My only major complaint that the game is far too linear. You pretty much follow the glowing arrow on your map to each objective, fighting baddies on the way. Oh, getting from point a to point b is fucking scary (FUCK YOU VACUUM AND YOUR NO SOUND) and when you're going through each area for the first time the game is good at keeping you guessing as to what's going to happen, but as soon as you die and do the section again, its no longer even close to as scary.
You know that when you step past X spot, a dude busts out of the wall and claws at your face. Though there were a few moments when I had to laugh at the game for how good it was at distracting me.
Runs Forward, dude busts out the wall, munches on my torso, respawn.
Runs forward, dodges the dude who busts out of the wall, severs limbs with Cutter, gets raped from behind by other dude who snuck out of the floor behind me. Respawn
Runs forward, dodges dude who busts out of the wall, severs limbs with cutter, dodges dude who tried sneaking out of the floor again, severs more limbs, gets dismembered by dude who came around the corner I was headed towards when Dude busted out of the wall. Swear at game, Respawn.
Weapons: I love them. They all have uses, and not just "Only use this gun for this baddie type, because it sucks otherwise. They can pretty much all be used for each enemy type, and the Cutter is probably the best of them all even though the Line Gun is fun for slicing dudes in half.
Second thing that's not really a complaint or a compliment is the fact that Issac never talks. I don't have an issue with it, but my friend said it annoyed her a little. My responce was that every time I heard them say "Issac" I replaced it with "Dr. Freeman." And its obvious that the developers paid attention to Half Life, because the dialog is pretty decent at keeping it from being a problem.
Unfortunatly they didn't pay enough attention to Half-Life, which leads me to my only other real complaint. We. Need. A. Crowbar. Its a survival horror game, where conserving ammo is a must. Yet the melee attack sucks at doing anything but maybe knocking them back for more than a second, before they're back to shredding your face on a cheese grater. A warning to everyone playing the game, when you run out of ammo, you're better off just standing still and dying because that'll happen anyways.
Now, my biggest praise for the game (Other than reminding me that not being able to hear things is not a good thing) is that there's no hud that shows radar, or health, or anything. Your ammo is a little hologram on your gun that's only visible when you're aiming, your health is a guage on the back of your suit, and the inventory screens are holograms that pop up in front of your character, and he actually LOOKS at it, rather than staring dumbly off into space while you browse your inventory.
Also, this game makes me doubt that EA actually made it. I mean, its a good game, but there's an EA sticker on the box. How could that be true?
If haddn't already saved my Game Of The Year for LittleBigPlanet, I'd probably give it to this. Great game, and hard mode really is hard o.o
