attention class!

Hmm... the same way a shit ton of Canadians do, golf clubs can fuck a skull up, baseball bats can fuck a skull up. You get surprised in your house by a robber you still need to grab your gun for defense (inb4meleebashing) or any large hard object that can be easily swung.

If your guns are to be locked in one cabinet and the ammo in another you need to do a lot of screwing around while thrown off and possibly VERY NERVOUS to acquire said weapon THEN acquire said ammo, load said weapon all while NOT alerting said intruder AND finding him/her before they find you to ensure YOU don't get shot or skull bashed first.

yeah i feel 100% more comfortable knowing a highly trained and armed officer will be the one finding my body.

If that's the case then WHY SHOULD cops carry guns??

This is fun, like up and down, back and forth. Shit you don't know whether you're coming or going do you??

why SHOULD cops carry guns? well idk because they are out on the street all day dealing with the worst type of people you can deal with? Because they get shot at themselves and them not having guns would make them target practice for any gang banger that wants to take a shot.

Do i really have to explain this to you? An 8 Year old knows why a cop carrys a gun.

I didn't say you said cops should have there guns taking away, yet you and a few others keep hinting that you don't think they should have guns or they "push it"

you act as tho noones questioning a cops need to carry a gun, and jump down my throat for acting as tho you did. and then immediately after ask "Why SHOULD cops carry guns" I don't think YOU know whether your coming or going.

Thought this was funny. You just generalize too much, to the point where its nuts.

Those can be just as not practical around the house to have as anything else. The biggest, most damaging weapon, i imagine anyone to have would be a big knife, but that requires you to go somewhere and get the knife (same problem with a gun, unless you sleep with a knife in your room), and then endanger yourself even more by getting up close and personal. Its the same reason why people don't train martial arts with bats/clubs/knives. If you miss, there isn't a ready chance for recovery, and you are completely open to attacks.

They also allow you to stay a distance. I'm a big guy. If i were to break in your house and you swing a bat or a golf club at me, sure, it would hurt, but i wouldn't be anywhere near knocked out. You give your melee weapons far too much credit over the human body. If you then did hit me, i'd be sure to then make sure it didn't happen again so then'd you'd probably be in a world of trouble if i do get that weapon away from you. I might just run away and come back with a gun so i can prevent that attack from happening again.

That also said, i believe its only the law to have gun and ammo locked in different cabinets if you have a child or minor in the house. Which is why the father in this story will more than likely be taking some kind of punishment. No kids, you are free to store your guns where you want, because if you end up shooting yourself, its your problem.

I shouldn't have even bothered replying to this but C'MON. Do you not see how I pointed out that you can not make up your mind?? Cops don't need guns because you'll defend YOURSELF with your OWN gun. Cops NEED guns because they're dealing with scum on a daily basis. Your thoughts flip about like a fish struggling for oxygen.

I know why law enforcement need weapons, including guns.., holy shit.

I didn't say you said cops should have there guns taking away, yet you and a few others keep hinting that you don't think they should have guns or they "push it"

Oh do I?? I'd like to see where I was hinting around at having firearms removed from Police and Law enforcement alike?? I'm curious now to see where you got that idea?

Also, I would never "hint" around that I think some cops "push it", I fucking KNOW they do from personal experience, so don't put words in my mouth. I've seen enough corruption here in CANADA. All too friendly never violent horse riding police officers Canada.

I don't often say things I don't mean. I sure as shit don't lie. My opinions may be strong as is how many other peoples?

Thought this was funny. You just generalize too much, to the point where its nuts.

I do, however I've been reading and have yet to see anyone say "Cops should have their firearms taken from them"

Yes you need to be at closer proximity to use an object like the ones I mentioned, but a house IS close proximity, ALSO why people would much rather a ... shotty over a handgun? It's better for close quarters.

I used to keep my baseball bat under my bed. I live with a man I have NO worries defending me if we had an intruder. I'm 100% serious when I say I'm confident a gun wielding intruder would have a TON of work cut out for him against my weaponless less than average sized boyfriend.

The only worry that ever crossed my mind was the fact that we as residents can get charged with assault and WORSE by defending our own homes if deemed extreme force was used, or unnecessary force. And I know if I were to start beating a man who broke into my place at 3am waking me while I was alone scaring my half to death, I wouldn't stop til that fucker was dead or every bone in his legs were broke.

They also allow you to stay a distance. I'm a big guy. If i were to break in your house and you swing a bat or a golf club at me, sure, it would hurt, but i wouldn't be anywhere near knocked out. What I find interesting about this is regardless of your size you could very well get knocked out by one punch from a much smaller guy. So a frightened, alert woman alone in her house with a bat would probably actually beat an intruder to DEATH. To say that taking a bat to the face, head, back, thigh, hip, ribs wouldn't give sufficient time for the home owner to either A: flee OR B: hit you again and again I don't think is accurate.

EDIT:

This seems to have completely morphed into "We Americans like guns" there's just no discussing how if there were none to be had there would be no gun related accidents/crime to be had.

This is it for me. I've got one hell of a strong and stubborn opinion, especially when it comes to firearms as anyone who's read this thread now knows.

IMO, the less firearms in circulation whether legal or illegal the better.

Honest question;

Do you need an eye exam when you go for a gun license? Do you need an eye exam when you purchase a firearm?

It really cracks me up to see how people not from this country think we're born with a six-shooter in-hand and that we run around like cowboys.

Honest answer;

no, we don't need an eye exam to get a gun license.

You don't get a gun license in the States; you get a gun permit - i.e., the privilege to actually carry a firearm on your person. You do get licensed to use said weapon as a tool for hunting though.

Honest question;

Does British MI-6 really issue licences to kill, giving their operatives carte blanche to end lives wherever they see fit, without regard to collateral damage, or was Ian Fleming blowing smoke up our asses?

no you havnt pointed out anything other then your own inability to take a solid stance on whether or not you think cops should have guns.

when did I ever say cops don't need guns? please find that in my post and quote it for me. you wont, because i never said it. the only one here flopping back and forth like a fish is you.

Where did i get the idea that you think cops shouldnt have guns? I Dont know, maybe the part where you asked "Why should cops carry guns?"

as for that last quote I'm failing to see where your having trouble understanding it.

You say you never said you think cops should have their guns takin away. Yet from your statements it seems you don't think they SHOULD have guns.

Yes you need to be at closer proximity to use an object like the ones I mentioned, but a house IS close proximity, ALSO why people would much rather a ... shotty over a handgun? It's better for close quarters.

Because the game is protecting yourself or your belongings. I don't know if you've ever shot a shotgun, but that's serious business. I've dislocated my shoulder twice while learning how to shoot one. It also is much less controlled than a hand gun and usually ends up destroying more than you want it to. Very counter productive. Where as a handgun is much more controlled. If i shoot you in the leg with a shot gun your leg will come off and so will all of my flooring, cabinets, other things around the shot. If i shoot your leg with a handgun the bullet may not even leave your leg. The goal is to maim and incapacitate, not obliterate.

I used to keep my baseball bat under my bed. I live with a man I have NO worries defending me if we had an intruder. I'm 100% serious when I say I'm confident a gun wielding intruder would have a TON of work cut out for him against my weaponless less than average sized boyfriend.

I don't see why. I shoot each of you once, you aren't getting back up. Which is also why guns are a nice tactic. People know that if they do get shot, there is a decent chance they won't get back up.

Maybe if that person is trained in martial arts. Punches don't work that way unless you know what you are going for. A frightened alert woman with a bat isn't any more alert than an alert burglar. Like i said before Bats are made for any self defense purposes. If you miss even once with the bat, you lose so much of your power on the next swing it may as well not even happen. Its pretty clear you think your bat will be your end all be all weapon, but as someone that has studied this, you may as well be swinging a stick. Its clumsy and ineffective.

no you havnt pointed out anything other then your own inability to take a solid stance on whether or not you think cops should have guns.

uuuugh, see below.

when did I ever say cops don't need guns? please find that in my post and quote it for me.

That right there suggests the fact cops carry weapons is useless as citizens can take care of their own shit and can't depend on them.

Where did i get the idea that you think cops shouldnt have guns? I Dont know, maybe the part where you asked "Why should cops carry guns?"

I was being facetious and that was in response to you stating you can only depend on well trained officers to find your dead body.

as for that last quote I'm failing to see where your having trouble understanding it.

You say you never said you think cops should have their guns takin away. Yet from your statements it seems you don't think they SHOULD have guns.

The only people I think REALLY NEED firearms at this point in our lolcivilized world is law enforcement.

Right to an Armed Militia... you have that, it's called Law Enforcement. If you can't depend on them what's the point in having them?
