Sometimes they realize you're "against" them, and their real wants. They may even be crafty enough to lie and trick you into thinking they're perfectly fine again. And then kill themselves when least expected.Artem said:You'd be amazed how willing people are to fix their problems when someone they trust is with them. If that doesn't work, take it to the authorities.
I'm not just saying this to say it either, trust me, nothing sucks more than being told "Why the hell don't you want me to be happy?" when being happy involves suicide for that person, and your goal is to make this person at the very least content with life.
It's a real delicate issue because it's so personal. I wouldn't be amazed if there are some suicidal people, ready to kill themsevles, that can be saved by a 5 minute video on "what you have to live for". At the same time there are people that have to be fed only stuff likek apple sauce, else they would purposefully try to choke themselves because they're so intent on their "goal" and no one will ever talk them out of it.
So the "right thing" varies from person to person, but when it comes to this issue, overkill (911 on someone easily convinced not to by some good supportive talks) is better than getting it wrong (on the drive the pyschiatrist, person opens car door to kill themsevels, while friend/parent is driving and can't do anything to stop them)
