I have been working on capping skills for my (Thief) Maat fight, but have been at a quandry as to what to get skill off of.
in the past i capped it while steal farming, pulling Tough mobs to a zone after stealing, thus getting skill from their crippling strikes, but allowing Tough and greater mobs to wail on me is proving quite dissapointing, so i was wondering if anyone knew of a decent way to safely(via easily accessible zone, or survivability) and effectively cap Thief Evasion for level 70 (251)

thanks in advance for any input

something i neglected to mention -- my current skill is 242

know of any higher tier beastmen or anything T in strength that you can use hide to evade? you can let them wail on you until you're almost dead then hide and rest hp back up.

No gobbies or Yags that i can see, don't remember Orcs or Quads being susceptable to hide either...

Hide works on alot more than beastmen too. puk, dragons(I think), cobroli, ahriman( aviod anyway cause of petrification) and anything else that doesnt use scent tracking can be hidden from that isnt true sight.

High tier goblins in Bibiki Bay should work fairly well. Just hide when u need to.

Hang out with Vilurum, Eleibfrid, Shyrra, or Gain.

Surely you'll cap it like I did!

In all seriousness, Crabs in Kuftal Tunnel helped me a majority of my way towards cap. Grab some peeps and someone who needs some coffer keys and go nuts.

That's what I did. Bring an Earth Staff at least...
You might even manage to make some money.

evenmateches will cap your skill as well. Go to the place where you find ramuh, in the tunnel under the waterfall there is a crab which is evenmatch. I capped my eva on him. if it is decent chalenge, make it despawn until it repos em.

At 70, those will all be EM+, if not T+. Shouldn't be any DC at level 70.

Also don't forget Signet. Faster healing these days should make this pretty painless.

My advice: head to the top of the Boyadha Tree, and pick a fight with a steelshell near the zoneline to the Cloister of Storms. Repeat as needed until desired effect is reached.

Indeed, crabs are great, no dangerous high-damage ws's.
And, there is one in the tunnel 5 feet from the zone ^^

Not to mention that on 70 you wont find any DC's.
EM > VT methinks since they con DC > T on 75.

I spent a few days in Bibiki Bay working on my eva skill. Just wear a bunch of -eva gear and /whm to cut down on resting. Eva skill up with Stoneskin was a nice little perk. I focused mostly on the lvl 63-ish xp Gobs and then went to Boyahda Tree to annoy Steelshells by Ramuh's zone. Good luck on capping it. ^^

salvage and limbus are great places to lvl skills as well. most my archery skills have come from salvage while I wait for my magic to get unlocked.

I capped mine on gobs in Bibiki Bay. Here's what I did:

I went thf/whm for self curing to take some more hits. More hits = more chances to skill up. Bring highest defense equipment you can get, and get HP+ gear where you can. Do not equip any evasion+ gear. While you can get skill ups while evading an attack, chances are much lower than actually getting hit. Don't forget a shield, as this is a chance to possibly get some skill ups there. (May as well, can't use /nin for Maat anyway)

Cast Protect 2 and rest up MP to full. Then pull your mob of choice. I usually used the 1st hobgoblin martialist you come to. Let him whack on you a bit, using bloodies (possible marks skill ups) and Cure 2/3 (don't forget Divine Seal when it's up). Just before you get into red HP after depleting MP, use Hide. Do not wait till actually in red, as the gob can double attack and kill you.

I actually capped out evasion and marksmanship for Maat using this method, and later went back and capped out evasion for 75 on the even higher gobs farther in.

Up to 74, I went /war (defender) + earth staff and had someone curebomb me. Ironically, I capped 75 evasion in like 5 minutes off steelshells with shadows up, lol.

why - evasion gear? you need to evade to get skill ups, so +eva!
