Bloody Vaan... He's not the main character of FFXII, and yet his overly-bishounen abs are there... Why couldn't Ashe enter the fray? She's the real main character of XII and didn't the dev team say they wanted more female members on board?
 
Because he's a popular character in Japan.
Just like Shantotto.
 
I still hate that they added Vaan :( oh well. Needs more FFVI characters. Celes, yes please.

The way I think about it, take out Vaan and Penelo and you have the real main cast, as Ashe, Basch, Balthier and Fran had the most character development over the course of the story.

Fixed.


Vaan and Penelo were there because they finished the game's story and went "Oh shit, we only have 4 playable characters" and then retconned Vaan's revenge story near the beginning but shortly forgot about it.

Except Fran was useless too -_- she was just fan service. So Ashe, Basch, Balthier :P god that game sucked.

Well as was stated earlier, Basch was more dependent for Vaan's retconned revenge storyline. So we could realistically remove him too. So...

Ashe and Balthier. :D
 
What are you people talking about? Fran was pivotal, she could sense mist and stuff. Plus she was Balthier's foil and piloted his pirate ship. If you catch my drift.
 
Laguna confirmed as the third FFVIII rep, also Dissidia 012 uses a world map system instead of the board system from the first, and it seems to be the FFI world map:

Sorry, Laguna is literally the best option they could have chosen for FF8. Now to remove Squall and replace him with Kiros.

And then somewhere down the line, put Ward in. Then release a brand new game starring the three best characters in 8.

And I dunno, Laguna wasn't terrible, but he was kinda a moron :O I think I'd have liked Quistis more too. But Laguna's not bad. Another ranged user whee.

Some more possible news, no screens or videos yet (if true) as it's closed trailer at Jump Festa, but hopefully hear something else in the next few days.

Anyways, possibility of Yuna being another FFX rep, as reports of the bottom of her dress appearing at the end of the closed theater trailer.

Also news that Jecht is switching to Cosmos side, as we knew about from the original Dissidia (and of Terra playing ball for Chaos in the previous war), but that would leave no Chaos characters for FFX, so we'll see.

Empyreal Paradox from FFXI a new stage, as well as the Phantom Train from FFVI.

Take this all with a grain of salt, as it's unconfirmed at the moment.

Actually, it'd be pretty acceptable if Sabin was just in the game.
Too bad with Tifa and Vaan we have, like, three brawlers now.
