I'm calling it now, in the next week prices will take a substantial drop. They won't be all the way back to where they were, but I see most dropping at least half way back down.

I don't see much of a drop in any prices - not while you have characters out there with over 100M in gil (of which there are a lot)

It'd be nice if it was true...

I'm not sure what caused the 200-300% jump over Christmas, so i don't see why it would reverse itself...

Because no one has any more bought gil, nor will those items be in such a huge demand now.

I blame the event. Everyone was too busy collecting cards. I noticed the price hike in crystals right there and then. I was levelling smithing at that point, so I was constantly checking the prices of fire crystals. At one point there was about 4 in stock, and the price was already 6k. (Bastok)

Raxa prices bwwwoooooom - ground, so Sano tells me.

It was selling for 500k, now it's down to 300k. That's still double what it was before christmas.

People who bought gil with their christmas money. Most people who normally would have trouble with money or justifying spending their money found themselves with extra cash.

I wish I got US$500 for Christmas (although I would have found a lot better things to spend it on...)

Maybe that's all it was (combined with a lot of players having a lot of free time), but I've never believed that gilbuying was high enough to triple the price of every high priced item in the game over the course of a week....

It'd be sad if I was wrong...

There was a panic, price hikes, people bought stuff as soon as it hit AH for 25% above last sale price, so next person jacked it even more, and it promptly sold again. People stopped buying, it's out of hand, and things are gonna get kicked back from AH, and you'll see twice as many of the elite items on AH as you would have ever seen before at one time. Competition leads to undercutting, leads to price drops. It's gonna happen this next week.

....Or, those bastards might be all in on the game and WON'T undercut just so they can keep the prices the same. Take a look at the oil companies. We don't have an oil crisis as big as before, but I'm still paying $2.33 at the pump!

Be sad then. Every place that offers power leveling were jam packed and most gil/gold selling companies were in short supply after Christmas.

If they're all in on it, why would they have 8 SH's up at the AH now? Next person that goes to sell their SH sees 8 up and says "oh crap, I need to undercut if I want to sell this" Then they look at price history, which has gone from 16M for 8 sales to 15.5M to 15M and say "oh crap, price is really dropping, I better undercut really big."

Prices will go down... Staves are already going down because no one is buying the Elemental Ore for the rediculous prices and there is a shit load of em up right now.

This makes me laugh, how do you know this?

The only thing I can think of is you either buy gill in huge quanties and they told you we don't have that much or you sell gill and they told you we need more because we runnin low work harder.

You give no facts to this, you just make acusations (spelled wrong I'm sure) and try to state them as fact because its your opinion.

since it's gonna go down, anyone have a Sniper's/Woodsman for sale for 2mil? lol

Honestly I think I may be done with this game unless with the 360 launch they open up new servers with no character transfers...

The hassles and frustrations in this game really outweigh the fun aspects for me anymore. I think it's been almost 3 weeks since I logged in last and even longer than that since I actually wanted to. Hmmm perhaps the habit has finally been broken after all these years...

I agree it's probably peaked out. Christmas money = presents. As silly as it is, wouldn't buying your son's manthra a scorpion harness make him happier than buying him a sweater :P

(yes it was a silly example but think about it.)

people suddenly had a lot of money, and wanted the items, LOTS of them. Demand increases, supply dwindles.

How much were x-box-360's going for this christmas on e-bay? You could buy a fricking CAR for some of those. Now that the rush is dying, theres going to be 500 xbox's, scorpion harnesses, etc on the shelves and suddenly no one wants them. Price plummets.

Maybe never as low as it once was, but the crazy extortion should dry up just about the same time as IGE's christmas sale ends. *nodnod*

I'm not sure this will work, but I applaud it as the best idea for reducing inflation I've seen so far. At least some people on this world have their heads screwed on right.

Are you referring to this thread? Tell people deflation is coming, and they will think it is, leading them to behave in a way that causes deflation?

Honestly that's part of the motive for this post, although deflation is starting to hit, I'm just giving out the warning, and helping speed it along a little bit. Some items won't go back down, sorry Chinis, sniper/woodsman have too low of a supply and too high of a demand to drop down anywhere near those prices, if they even drop at all.
