After I installed it on my board, things blew up, in a good way. It's basically a lounge, and flashchat and others just can't do it for ya. Let me know if you want the exact one I'm using.
Only problem is it's a bit server heavy, but it should be ok. You can always replace it with one that's not so ajaxy later if you'd like.
I was against it for MONTHS for slightly different reasons.. Basically, I was wrong, lol.I think that was the biggest thing that pulled us away from installing it. We aren't exactly sure how the server will be able to handle it. That isn't a no though!![]()
Can we talk with tonberrys and turtles at least on the chatbox?![]()
I would go with a usergroup to view it. That way would be easy for people to be banned from it (just remove them from the user group) and people could very easily leave the user group if they didn't even want to see it.
What about instead of a chatbox, get an irc channel, and then make a separate forum page for the irc web chat? (not having to download a client)
A chatbox imo is a bit annoying... Many other people would agree, especially if its viewable by everyone. If a chatbox is added, could it be made viewable by a usergroup?
I don't see the harm in trying it out for a week or two. If it turns out to be a big steaming pile of shit we just uninstall it.
Wow, duh. Thank you for reminding me of this very, very important point. I can assure you that a lot of forums have certain things in common, like members, threads, posts, and a chance that people will utilize a chatbox. We also have our problem posters. The key is to MODERATE your chatbox, but allow it some leeway as it will get very busy.Your forum =/= Qcdn.
I say yes for a chatbox. That way i can just type in "MAKE GET THE FUCK ON AIM" and he would do so.
This kind of stuff is the only thing I'm worried about.![]()
