Can't Freaking level anymore in ffxi

You tend to notice MP efficiency concerns more after levelling a support job. You tend to notice hate concerns more after levelling a tank job. You tend to notice damage output concerns more after levelling a DD job. While that doesn't mean you *can't* notice these things without levelling suitable jobs, it doesn't negate the fact that experience lends itself to a broader perspective.

I really like this quote. One of my biggest pet peeves is people who are oblivious and or ignorant to cooperate with other party members when they don't know the extent of what the other members are dealing with.

Utsusumi isnt really the cornerstone of cannon pt's, because /nin is only truly effective in the WAR situations where youre able to double attack so much, plus have that added hit on WS's. The cornerstone of cannon pt's is the dual wield, and utsu comes in second as a safety precaution. Even if war uses a GA, they still have the upper hand because of natural DA ability

This is why (before the 2h update) that when you subbed nin on a 2h job, you were simply undesirable. You dont have double attack, and you dont have the added hit from dual wield. MNK can get past this because of its impressive speed + KA's, and SAM can get past this because of its massive TP gain. DRK might be able to get past it, but /war or /sam is still more efficient, and /sam (/war too) became much safer since Dread Spikes was introduced.

DRG never needs Utsusumi in the first place due to its ability to shed all hate in an instant

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

It really boggles my mind to try to understand how people can grind through the bloated tnl numbers all the way to 75, alot of them multiple times on different jobs, and see those people have little to no clue on the most basic concepts of gameplay. I haven't done alot of things with you in game, couple crappy merit parties here and there, random pickup event like DM do-over. You seem like a nice guy. There are alot of assholes in the game but I'd say you don't seem to be one in my experience. That makes it hard to have to bust your chops when you say such ass backwards things on here all the time.

I'm sure that in your mind you feel like you are Charlie Brown and everyone is picking on you for no reason. In some cases like the retards that made fun of your picture that's true. The majority of the time though it's because you say stuff that is just completely out there and anyone with half a brain that plays this game just falls the fuck out of their chair reading it and has to respond hoping that you will read it and start to wise up.

I don't have too much to add that I haven't already said in other posts about cannon parties. Rappa, Vil, and Baja pretty much have it covered. I don't see what's so hard to understand that in meripo damage mitigation > mp sponge with higher damage output. Your gear/merits/skill determine whether you are a good DD or not. What sub you use will only enhance that. If Antdog could go war/war he'd still suck.

One thing I would add that no one commented on. "DRG never needs Utsusumi in the first place due to its ability to shed all hate in an instant." I'm sure you realize that High Jump and Super Jump are both on 3 minute recast timers right? So it seems logicial to you that those 2 JA's with 3 minute recast timers are going to keep a pimped out DRG from getting his ass smacked around alot better than Utsusemi right? Those were actually rhetorical questions by the way, no need to respond because by making the statement in the first place you clearly show you can't come up with the correct answer.

The original topic has been answered too. They can come up with 5 new tanking jobs but if no one wants to play those jobs then it doesn't matter. There's nothing SE can do about that unless you expect them to come up with some subliminal brainwashing scheme to make people that don't want to play tanking jobs change their minds.

ironically when i saw the title I thought this be a flame on me by Zaltana or Keryan for saying no to exp on my rdm >_>'

@ Willan: This is a incredibly dumb question forgive me but, does rdm have to sub /nin too in exp? Does hate bounce around that much to use it over /whm or /blm?

I've never had a rdm/nin in meripo. They don't cure enough to get hate, mainly just throwing hastes and the odd Dia II around.

No, RDM/NIN in merits isn't good. At all. I assume he did it so Sleep IIs don't get cast back on him by Colibri... but if the BRD was BRD/WHM, they could wake him.

Oh, and only bad RDMs throw out Dia II. Dia III is where it's at!

i've seen some good samurai tanks, they can be mp sponges at times but they hold hate well without using provoke at some times

as for monk, i cant really speak for them since i am not one, but it seems that their builds have a potential for tanking

i dk call me a noob, tell me i know nothing of what i speak, but it looks to me that given the right skill, gear set, and skills lvled a mnk could do a bangarang job of tanking
Welcome to the world of paper vs reality. On paper, monk looks like it might be able to tank reasonably well. In reality, they can't. At low levels, when anyone can tank, they're pretty good; but at medium-higher levels they won't hold enough hate or they'll just be a massive MP sponge.

Counter attack does not work for weapon skills, nor does it work for magic; it also completely rapes your defense, so when those weapon skills hit, they will hit HARD. You also can't counter attack when you have shadows up, plus no provoke without /war, so you'd be taking a ton of damage every time you get hit. About the only saving grace would be that guards reduce damage taken by obscene amounts, around 75%, but that's not something to really depend on. It's also by far the most difficult skill to cap in the entire game, so good luck even finding a monk with nearly capped guard; let alone depending on that for tanking.

Dodge isn't nearly as useful as it sounds, even with AF boots, you're still not going to dodge nearly as much as you'd think.

Then, look to gear. In order to tank better, since you have no shadows, you'd have to wear gear to reduce your damage taken or boost your evasion/guard rate. This would lower your damage output, and since your only source of hate would be through damage and provoke, it'd lower your ability to hold hate. To compensate, you could wear +enmity gear, but that'd lead to the same problem.

Mantra sucks and is completely useless. Chakra takes too long to cool down to depend on for a prolonged fight. Max HP Boost is only there because you need something to keep you alive when you pull hate, since you're only wearing cloth armor.

So no, you don't know what you're talking about.

one thing SE can do to fix the situation is make mobs that have moves that ignire shadows. utsu is the cornerstone of cannon parties. but if the mobs they tried to cannon off of simply rippeed through shadows they would rely so heavily on it. i would like to think monks would rather sub war then nin.

The last time i remember, almost all toau mobs can strip shadows easily, aka Firespit, Pecking Flurry.

I have similar situation with a ls member that only want to do massive damage on parser and never consider to reduce his role as Mp sponger. I tried to explain to him why /NIN can be useful in some instance but he just does not get it xD, oh dear.

Melees who do not want to level NIN are the reason I invented the verb "to Skoffin". It's really quite remarkable how quickly they have a change of heart.

fire spit goes right through shadows. pecking fury is 4 hits that will eat a whole Ni. it doesnt ignore shadows like firespit, it just eats them for breakfast.

i was refering to moves that ignore shadows completly.

This is funny for me, because.. I haven't read the flameboard much at all the last 2 months... and the FIRST thing I see when I come back? A good ol' Ruffy-being-dumbass-section-time. Or something.

Good stuff, good stuff.

Like sea version of Sickle Slash? XD -.- No, thanks.

Firespit from mage type (blue skinned) Mamool will ignore shadows but it will not strip them. Firespit from melee type (brown skinned) will not ignore shadows and will strip them.

Sorry for being off topic just wanted to clear this up

i dont have sea yet. what mob does this?

i've never tanked a mamool ja. but i know firespit and utsu dont get along from it being the only thing that requiered a cure 4 from me.

It might strip shadows, but more often than not, even the melee's firespit will just ignore your shadows and do damage. If it does hit your shadows, there's a huge chance that it will overspill and still do damage to you. The chances of any mamool's firespit to be completely blocked by your shadows is very, very low.
