Dynamis Antics

Milgram's experiment as an exercize to understand the subsuming of personal morality to to the orders of an authority may have originally been meant to ascertain reason behind the madness of the holocaust, but it has long since been repeated and expanded. I hardly think you can call Godwin or Ad Hitlerum because someone who didn't read the reference I was making - jumped straight into YOU CANT COMPARE DYNAMIS TO THE HOLOCAUST!!!!1!!one mode.

Yes he can, because Jeska paralleled it directly to the Holocaust. Your intention may not have been to take it to that route, but that's where it was taken in your stead.

Internet Forum rules of engagement are applicable and unforgiving.

I was also quite specific as to which post it was. #30. Where Jeska makes the death camp driver reference.

Exactly. Jeska Godwin'd the thread on his own. It's not your fault, Nicolette.

I love this board. :)

My fault too, I'm on mobile so didn't check the post#.

Ok, for the sake of reasoned argument, let's define the sides to this argument.

Proschedulists: In favor of the dynamis scheduling as run through QCDN.
Antischedulists: Aware of system but uses it to choose times and areas to Jack by arriving early.
Nonschedulists: Aware of schedule but ignores it, takes zone if group waiting isn't ready when
they are... Or enters to prevent a scheduled entrance.
Ignorant: don't know of the schedule.

Beneath these kind of ''policy" decisions we get personality modifiers.
Ignorant + informed evolves into Pro Anti and Non camps organically

And of course
if we allow for milgram's style subordinancy, only the leaders define what camp your dynamis group falls into.

Pro will always see anti as douchebags, anti will always
see pro as killjoys, non will be influenced or farmed by the factions and ignorant will organically (d)evolve

Good stuff. Divinius, I'm posting names because I think it's time to. You can't blacklist a linkshell, you blacklist individual players. People don't often wear their Dynamis pearls to other things, like exp parties. As far as not knowing about the scheduling system, it's been two months. If they say they haven't figured it out by now, they're lying. Which, by the way, isn't to say that we (my shell, at least) haven't tried. All of the people I've listed so far have been in shells that basically responded with "fuck off" when we tried to explain the scheduling system.

Again, I know it's not against the rules to jack a Dynamis zone; we've been told that countless times by GM's, let alone other players. But it's also not against the rules to blist the people who do it.

Simply being in a shell with someone who responded with "fuck off", and being the actual person that responded with "fuck off" (or seeing the conversation and agreeing), are two different things. Are you saying that every name you listed was someone who specifically verbally mocked the system? Or did they just happen to be wearing the same pearl?

I know that doesn't make a difference to many people on this board, but it does to me, and should to anyone that doesn't like blacklisting essentially innocent people.

Also, I still say that assuming everyone on the server knows of this message-board is incredibly presumptuous.

i saw your name and i starting laughing already before i saw this because I knew you'd say something funny , this only proves my point kudos to you myrrh

The phrase here, and it's one that I've used before to describe similar situations, is "tacit approval".

If you're in the shell, and you are aware of the scheduling system, and you choose to be part of the group that refuses to comply with the wishes of the majority (ie, the shells that work out their schedules in advance), whether or not you're vocal on the subject, you hold part of the responsibility for the behavior.

How can the leader be culpable of wrongdoing and the people going along with it not be culpable as well? They do also have to trade a glass and enter the Dynamis.

who's stealing my pic D:

Hmm nice diagram.

Dynamis San d'Oria jacked this evening. Apparently it's not just xarca :/

Blaackmage (yes, 2 a's at the beginning), Chayaa, Gattzu, Gonavan, Karaia, Kored, Lostcauseoni, Megaboss, Naverous, Nedjobean, Nikui, Spectezey, Tsunderecat, Vamprey

I was wondering when EternalBond was going to show up. This was my first Dynamis shell, but I left over too much drama. They usually pick a zone the day of or an hour or so before they go. I think last weekend, they tried to get Glacier from someone but was unable to. They are well aware of the scheduling system here as I know of as a few members who do Limbus runs with them are in CigaretteSmugglers (my Dyna shell).

However, it is obvious they do not wish to follow it.

If you'd taken the time to read the rest of my posts, you'd already understand exactly why I feel that the leaders should be held responsible and not necessarily every member.

Put simply, not every member of the shell is always aware of what the leaders are doing. I feel that blacklisting people that just so happen to be in the same as others who are doing inappropriate things is incredibly unfair.

Lovely diagram. Care to explain how it applies in this topic?

Note bolded part. Unless there is proof that every person who's name was listed was actively aware of the system and aware of their shell's refusal to use it, you are potentially condemning innocent people.

Sucks to be them. Now, in theory, they will be made aware of their shell's activities, in the incredibly unlikely event that they haven't been educated on this topic prior to this.

Again with the presumptuous assumptions that every person on the server is intimately aware of this board and its dynamis scheduling system.

OK, fine. I concede defeat. If you want to blacklist potentially good people based on the color of the pearl above their head, so be it. Who am I to stop you. I'll just be over here continuing to adhere to the "innocent until proven guilty" mentality.

Again with the naive assumption that every person in a shell that habitually zone-jacks is utterly ignorant of this board and its Dynamis scheduling system.

OK, fine. I concede defeat. If you want to associate with potential douchebags rather than take the simple step of making them aware of their douchebaggery, so be it. Who am I to stop you. I'll just be over here on Sylph where we don't have a scheduling system.
