~survival belt? hp+17 and evasion? yeah, you'd get kicked for that.

you're crazy. brown belt is QUESTABLE - spend time to quest your damn item.

Agreed.

Just like i'd expect any 60+ to have most if not all of their useable AF. Theres no excuse for not having a questable piece of gear, especially one as good as the Brown Belt. I wouldnt kick someone for it, but its coureousy to your fellow players to have it.

Oh, so it's ok not to have it because it's hard...yet every MNK should have brown belt?? I say MNK should have a brown belt when they can solo Morbolger. Until then kicking them from a party for lack of it is elitist, and very wrong.

lol tim. Of course MNK has some good gear, not all, which baja apparently doesnt like, but some jobs' AF is practically useless in parties. Me, as a drg (and sorry for relating once again), I hardly use my AF when exping, duo/solo or in pts, except for my AF boots and helm. the added damage from the boots is very useful and the helm is great when needing healing breath. The other pieces are practically crap when looking at what other gear you can get.

Difficulty of the fights isn't the issue, obviously the black belt NM's would be harder since they are higher level. The issue is the rarity of the items, the NQ kings have a ~5% drop rate on the black belt items, and the kings spawn around once a week. That means, that if each item goes to a monk for upgrading and a monk gets all three before another monk gets an item, there would be about 65 black belts made every year. Obviously those optimal conditions don't exist, with different linkshells claiming and people not being able to attend every camp, so the number is far less. This quest also requires all of the other quests being completed as well, which automatically makes it more difficult than a previous quest.

Brown belt, on the other hand, has 365 morbolger vines added every year, and the two other NM's spawn many times a day. So, because of the vastly larger amount of items for the brown belt quest than the black belt quest, the brown belt is far easier.

Out of everything said, I just want to say one thing. Don't go DRG/DRK. It makes us look bad.

To keep it on topic though, I am all for having every piece as early as you can get it. I remember playing DRG and never advancing a level until I had what I needed. I stopped when I needed a SH. I stopped when I needed my AJ. I stopped when I needed my OHat. Get your shit or don't seek. If you have time to party, you have time to farm/quest.

I didnt say that. I never said that other jobs suck, nor did i ever say that I hate the other jobs. I merely stated that I like soloing because i dont have to deal with most crappy parties that ive been lucked into recently. I dont like dealing with a bad puller, or a bad tank, or a bad whm. I like relying on myself for cures, defense, and DD.
So you don't like partying with gimps and people that suck at their jobs? I think that makes you an elitist.

No, i never said anything to do with gear. When a pld doesnt voke every 30 secs when a thf is NOT involved, and is the only source of hate control, hes a bad pld. If a whm refuses to cure certain pt members and becomes stubborn and disbands, thats a bad whm. When a rng pulls 5 links in a row causing instant death multiple times, thats a bad puller.

EDIT: If a job doesnt do what its supposed to lv 40+... something is wrong regardless of gear

It's not that I don't like the gear, but I don't like when people completely ignore one of the two the defining items of the job. Monk AF is mostly the same way; hands and body are good enough to be worn full time, there's obviously better but those are fine options if you don't have millions to spend. Head, Feet and Legs, though, should not be worn full time, since they provide no benefits; and the "best gear" for those slots is maybe 50,000 each, hardly a difficult amount to get. The brown belt is the ONLY expensive/relatively difficult gear in the game that I find it completely unacceptable to level without.

My friend is leveling DRK right now, she's around 30, and saved up enough money to buy her Haubergeon the other week on top of partying; that's the kind of dedication that makes a good player, actually caring about their gear. It's a hell of a lot better than someone who tries to get to 75 with only 100k of gear on their toon.

If a melee is hitting 60% of the time because he has no acc gear, he is a bad melee.

If a whm is running out of MP at chain 3 because he has no MP gear he is a bad whm.

If a blm is getting resisted on his nukes because he doesn't have int gear, he is a bad blm.

Gear accounts for more than just elitist views, it actually benefits a party.

What about the BC fights that drop the items? Can't they be manaburned? I do believe so. There you go get some seals and sponser a run. That way you don't even need to worry about the spawn times of the monsters that drop the items.

I understand that, and I wouldn't want to party with those people either; but the thing is, all of those are due to the person's play style, and are largely irrelevant of gear. As a melee DD job, gear is just about everything, you can't just try harder and magically hit the monster more or harder, you need gear to do that. This is a numbers game, if you don't have the gear, then your numbers will suck and so will you.

Honestly right now, soloing and duoing, im building up so many Bstseals and KS that Im gonna do the PCC runs a few times. By then I should have enough gil to stop argueing about gear lol. I guess this is the time where i make up an excuse for soloing and duoing. "Its to farm seals".

EDIT:I personally sold my lv 55 acc atk body (poor man's hauby for drgs). I suit up my drg for more solo-duo playstyle now. Ill get back acc and atk gear for pts if i ever decide to pt again. Once i hit 67, im goin on an assault jerkin run to get what i "need" with fellow drg that already have theirs. I dont ignore the gear i need, but i do rule out gear that most people think is godly and expensive. Some gear is worth sacrificing so you can get better gear at a higher lv.

Yeah, because you can bang out 99 Kindred seals in no time flat. It's also a low drop rate for the Black Belt items, and the Turtle KS99 has shitty drops so no one ever wants to do that one. It's still a very small number of black belts being added compared to the number of brown belts.

He might have meant the Brown Belt items, those all drop from KS30's.

Are the PCC bcnm40s the only ones really worth doing? Or is there other ones that can cause a significant increase in gil?

If that's what he meant, then it only further supports my point that brown belt is a far easier than black belt to get. You need 1/3 of the people and the KS to get the items, so brown belts are even more common.

Dbuman, do what baj did and steal a SH from your sky shell. That should get you a brown belt.

Whats the name of the KS30s? Id like to see if i stand in any chance in doing them.

No, I meant the black belt items. Just showing another way to go about it. It's ok though, Baja would rather be gimp than try something hard. To me it's just funny they will kick a MNK from a party because of the lack of brown belt, when by all rights they should have a black belt. But I know, it's too hard so it's not nessesary.

Yay random cheap shot without explaining what happened, the Flamboard is back!
