Can't Freaking level anymore in ffxi

I forget where I saw the numbers, but there are still over 1 million individual accounts across all servers. Bear in mind most of those are likely mules, but even if each character only had one mule, 500,000 players still isn't small by any stretch (it isn't Guild Wars or World of Warcraft, but meh).

Last consensus put the population at <500,000.

As for how long an MMO can go? FFXI's peak beat EQ's peak, and EQ's still has a live development team.

I cant help but to slightly agree with everyone about this. Since most xp pts dont need more then 1 tank I dont completley disagree with there only being 2/18 tank jobs, same for support/healing jobs and such.

I think that zalt made a good point too they should make some mobs with moer special abilties that bypass and sometimes eleminate shadows also.

The bottom line is it is mostly players fault ive had pld @ 75 for like months but due to my dislike for playing nin ill prob never take that job to 75. Maybe if they created some special way higher lvl ppl can pt with lower lvl ppl like the guide and sprout beret where both can still get xp. At times im bored and I cant find a pt @ my lvl it would be nice to kinda penalize my xp to maybe join a lower lvl pt and not ruiin there xp. Ro maybe more bcnms, isnm, enms where there reward was a good amount of xp and not items (like 10-15k xp). Make them last a while like 30 min + and give rewards otu accordingly.

Having mobs with moves that ignore/go through shadows won't really solve the problem. Heck, SE has implemented mobs with shadow ignoring TP moves since CoP, and it's obviously not helping the problem much. You would probably need exp mobs that are PLD friendly and cannot be burned, which I don't see happening at all. Unless Defense becomes useful again...

The problem still lies with player's attitudes.

I quit leveling my main job a year ago for gear, subs etc. and have only been in two parties since (both LS requests). Sue me.

Yeah, I mentioned as much when they first thought this idea would stop cannons, but it didn't seem to sink in then. They're also completely ignoring how before ToAU, more than half of the cannons didn't use utsusemi at all, unless your monks were complete pussies. All the ignore-utsusemi moves would do is lower the exp/hour of the cannons, it wouldn't effect the number of them in the slightest nor would it let other jobs attend.

Defense/VIT actually doing something WOULD lead to PLD's becoming more "efficient" as tanks. They're perfectly effective now, but cutting down on the damage they take would make them more efficient for cannon-style exp and therefore more popular.

It still wouldn't do a goddamn thing to make the job more plentiful in /search though, since it's up to people to decide what they want to level. Most people want to level DD jobs, SE could add 500 tank jobs and if no one wants to play them, there still won't be tanks out there.

I must be in the minority that loves playing tank jobs. I really should play PLD again but i'm not sure I have it in me to level again :(.

Asura jumper! >.>

Anyways, I like tanking. The first job I took to 75 was Paladin, and it looks like Ninja is going to be my second 75 job.

You like gettin' beat on Kirai. We know this.

Hmm that's weird I almost never have trouble finding a Tank... I meen there are the dead spots of course, but tanks never seem that hard to come by. Healers i have more trouble with, then again I think its always been like this no?

hmmm

True that, I see at many different levels several DD's attempting to bounce hate around to make up for not having a dedicated tank, their thinking is more damage dealt by all adds up to faster kills more chains etc of course when one or two of them falls to a nasty move that a PLD or Ninja would have survived easy its a different story.
