When i quit i was leveling WAR. Now with the new update and 2handers are in, where are the best places to skill up. GA is at 80 right now, need to get it to 200. Please, places to do this are very appriciated. I remember there being a site somewhere with the list of mobs and where the skill caps at, but i forget.

id start on bettles in the citedel then move to robber crabs and finaly steelshells

kels its pretty easy go to kuftal tunnel think that caps around 120ish if memory serves me right after that go to the boyahda tree and you can get rather close to cap once you move onto the upper levels of the tree. but the easiest way to cap Gaxe is once you hit around 220ish on skill start using it everywhere from besieged, sky, dynamis, and exp parties just stock up on acc items and sushi

doesn't matter what lvl you are as long as your with a skillup group your best options is kuftal tunnel the boyahda tree for cap

lol kely i haven't been on ffxi for almost 5 months besides the other night still working on getting permanent internet at my house

Also, on a related note. What updates did SE do to 2handers, minus grips. Just want to know.

1 STR = 1 attack, 1 DEX = 1 accuracy, along with changing a bunch of weapon skills. Now, you can wear more haste/attack gear without having to worry as much about accuracy. Plus, the damage formula was modified to make 2-handed weapons stronger.

I use the goblins outside kazaam to get to around 90-100 skill, then Kuftal tunnle caps at around 200. I've goten it to 203 there before i didn't want to swing at crabs anymore. After that Qulun Dome, where you get the crest for G3, has the best mobs or the Steelshels in the tree, by where the SleepgaII NM is popped will take you to 200+. Thats how i did Gaxe, GS, 2x axes, and 2x swords on my Drk way back when.

FYI, the simple and general version of how to skillup is this:

- A mob can skill you up to whatever number you capped at, when you were the level the mob is.

(A corollary of this is that in order to skill up to *cap*, you need an Even Match or stronger mob. But you can skillup to various points below cap - say, if you're way behind on your skill - by starting with wimpy TWs, moving on to stronger TWs, eventually to EPs, then DCs, and finally to EM+ to cap.)

And yes, that does mean that the same mob will cap different skills at different numbers depending on how good you are with the weapon. Thus if you took, say, a level 60 Kuftal Robber Crab (yes, I'm aware they go up to 63) and had a 60+ WAR and a 60+ BST both skilling up sword on it (WAR has B, BST has E), then the WAR would be able to skillup to 196 and the BST would be able to skillup to 171.

Point being that you can't just say that X mob can take you to Y skill, because the exact skill number depends on how good you are with the skill. A mob that can take an A+ weapon to 240 may not even be able to take a D weapon to 200, so you can't just go "yeah, that mob can take you to 240 skill" or anything.

It's good to know how it works so you can do a bit of simple arithmetic to pick out what mob levels you need to target, then do a bit of mob research to find mobs of those levels that are relatively safe to fight. (Not particularly dangerous, and not in an aggro/link prone environment.)

Any 2 handed weapon user using sushi gets automatically kicked from the party unless the leader is desperate or cant find anyone else if they have any sense at all. Let this be a warning against any advice to use sushi in exp with a GAxe.

lol khajit food is entirely situational albiet i haven't been around for the update but i was a Gaxe war long before the update and when i was skilling up Gaxe sushi was a viable option if you couldn't hit the mob

trust me.. in today's conditions you're going to hit the mob or you had no business being in the party.
gaxe+ sushi+exp pt= /boot-->/ass

thats true for a lvl 75 war with atleast a Gaxe skill of 250 but pre 75 sushi is a viable option for Gaxe. any war needs to be able to gear themselves where they no longer have to use sushi period except on maybe mamools even then thats kinda a moot point
