Do People Believe Things Into Existance?

MONSTERS DO NOT EXIST. Believe me, I've looked for them and after 36 years I'm still looking...

ps. All the other weird stuff (not monster/alien related) happens.

lol, this quote is good enough for a sig....

lol I speak the truth. I got tired of always fearing the dark by age 16 and I just went after it. I started running deep into El Yunque (Puertorican Big Rainforest) at 1am. I just wanted an answer and didn't find one after 30 minutes waiting there in that darkness between all those trees...

Then I went to old houses, cemetaries and entered dark allies after exiting nightclubs still looking for something... "magic". Nothing!

The only action I got out of that search for the occult was that I got mugged in 1991 and there I learned to fear the living more than the dead...

IDK, when anyone says that they "know for a fact that something doesn't exist" I'm always reminded of the sub-atomic particle. Some scientists never thought that there was anything smaller then the atom. Then other scientists found them and proved the first group wrong. Just because you cant see/prove something now doesnt mean that you might not be able to prove its existance later.

As i read your post i literally thought 'he's lucky he didn't get .... oh well shit now that's not funny at all.'

Made my night.

The New Jersey Devil does exist. He's the mascot of the New Jersey Devils!

For some reason, this thread makes me want to watch Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction.

You can't prove a universal negative. For example, Dave says to me, "Hey Luke, purple elephants with two trunks don't exist!" Well, unless Dave can be everywhere at once, including the great span of the cosmos, he can't prove that somewhere out there in the infinate of space, there aren't any purple elephants with two trunks. The universe is a very big place, so big in fact the human mind can't even grasp how big it really is. This fact alone makes me open to the idea of aliens and the like, paranormal shit.
Oh and mind over matter, yeah, that's a fact.

if i cant see it, it doesnt exist

I can't deny something's existance without proof it doesn't exist (on our planet), but I also can't perpetuate outlandish ideas and rumours without proof it does exist.

One anomaly I have seen with my own eyes, is (I think they're called:) "orbs". A few years ago, some family friends lost their grandfather. German-born gentleman who lived long and hearty. At his funeral, the family took some pictures. Anytime they were near his body, his photo, or a candle, you could see anomalies in the finished photos. They were unnoticable through the camera's viewfinder, but when they got the roll developed you could see white spheres in odd places. They almost looked like soap bubbles, but thicker-walled and a little more reflective while somehow more transparent. I saw about 6 pictures with these things in them, and there have been reported cases of the same elsewhere - so we don't think it's caused by a camera or film development defect.

On the same note. While the family was gone to their grandfather's funeral, someone called them at home and left a message. This someone had the same voice as their grandfather, same thick German accent, you could not hear a phone being picked up or hung up, and the message he left said (in perfect German):

"I go sleep now... I go sleep now."

That was it. The voice was... slow, as if the caller was in great pain (for the record, this gentleman died from lung cancer if I'm not mistaken). It could very well have been spoofed by anyone with the ability to recreate that guy's voice, but the timing was absolutely impeccable.

Heard a story about a woman lifting a car because her kid was trapped under it. (not the entire thing, lol) It was an average housewife, so I wouldnt expect her ot normally be able to.
That was due to adrenaline. Heard this as well, and though I have no links to the real story I would strongly suspect that she slept like a rock immediately after she knew her baby was safe.

Theres also this 'trick' you can do to make yourself 'heavier.' I really dont know how it works, but Ive done it a few times.
I think it's called "drinking". I know after a case of beer I transform from 200lbs of meat into 300lbs of bricks. This guy I used to arm wrestle in BCIT (who consistantly owned me) was unable to move me by himself if I was passed out drooling on the floor, and he's not a pussy by any measurable means.

The universe is a very big place, so big in fact the human mind can't even grasp how big it really is. This fact alone makes me open to the idea of aliens and the like, paranormal shit.
I can't tell you how many times I have tried to comprehend that the universe is unending. It's easy to say out loud and accept as a fact, but imagine you're on... imagine you're on the NCC-1701E going dead straight at warp 10 for a billion years. It's just f-cked... does it loop? Does it break into alternate dimensions after a certain distance, same planets and solar alignment but different species and events? Is the edge of the universe a proverbial mirror, and passing through it magically turns you around?

I just can't imagine what lies beyond what we currently know about. To think that you're standing in a room that has no limits, knowing you'll never be able to reach the walls because they don't exist... it's maddening.

It's a single blade of grass.

And it's purple.

In response to the endless space thing, thats just what I think... Its endless. Whether the universe was created by the "big bang" or not, all celestial objects are going to be moving further out anyway, due to other explosions that have occurred. Likewise, many other things are moving in the opposite direction (why, I have NO idea. This kind of almost makes the Big Bang theory completely false)

Theres been information released about the Milky Way being on a collision course with another galaxy, which couldnt really happen according to the big bang theory, unless somewhere, way way way way out there, there were countless other Big Bangs which sent galaxies in all directions. This could explain why in a few billions years, we will supposedly merge with that other galaxy.

But, I believe once you get past all the stars, planets, galaxies and what-not, you just have... Space, and lots of it. Nothing else.

Also, weve all seen Men In Black... Remember the ending, the aliens playing marbles with galaxies? That also seems possible when givent that size of the universe... Our universe as we know it could just be an atom in someone elses.

Current unifying theory states that... well it's more complicated than i can really explain:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-theory

Basicly the 11th dimension is full of an infinite amount of other universes with varying physics. So like in one alternate universe there's no electrons, one has no nuetrons, etc and so on. Since the ammount of universes is infinite it must be plausable that there are universes where ... there is no you, or a coin landed a different way, and so on.

But that's just the 'current' unifying theory of everything, wait another couple decades and it'll probably wind up being something else entirely.

They teach that concept in most martial arts. In the martial art i take, aikido, its called "Keeping one point" and its basically keeping yourself relaxed. In the same way, dead weight (keeping one point or being pissed drunk) is alot harder to lift then a fighting weight (like a person arm wrestling) because when someone pushes back against you it gives you leverage to push more.

What about the whole "antimatter" thing... Wonder if we somehow get that from our "parallel dimension" where everything is opposite...

Personally, I love thinking things like Nessie and Bigfoot exist.

I'm also convinced my condo is haunted. My brother thinks I'm crazy, because he's never seen the things I've seen, but I think it's because the ghost doesn't like him.
