It doesn't become worthwhile to accept lower accuracy. Samurai is a job about gaining tp quickly, and we can't do that if we miss.

Do Zanshin attacks not gain TP? I honestly don't know, I stopped leveling SAM once I got it to 37.

My point is that if you raise your Zanshin activation probability to a certain level, it would eventually become more profitable to lower your accuracy and raise your damage, simply because you would get enough extra attacks through the trait to more than offset the difference.

I believe Zanshin gains tp. Raider or Zoolander would know. But I agree with you there, if you increase Zanshin too high and have high accuracy to boot, one or the other is going to be useless. Higher zanshin rate, lowered acc = higher acc, lowered zanshin rate. There needs to be a balance between the two.

There are some "Poroggo Charmers" in the Woodlands, apparently. Sounds like bst

edit- okay and there are some generically named "Poroggo" in Mamook as well.

Damn you SE for not letting me play after I dl'd the update! Wait...I mean...thank you SE for the sam update...but curse you for not letting me play with it...yeah...

Anyone have a similar problem?

samurai miss enough as is... or it may be an incentive to put merits into the ikitousen category. SE seems like they are trying to let you customize your character.. instead of having everyone becoming clones of one another. It seems for some jobs.. half the new merits favor tanking while the other half favors DD.

I see Zanshin as of now as a tanking trait for sams. Because as a tank they'd probably focus on defense and vit a lil bit more than they would acc... not by much tho.. so then.. Zanshin would come into play if you have a lotta zanshin gear and ikitousen merits capped and the zanshin attack rate merits capped.

Indeed. I just want to test out Hasso and Seigan but damnit I can't play during maintenance...c'mon time! FASTER!

It took me a moment to see how Zanshin could be used in tanking. Since you take out of acc and put more into Zanshin and def/vit, having zanshin come in would be nice. Seigan makes 3rd eye actually worth using outside of soloing, which could also help in making sam a pseudo-tank.

ya, i can only see a benifit if the zanshin if it gave more tp then connecting with the first hit. ie: 15 tp a regular hit vs. 19tp for miss+zanshin.

of course thats the ishikoten merits are for, but i've havnt found any conclusive info on how those particular merit work

Yes they do, unless you hit for 0.

Zanshin is a great trait, and since /THF is needed because unless you trick hate onto tank or someone else SAM (if they are good) is going to be getting hit, and you deffinatly notice Zanshin going off. I also have the Bushido Cape, and it does seem to work according to what the item description says it does.

/THF, Bushido Cape
/WAR, Ahenmt<sp?> Mantle

You do realise the average BLM would give so much go have that new DRK/PLD armor...

Bastards.

They share many similaritys, think yin-yang, rather than Black & white.

Yea... what the Taru said. MAB +9 AND Magic Acc +9... zomg. Gimme.... >.<

Also, I see melee gear for PUP! Woot! Like those pseudo-Kitty Pants.

Another thing I was curious about, since they're lowering the lvl requirement for Zanshin to 20, does that mean they're gonna add more Zanshin traits as you lvl up for increased activation rate? I'm hoping they do, but I doubt thats how it'll be.

Maybe Ishikoten merits act something like a specialized store tp for Zanshin only . Where each point you put into Ishikoten is like one for store tp. A plausable theory, no?

There's one problem with Zanshin.

You miss, you Zanshin, but the Zanshin swing has just as much accuracy as the first swing did.

True. But that gives us a chance to attack again, sorta like a do-over, ya know? If it misses, that sux. If it connects, all right!

Thought: What if, and this could never possibly happen...ever, you missed and Zanshin goes off but that misses and you Zanshin again...and again...and again...forever lol

I always thought that Zanshin was kind of a "you shouldn't rely on this / buff this up, but it's there just in case" kinda thing? Rather than trying to enhance Zanshin, shouldn't you be trying to just enhance your acc so you aren't using Zanshin in the first place?

True, but the game operates on probability. If you miss 25% of the time, and you Zanshin on 75% of misses, and those Zanshin also only miss 25% of the time... Unlikely I realize, but I don't know if anyone has truly tested out the Enhance Zanshin effects. Is it greater probability of activation, more TP/swing, greater accuracy, what?

The hypothetical posed here is that if you can raise your Zanshin activation to a certain level, would it not become more effective to exploit the ability and accept lower accuracy in order to gain higher damage. If you can deal 20% more damage, while sacrificing 15% of your accuracy, only to have Zanshin activate enough to more than offset the difference, wouldn't that be worth pursuing?

It is, in effect, the same as the argument between stacking Haste instead of Accuracy on melee.

Oh, and I'll eat babies for Ice Gauntlets.
