Dragonball Z (Not a joke)

I remeber back in what was it 02 or 03 that rumors about this started surfacing and I thought "If this comes out then It will be a back alley abortion." Now in 2009 I look at the trailers and realize that this movie will be more like abortion through drinking and smoking to much.

As far as I heard from a friend of mine that the movie will be in the Dutch cinemas starting April 9.

We've decided to gather a group of 10~15 anime fans age 26~35 at a pub, load up on booze and head to the cinema and watch this movie on April 11th.
Report later~

I saw this too a few days ago. Although it was not great and some scenes were pretty cheesy, I think they did the best they could and it's worth watching if you're a fan. Some scenes remind you of poor CGI graphics from those Mortal Kombat movies years ago, but some were really well made to be honest. The background story?... Well I can't say I'm suprised since it's made to attract today's "teenage" audience.

The Dragonball franchise was successful for years based off unlimited effects because of animation and continuous action. It's why you could watch any scene over and over again without getting bored. They could only do so much for a live movie. If you're not too fond if it or unsure, at least check it out on the net.

I say it's worth watching at least once.

On that note I bet you anything this movie will be like the last street fighter movie and make like 3 mil on its opening weekend.

Compared to what a real blockbuster brings up on it's opening weekend, that's close to nothing ;)
But if they get that at least their budget should be mostly paid for.

Anyone see this yet? I'm curious how good/bad it is since I won't be able to see it this weekend.

17% on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's fucking terrible.

Granted, only 24 reviews right now. But that's still fucking terrible.

Higher than I expected to be honest

It was a decent movie if it cost maybe 20mil to make. I can't fathom how that crap cost 100million to make though. It's not even a long movie, they speed through the plot without explaining everything and the special effects are not impressive at all.

Saw this last night.
Eh.. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It was a little short and felt really rushed.
I personally wouldn't go pay $10 to see it again though. =/

A friend saw it on an online streaming site. Said it was awful, but was glad he didn't waste $10 to see it.

I downloaded a screen rip since I wasn't able to go to a theater. It's no where near awful, raping childhood memories or an abomination that must never see the light of day. If it wasn't called dragonball, it'd be a decent action movie. It's a MUCH better adaptation than the Bourne series was, so people need to get over themselves.

Say that to the FRENCH!

Well wow...

They were serious with that Funeral for Goku? DB:E must've really raped their childhood badly.

It's so fucking good this film has bombed so badly. It's an unimaginative piece of bullshit and should never even be released on DVD or Blu Ray. Not in a million years.
Wow, someone needs some valium.

The only people whining like bitches about how awful this movie is and how great it is that the movie sold poorly are retards that didn't even see it but still want to bitch about it like they were physically hurt watching it.

I just wanna say that somebody out there deserves kudos for this movie coming in 7th over opening weekend and making a craptastic 4.7 mil.

If you saw this movie in theaters you would of been better off flushing your 10 dollars down the toilet it would have saved you a good hour something.

I'm still going to watch it...I wasn't an Avid fan of the series but heck it's a movie that'll either make me laugh or keep me occupied for 90 odd minutes where I'd prolly be doing nothing anyway.

I won't say "Oh it's gonna suck hardcore guys, but I'm still watching it" simply coz I haven't seen it, I'm not really a robot when it comes to movies and how other people rate them...I'll watch them and rate them myself because I am my own person.

That probably didn't make sense or anything haha, but even though it got shit reviews I'll see it so I can review it myself instead of listening to what other people who prolly hate alot of movies I may like have said about it.

So repetitive today D=...

It was money well spent for me... compared to the F'ing Chun Li movie...

It's no where near as bad as the morons who haven't seen it but are still nerd raging about it think it is. It's a decent B movie; if they had never called it dragonball, then it would have done much better at the box office and there'd hardly be any complaints.

That's not a good argument, since they did call it Dragonball. They did decide to try to make a film adaptation of the series. They did market it as such. But they didn't do a good job. At worst, it's a shitty attempt at cashing in on the popularity. At best, it's a very loose adaptation. Neither are what people wanted to see, so it's a bad film. Dismissing complaints because "It would've been better if it wasn't called Dragonball" is a null argument. Super Mario Bros. could've been a good movie if it wasn't called Super Mario bros. Street Fighter could've been a good movie if it wasn't called Street Fighter. Alone in the Dark could've been a good movie if it wasn't called Alone in the Dark(unlikely, but you get the point.) But they weren't, and aren't.

When you market something towards fans of a series television or book series, it needs to be faithful. You're already taking a hit on ticket sales from people who already aren't interested in the source material. Just because the names "Goku," or "Mario," or "Guile" are being used doesn't boost a script to gold ink on gold paper status.
