This is something I wanted to post for a while but just never had time to do so. Anyway, I posted this on the Flameboard because it will most surely turn into one.
I don't pretend to be better then anyone else or above anyone else, but there are some "rules" or "behavior patterns" if you wish that should just be put down, simply because they are based on common sense (if you don't know what that is, please stop reading and go bang your head on a wall).
What I want to address here is that Oh so feared Call for help function. I think a lot of people, for some unknown reasons, just either don't know how to use it or are affraid to do so.
First of, who uses that? LEADER!!! Plain and simple. The leader of a party has certain tasks to take care of and it is my believe that using Call for help is one of them. You don't like it? You think you should never use that button but you are not leader? Disband and make your own party where you just won't use it to your convenience. No one is forcing anyone to stay in a party (AGAIN, common sense, at least give the party a chance before disbanding!) but if you elect to do, accept the fact that there is one leader, in charge of calling for help or not!
Now, that should take care of the situation where you get this:
Player1: Should we call for help?
Player2: Na, we're good!
Leader: I think we should call for help, this link is kicking our whm's butt
Player3: I tried to sleep, did not work
Player1: I say we call
Player2: NO! We will loose exp on it
Leader: well does not matter anymore, whm is dead and we're next.
Now, when do you call for help? NEVER YOU DUMB $HI7, we'll loose exp!!! WRONG! Again, personnal opinion, flame away, but I prefer to loose exp I would get, then loosing exp because I died, then having 5 minutes downtime before resuming the exping. Whenever I am leader, I'm not affraid to use Call for help if I am convinced ANYONE in the party will die. Now, don't think I go and abuse it to kill exp, I really used it 3 times so far in my whole playing time, when in exp party as leader. But again, I prefer to call for help then having a death on my hand. It's no fair to anyone not calling for help, just so the 3-4 people alive can get 180-200 exp, while the others loose 3 or 4 times as much.
So, callfor help, take care of the bad situation, rest and start again in a couple of minutes, no death, no shout for raise, no long downtime!
Ok, things are looking pretty bad and someone will surely die. Quick, call for help and zone the prey! BAD!!!! No zoning. You called for help, you did not turn the problem over to someone else. If you call for help, have the courtesy to stay and fight with people that came to your rescue, no matter how close you are to dying. Grow some balls and suck it up. Nothing worst then helping someone and see them taking off.. and then you're screwed.
The above is the reason why I am posting this. I had a few experience recently where someone called for help then fleed, leaving ME with a DC or EM mob.... with the obvious result.
So, now that we know how to use the call for help, what to do when you see one? Point and laugh? I can understand if you are already fighting a mob, but if you are not, why on earth would you not run over to help. Anyone who has partied with me, especially in Crawler's Nest can testify I am always rushing to wherever a call for help happens. It's common sense and I have NEVER died doing so (except on the recent one that I mentionned, where the other fleed  ). If your party follows you, you'll be just fine. Chances are a 3rd party will jump in and the linking mob is gonna crap his pants.
Few exemples:
Garlaige, my party and Kateverlasting's party are having a bad day, we both keep getting links or aggro. Well both parties were using call for help and helping each other, resulting in no deaths, no zoning, no training!
Last week, Yhoathor Jungle, nightmarish! People kept zoning gob smithy. And we all know that a smithy will walk back to it's comfy spot, aggroing every party on the way. If he is lucky, there will be more gobbie friends to join him. Well everytime there was a smithy on the loose, people would call for help and every party would jump on it. Hell, I had just died from a bad pull (that's another subject, you pull a link, take it like a man and die! don't bring it to screw up everyone) and jumped in even with weakness. They're had to be 20 people on that gob, I just coult not resist... and no, I still did not die! Again, no one died because of wandering gobs around the zone.
This is a team game, I know everyone realizes it! But it does not ends in your party. If you see a call for help, unless it's a Behemoth in Qufim, for god's sake help!!!!!
So anyway, this post is long enough as it is, but just to sum it up:
-Leave the leader in charge of calling for help
-Call for help before anyone in your party dies, it's not fun for nobody!
-Don't zone when you call for help, stay and fight!
- When people call for help, it means they need it. Be a sports and help out. They already have hate, all they need is to kill it quick! So bash away.
Allright, I'm ready, flame!
