I posted this on BG, but didn't get a lot of responses... so I figured I'd try here.

About how many people would be needed for Dynamis Lord? As it is right now, if everythign to as planned and we don't spend any time farming, we can get to Dynamis Lord and kill Ying/Yang with about 1 hour 20 min left on the clock.

Now, with the current attendance numbers, we have roughly...

3 THF's
2 NIN's
2 SMN
3 WHMes
3 PLD's
3 RDM (with DRK sub)
3 BLMes
2 DRK
1 WAR
2 MNK
2 DRG
3 BRD

Now, 2 of the THF's can switch to BLM, but we don't really use BLMes for farming, so we usually have them go THF. 1 of the THF's can switch to WAR or DRK, 1 of the DRG's can switch to 70 BLM, 1 SMN can switch to WAR, 1 BRD can switch to RDM. So totally, with job changes, we'd have this...

2 NIN
1 SMN
3 WHM
3 PLD
4 RDM (with DRK sub)
4 BLM
2 DRK
2 WAR
2 MNK
1 DRG
2 BRD

Would it be possible to beat Dynamis Lord with this? We're making an attempt on December 14th (and god I hope that's not maintaince day...).

Now, the basic strateg y I was thinking was to have 1 RDM/DRK start with Chainspell Stun, while the melees use 300% TP moves and 1 PLD do invincible to hold hate. Once melees have used their WS's, they pop a TP wing and do another one. After this they use their 2-hours. Originally I was thinking of having the MNK's hundred fist + souleater, but since we only have 3 WHMes, it might be hard to keep them alive for it... During this, the BLMes spend all of their MP, and then use Manafont to keep nuking. And after 45 sec, another RDM starts Chainspell Stun. This gives us roughly 3 min to kill Dynamis Lord.

Any suggestions? I know he uses horrible TP moves, so we'll naturally need quite a lot of luck. But I'd still like to see how well we'd do.

Your strat sounds alot like ours, except we use more RDM/DRKs and double up on the chain stuns, more BLMs, more melee, more WHM, and even then a large part of the fight is shear luck.

Basically: No. We wouldn't have the man-power to take DL down anywhere close to before he summons Ying/Yang and you'd essentially be raped :(

Ying/Yang resummon can be avoided though. If a THF aggroes them and runs them away from camp and die before they reach Dynamis Lord, they'll go back to the spawn point without sharing hate with Dynamis Lord. So Ying/Yang isn't a problem really. The problem is doing enough damage to kill DL before he rapes us xD

The problem with having only 1 RDM/DRK Chainspell at a time is that DL usually manages to get an Oblivion Smash in between the stuns so it's safest to have 2 RDM/DRK go at once. You can try to do 1 stun gun at a time but it's extremely risky, and having 2 stun guns at once requires more damage for the shorter chainspell time. Umai got Dynamis Lord to roughly 10% with somewhere around 30-35 people if I remember correctly and I think we had 2 double stun guns but an issue with the duration of chainspell got us in the end. All in all, I'd say you need a few more members for a better chance to take him down.

The problem with having 2 stun guns is that they tend to stun at the same time, meaning one stun when he's already stunned, thus getting "no effect". While yes, 2 is probably safer in order to decrease resist rates, I don't see how it'd be possible for us to bring Dynamis Lord down in less then 2 min with 26 people =/

I'd recommend at least 36 (read: competent) people. Doubling up on Chainstuns is usually done because he does resist Stun, and he can resist it quite a bit. You might be able to win with that setup, but you'd hafto go about it nearly flawlessly and you'd hafto make sure everyone's being serious about wanting to win...stuff like RR hairpins, and, well, FOOD...it's apalling how often I hear from shells how food/RR pins are somehow scarce.

TP wings etc. won't be a problem as they won't have to pay for it.

Sweet we going after the Lord on the 14th Captain Uzor Stun Gun ready!

we had less than that im sure..

The limiter is your damage, by far, with under 40 people. I know for a fact that 26 of the best parsers and performers in the server is no match for 36 general players. You simply can't parse better than two average dragoons. DL fight is embarassingly tough to fight like you aim to fight for a while. Darn near every attack of his affects your entire team. The fight is terribly imbalanced.

Your shell can't afford to double-stun right now with the lack of DoT. You will probably just have to risk getting hit with a debilitataga, nukaga, or the smash. Those things are only likelihoods. You running out of stuns when his life is at 40% is almost a guarantee if you double-up.

Get thieves to evade down him and the dragoons to spirit surge him right before the weaponskills go off. I really don't know what to tell mages. They're probably the most likely reason for mid-fight failure when the stunning starts to get shaky and meleers get slowed or blinded.

You can rip anything apart in dyn with 26 people except the DL. It shouldn't be a berserk fight, the DL should be killable with a force capable of getting to him, but right now that's the only strategy that works.

Yeah, I know our greatest weakness atm is killing him before he kills us, but Dynamis Lord is mainly about luck either way. And the worst thing that can happen is that he kills us, and that's not a very bad outcome either way since we'd have most likely learned something :p Not like people haven't died to DL before ^^

Also, don't underestimate what going to the DL and repetitively losing does to a shell. DL kills dyn shells in more ways than one. Everyone gets caught up in thinking DL is the end of it. If you succeed, you lose people. If you can't beat it, you lose people. One time is fun. Routine wins or routine fails kill immature shells, I'm sure you're aware of the history of that.

I wouldn't make it a habit of beating your head against a wall with 26 people, but certainly it can't hurt to go up there once and go all-out for fun.

Naw, it's not something we're going to do every Xarcabard run. My members have asked me over and over again when we're foing to attempr DL, that's why we decided we might aswell try it next Xarcabard run.

Many ask because they want to be done with it and move on. It's the nature of the demographics that you have to fight against, to concentrate players who aren't there for the win and 5/5.

26 people is a good end-stage dyn shell these days. However, if you want your shell to look like the stereotypical endgame performer image, you have to add 15 members. I wouldn't personally bother with DL until people stop asking to make sure the people there for the wrong reasons have left to leech of someone else. But that's tough to do.

Thing is, people aren't asking because they want the win so they can stop coming, they're asking because they want to try Dynamis Lord, and are excited about trying something new that we haven't tried before. I do believe my members are skilled enough to take Dynamis Lord down, reason we haven't tried it yet is because I've always felt we don't have enough members to kill him, and I don't want them to lose time and exp uneccesarily. However, at the same time I feel that trying something new would be a possitive experience for them, wheither (sp?) we win or not.

GTC>all we will kill DL don't hesitae.

What linkshells "move on" from killing dynamis lord, what is there to "move on" to? If anything, they can start farming him like the rest of dynamis. I just don't see how beating DL would cause a shell to end, unless it's full of crappy people to begin with.

Well, shells can break after killing Dynamis Lord because thye feel the way Dynamis Lord drops are handled were wrong.

Ok, I guess I can see that, but I'd imagine that would have been set and discussed long before the actual fight; just so things like that wouldn't happen.

There's dreamlands too. And with the shell already having fewer than 36 members they wouldn't run into the "sorry but you can't come, we're full" problem. So there is always more that particular shell can do.
