Compilation of NPC companion info.(PT II; Post Genkai)

I was wondering my npc has been using GS and ive been thinking about changing her to H2H well shes on her 3 lvl of GS so i was wondering do i have to start by giving her lvl 1 H2H or could i give her lvl 3 H2H weapon? havent tried it yet cuz im not able to get on the game till next month

You have to start over from the lvl 1 H2H weapon and work it up.

Incorrect, Sir.

Once you get a Weapon Upgrade level increase, you can interchange any weapons from that level or earlier, regardless of what they've used before.

Changed my NPC from using a Halberd to a Mythril Axe and Kite Shield a few nights ago. All 3 are 5th upgrade weapons.

No official message will say the level cap has been raised, but congratulations.

Hey Cythe I just completed the first Genkai and it said: "Your adventuring fellow's level limit is now 55." You think SE changed that since you did it?

Yes, it was one of the minor patches after the introductory patch. Oddly, there was a confirmation message for the JP Client, but one for the NA client was missing.

Well all be damned, I must have misread some info somewhere. Could have swore someone (either you or Cythe) mentioned this somewhere, like in this very thread.. but its too late for me to dig it up or try.. and it's not really needed. So I wont. :P

Oh, and thank you admin for listening and moving/sticking this. <3

Each will unlock an 'advanced' job of sorts for your NPC, corresponding with the original job. I chose Might, which unlocked "Fierce attacker." Endurance would unlock an advanced tanking job, while Fortitude would unlock an advanced healing job(Which I've found out is "Soothing healer").

Need to change that one. I picked up Fortitude after reading the walkthrough and got Stalwart Shield. Wanted Soothing Healer D:

I'm assuming I need an Endurance. Anyone have that one and want to trade or are willing to let me borrow it so I can unlock that one?

So you didn't even bother reading the descriptions of the Tactics Manuals, Jimm? Smooth one. ;)

Jimm, ill try to look for you ingame, I have Might, and im still needing Endurance. So we can help each other out.

It gave descriptions before you actually get it? lol... I was in a hurry to get it done so I just went with what Cythe's guide said. Had to run over and finish off CoP today.

And yea Eck I'll try to find you as well as soon as I'm done with CoP.

Sorry to bump this (more sorry if it's been asked, didn't see...)
But can I buy a 5'th for my NPC (i.e. Katar or Twicer), or do I hafto give L1 one, and upgrade one-by-one?

*edit* Also, anyone got a manual I can borrow? ^^; I wanna get ahold of the Healing and Melee ones..

You can buy whatever weapon for your NPC in that set of weapons. I have gone from H2H, GK, Club, and I just recently hit the 5th weapon upgrade and I gave her an Axe.

Regaining Trust got messed up for me... I got the Quest from Luto, I went to Infirmary, then I went straight to Qufim and examined Footprint without talking to Luto again.

The Giant didn't spawn and when I went back to talk to Luto I got the default "Can I do something for you?" response and the Infirmary was giving me nothing.

I still have the quest in my log but apparently cant do anything.

I had the same thing happen to me until I realized I didn't have my signal pearl in my inventory. When I went and got it out of my MogSafe Luto gave me the CS after the Infirmary CS and then going to the Footprint worked. So if you didn't have your Signal Pearl in your inventory try that.

Yea I didnt have it in my inventory and also thought that might be the problem but decided that would be dumb if it was the problem, so I just went to bed and didn't try it out heh.

I just want to add, because it doesn't seem to have been pointed out/discovered/mentioned, that Fierce Attacker gives the npc Counter Attack.

I normally don't notice this because well, lets face it, when exping with my npc, the only way she gets hit is if there's some kind of aoe because otherwise im taking all the damage and she just doesn't do enough to pull hate. However, when I do the Tactic's Pearl quests every week I go in as pld/war to tank while she does dmg, she does damned amazing damage on them hit for hit and WS wise (the strong WS's that is), and I noticed that when she got hate and started getting hit she was actually counter attacking a good deal. As far as I know Attacker mode doesn't have counter-attack, it's pretty much a Warrior. Seems Fierce Attacker is War/Mnk, that or it may just have the counter attack ability (along with who knows what else that may not be working properly).

Fixed Cythes error about Fortitude/Endurance Manuals since you guys decide not to read item descriptions anymore.
