PS3 DC Universe Online

The game isn't meant to be a grind at all. I was able to get to 30 in about a week yeah x_x.

Most of the gameplay is geared towards being level 30, there is a ton of content.

I got to level 21 last night. Having awesome fun with it. Going to try and get 25 today and then have 30 by Tuesday! I'm so productive /rolls eyes.

Reya! I still need to join your league or whatever haha. I have no idea how to work the chat system though lol.

I'm still leagueless ;;

I am trying to get a static group of 30s together for some of the end game content. When you hit 30 let me know! I got the heals covered 8)

Count me in! Sounds like it'd be epicness.

I bought the game today, i'll be on virtue and vice as soon as the 8.8 gig update rolls through *rolls eyes*

Other than reya, can people list the names of their characters so I can add you? Thanks!

A game doesn't need some high level to be good. If anything, it should be judged by it's content, not how long you grind to get to the content.

I rolled a rifle/gadgets character... not sure if I like this combo all that much yet. I stun a crapload of things though.

My character on Virtue and Vice is called Luther. I'm level 21 Ice/Bow hero.

Controllers are always welcomed on alert runs. <3

Meh. There are certain 'milestones' in mmo's and usually the 'halfway' point is one of them, somehow being level 15 just doesn't seem so awe inspiring. Part of the whole system of why mmo's even work is that it takes you at least some time to reach the max level. "End game" content shouldn't be the only important content.

Since I've been using Champions as my prime example, I'll continue with that. At level 30 in champions you are still a bit off from being max level (which I think is either 40 or 50, can't remember) but you still have a lot of powers and around this level you start doing some epic quests where you fight through a story based level and then fight a miniboss and ultimately fight a super villain (boss) before the quest is finished. It's definitely a milestone and something you can look back on and go "Man that was really awesome." Of course towards the endgame there are more quests like these that pit you up with the world's super villains, but those mid-range battles are something you never quite forget.

Even in non-Super Hero mmo's, leveling is usually a process and there's a point where you feel like you've accomplished something by getting that level even when you know you still have more to do. For example, getting level 50 and being able to start your artifact quests in FFXI and then by 60 finishing them all and wearing your new armor even though at the time, you still knew you had to get to 75. In WoW, getting to 60 and getting my first flying mount felt like an achievement, finally gaining far more freedom in travel even though there are other achievements to get as well and 85 is the max level.

Going by this you also run the risk of the Aion effect. You get a long grind to level cap, just to be greeted with a greater non-inspiring grind.

When you hit level 30 in DCUO the following is open for you to explore that only level 30's have access to:
- 4 Duo instances
-6 Hard 4 man Alerts (Instances)
-4 PvP arenas 4-8 ppl
-2 long 8 man raids
-2-? 4 man world instances

At 30, you also get access to earn marks towards your end game PvE or PvP gear sets, which have seperate sets depending on what your focus is in (DPS/Tank/Healer/Controller). You earn marks by completing daily quests involving the list above. I have a partner I duo a lot with, she and I can normally score 6-15 marks in one hour. Each armor piece bought by marks starts at 44-65 marks each. (there are 4 or 5 different types of marks you can get to include PvP)

Metropolis and Gotham are huge cities. There is plenty of open PvP between heroes and villains as well as suprisingly a whole lot of RP going on. There are also super villian spawns that appear in the cities that you will need to group up with to defeat.

Levels 1-30 are an introduction to the game. You have story missions and quests, access to easier alerts every 5 levels or so, lower level instances (most can be solo'd) and PvP. I would rather have a game that keeps end game content coming than a grindfest that lacks innovation.

What Reya said. Seriously, throughout playing this I've never come across and boring quest. Everything is so quick paced, action packed and fun.

The only quest line I kinda don't like is the Green Lantern Sinestro line. Jesus them mobs are annoying how they throw you around...

The Black Adam quest against Isis was bugged for me. It didn't complete for me until I went back at level 30 in a duo alert with my friend lol.

How close are you 30? :D

I got to 25 last night. Probably going to get to 28 at least tonight and then cap tomorrow. I slacked off a little and was playing my PvP character with a friend for a lot of the time. He's almost near cap too haha.

Look me up when you hit cap so we can run instances together :)!

It sucks the PS3 version can't play with the PC version or I'd totally hop on your server.

I've got four or five characters I rotate playing with, both hero and villain. I'll be leveling one when I get an idea for another and then I can't help myself but make a new character. The ones I use the most are dual wield/fire (totally OP) and Brawling/Ice.

Just finished clearing the Arkam Asylum Alert. The Scarecrow's wing of the prison is really dark and creepy. The boss fight was hard too. You can't let your terror meter get to 100 D:!

I just got to cap yesterday on my PvP character. Um, it's a little odd that my main is level 26 while my sub character is capped haha.

I want to see some more screenshots from you Reya. Though I doubt I'll ever play this game, I do enjoy looking at screenshots (if they are good). Helps me get a bit more of an idea of the game.

So far this game is fun :D

I have 4 toons,
2 on the virtue and vice server, and 2 on a PVP server... so far I am enjoying the PVP server a bit more, but honestly it is really hard to get all my quests done lol!
