It has the power of two and a half Macuahuitl +1s, Hauteclaire +1, and an added effect which I presume is to encourage face-tanking or something.

So, discuss. Personally, i just creamed my pants.

Here are the comparable endgame weapons available to Paladin to compare (aside from relic);

Hauteclaire's higher DPS seems outshined by Burtgang's 'Joyeuse' effect of double attacking.

Yea, Raes and I were discussing this in the datamine thread earlier...it's unbelievable.

Im not sure what there is to discuss really. The weapon is supreme in every way. Not much more to say about that.

However, its supposed to be only slightly easier to obtain then a relic, and with current alexandrite prices (i wanna remember seeing them at around 20k a piece) its way more expensive then a relic. Now i know the amount of alexandrite required was lowered in this update, but so was the droprate, so that doesnt necessarily change anything. Beside that, you also need 100 000 einherjar points, wich equals to 25 weeks, if you farm for max points twice a week. Most of the mobs needed to be killed arent that hard, i could probably qualify for that today already, i think im just missing 1 beastmen king. But the beastmen kings arent really a walk in the park. They take about 1 alliance of skilled players, alot more if you are clueless. I really have no clue how long it takes to accumulate 150 000 tokens.

All this is while not knowing what you need to finish the third quest.

Point being, while is a jawdropping weapon, its not like its going to be available to the general masses anytime soon. Its not like its unattainable, but dont get rid of your macahuitls and hauteclaires just yet.

Yea, good point...this is one of a few that I think are worth the monumental effort though.

Who even cares about DPS if your a PLD? Your job is to tank not deal dmg, so its more like having 2 1/2 Macuahuitl's, 1 1/3 Hauteclaire's AND even if its 1/2 the Double Att of Joyeuse (for TP gain on Chivalry) then this IS godly as far as I can tell.

No doubt is it worth it, just dont go into upgrading thinking it will be anything less then a relic-type ordeal.

Yeah the sword is great, but even if the tasks required are pretty difficult, a good group can get this done no?

Creamed.

They didn't drop the drop rate I don't think, they said they were going to increase it. Plus I see a lot of Alexandrites for 5k in some people's bazaars.

The more DPS you do, the more hate you'll have is what I think the point is.

I didnt really listed the mobs as the hard part. The real point is that the pricetag is still the same as a relic, or more. And while most people have a dynamisshell to get attestations and fragments, you dont see any beastmenking ls ready to take down those for upgraders. While they arent impossible to kill, its always harder to find people when you dont have a eventdesignated ls for it or a fairly decent endgame shell. Cause while they arent, as i said, impossible, i dont really see random pickup groups do to well on them.

But to summon, dont get into upgrading this without atleast being aware of the pricetag.

Yea, that's a good thing for anyone thinking of upgrading. The more people thinking "Oh shit I gotta have this" without realizing the long tedious process will increase prices for all because of demand. Then, just like dynamis relics, many will give up when they realize they got in over their head.

* A battlefield marking the end of the mythic weapon questline has been added.
* The number of pieces of alexandrite required to complete the quest "Duties, Tasks, and Deeds" has been reduced. Consequently, the quantity and rate of alexandrite drops has also been adjusted.

Granted, it isnt crystalclear, but the way i read it is that they are gonna lower the droprate cause they lowered the amount necessary. From the wording they might aswell up the droprate tho, ill give you that.

But even assuming a generous lowering of the cost by 50% to 25000 alexandrites, and you manage to pickup only cheap ones for 5k your still looking at 5000*25000=125 million gil.

Even if they double the droprate so you cut the price in half thats 62,5M gil. I mean i suppose they could make an even more radical change then cutting it down to 25000 alexandrite from 50000. But anyway you slice it, its gonna be an expensive upgrade.

Lowering the Drop Rate and the amount needed would defeat the purpose, because you only get ABOUT 5 a run if your lucky. I remember reading somewhere they were increasing the drop rate not decreasing, because 1-2 per run would just be retarded. They lowered it to 30000 according to my friend. I think it's only worth trying if you have a salvage shell that will let you have the Alexandrites though.

Assuming the 30 000 needed and doubled droprate to 10 a run, you are looking at 3000 runs or roughly 10 years of everyday salvage. I think what you wanted to say was that its only worth doing if you have the 75M to spend, or atleast know how to make 1-2M a week.

Well, anything regarding it's power/accessability, such as:

Discussion like this is fine too.

DPS isn't the main focus of PLD, of course. It does however generate enmity as with your other hate tools available, so it's rather stupid to not care about DPS entirely. If you read posts by server-wide Paladin 'kings' such as Stanislav, you'll realise that PLD can effectively deal decent DPS to generate extra enmity.

Well I meant both, you have a Salvage shell and your buying some. But that's only considering that the drop rate is doubled, it may or may not be more than that.

Didn't they sort of go against what they were saying?

I'm not a Paladin, nor will I be anytime soon. But doesn't this outshine an Excalibur in about every single way for a tank?

initial reports I've read suggest at least one of the new coin things seems to be ~50% drop off most/all NMs(frogs and stuff) and average maybe ~10 coins per each one . the other one hasn't been seen yet but have yet to read of somone killing a chariot since update. even if the other one is ~100 coins and a 100% drop off the chariots, ya this is still going to be almost as stupid as before. even at 100 coins per run (the 3 runs I've read about were around 20 coins)30k is what 300 runs >< so a years worth of salvage everyday with all coins from all runs going to you, assuming 5 times the drop rates that have been seen so far.

My point is the DPS on the weapon is a non factor when you compare EVERYTHING else it brings to the table and absolutely not a disqualifier when considering whether to use it or not. So again who cares what the DPS of this weapon is? If you want to tank in ANY other sword available in the game to a PLD with a higher DPS cause you think you'll keep hate better then this weapon by lol DDing a mob then more power to you.

DPS in this instance is irrelevant.

Yea, I gotta agree with ya Tom, DPS isn't a factor at all with the other stats this has, it'd be just as gamebreaking with a .1 dps
