Who's to say they have to live on water? Just because the many species on earth need water to survive doesn't mean an alien race would have to live on water and food. Assuming theories of wormholes exist to, an alien race could control them and instantaneously warp anywhere.
I love and hate the thought that the universe is massive. I love it because of all the great possibilities and hate it because I will never be able to see all the other planets and their beauty.
If they can live without water, they still need something else for their body. It is impossible for anything to live without any sort of food to turn in to energy, however. It would be impossible for anything to live an extended period of time without energy.
Yes, I've used the very same energy that alien races doesn't neccesarily need water to live. They do, however, need something to take the place of water. The problem is, all planets have the same periodic table, since we're all built from atoms. So the list is somewhat short.
as all living things are organic, they're still limited by the same restrictions we are. That is, need of an energy source, and eventually death. There is no living creature that can live for over 100,000 years, and the odds are even less that there's a living creature that can live for over 100,000 years without an energy source.
Yes, I mentioned wormholes in my post. If they could find a way to manipulate the time and space fabric, then yes, they could probably get to us in a timely manner. It would, however, require a huge ammount of power to do, which would require them to have a gigantic mother ship with its own fission (or fusion, although that's a bit more dangerous) powerplant. Even if they do have this, the odds that they'd find and cose our planet out of all that exists would be less then finding a needle in a hay stack. That's not to say its impossible though, given enough time you will find that needle eventually. Either way, my point is, if it happened during the last years (and there's several hundred reports per year), we'd have more official proof of their existance.
And yes, antimatter is real There's also dark energy. The current theory about it, is that energy is what causes gravity, and dark energy is what causes, well, anti-gravity. During the universe's birth, antimatter and matter were at a balance, together with energy and dark energy, but eventually, dark energy took over, causing the universe to expand at a more rapid rate. Basically, energy pulls the universe inwards, while dark energy drags it outwards, somewhat like an inflated/deflated balloon.
Personally, I believe that way of thinking is way too simplified. I hope it is too, as the existance of wormholes would be pretty much impossible in such a universe.
A normal sphere have 2 dimensions. That's the sphere you see in a threedimensional room. A Hypershpere have three dimensions, and that's the sphere you see in a fourdimentional room. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this. This means that every section you leave, you enter in to one more dimension. We, as humans, are three-dimensional creatures. We have width, height, and depth. We live in, and experience, a four-dimensional room, and the fourth dimension is time. However, the room we live in, exists in a larger room, the universe, which would give the universe five dimensions. I would like to add, though, that all dimensions below the one you currently exist in, can be manipulated, while the ones above you can only be experienced. The fifth dimension would be somewhat weird, as it wouldn't have a real defined shape. Personally, I'd say its gravitation, or some sort of energy. Hence, the entire universe would be a room with gravitation and anti-gravitation. Hence, the fifth dimension would be able to fold itself and whatever is in it.
If you take a surface of water, placing a object in it would cause ripples (sp?) on the suface. In universe, the sun would sink a bit in to the surface of the fifth dimension. It is not just a flat surface though, its a surface within a surface, basically, the entire fifth dimension would be shaped as a giant surface, which drags things towards eachother (gravity). By taking the water surface, and fold it like a paper, by applying enough energy, you could cause the object to sink through the surface, and appear on the surface below it. This phenomenon would be worm holes, and a similar, albeit weaker phenomenon, would be black holes. The black hole would be like a stone which just keeps sinking towards the bottom. But as the entire fifth dimension is gravity, it keeps sinkng without refilling the surface, thus dragging new objects in to it, which also proceeds to sink. So in order to create a wormhole, you need a giant burst of energy, to fold the space and create a door to to through, and if done the wrong way, will cause you to just sink.
However, if you could somehow invent dark energy, you could possibly somehow create a burst of dark energy to expand the universe in front of you and cause a doorway, and perhaps that's all a wormhole is. A sudden creation of dark energy in universe.
The above is mainly my own theory though, so take it with a grain of salt.
Also, on the talk about antimatter, it is calculated that if a human, and antimatter human shakes hands, the explosion caused would be greater then that of an atomic bomb.
Edit: also, while you can argue that a sphere have three dimensions if you see it, and thus can argue that a hypersphere have three dimentions, it do actually have 2. Its because mathematichians see a sphere as only a two-dimentional object, with only an area, but no volume. Which is why you see a sphere as a twodimentional object in a threedimensional room. I realize now that I might have caused some confusions as I mentioned us being threedimensional, while the sphear is twodimentionals. That's because I somewhat changed what I was originally going to write, and instead decided to include depth, instead of only area.
Also felt like adding, I suppose its possible that antimatter is dark energy. Normal matter would logically have normal energy and gravitation. Following the same logic, antimatter would have dark energy and anti-gravitation. So perhaps by creating antimatter, you create dark energy. If you see it like this, combined with the fact that we've already created antimatter in laboratoriums, it might not be too far fetched to say that we might eventually be able to manipulate worm holes, albeit only in universe.
