So, I am leveling my newly aquired BST job yesterday. Started in Zherum Mines then move outside at level 5 to level on the hill in South Gustaberg. Things are going ok, but I notice there are almost no sheeps or gobs around, which is fine for now cause I am aiming at wasps and stone eater.

Then I get to level 6 and go allright, let's try some sheeps. Well, not a single one in sight.... then I see this asshole, high level (was anon, but still could tell with his hp not goign down at all) RDM..... Eddiemush! He is training everything he sees, sheeps, gobs, wasps and if he could, worms! He is making it impossible for all the low level there to gain any exp. So I say to myself screw him and I grab ONE of the 5-6 gobs he had on him and fight it. Of course, I get poked by him and think that this is the end of it.... wrong!

About 1 hour after that, I was healing after fighting a gob when I see this guy coming back towards me with 3 gobs... and warps leaving the gobs next to me, while I am at 70 hp....

Well fuckface, I did not die!!! Thank god I am an alchemist and was leveling BST. I immediatly get up and use an X-potion (always carry one), then I grab a sheep that just spawned and send it on one of the gob. And I start running like hell with the other two gobs on my ass. As soon as I see my blue sheep disappear, I charm the first thing I see, a wasp, and send it on one of the two remaining gobs to buy some time. And I finally zoned the last gob with 17 hp left.

So Eddiemush, guess you'll have to try again! Oh, and another low level that was healing next to me did not have the same luck and died from the gob that ws fighting the sheep, thanks to you!

Just go find another place to farm or go to hell!

....

Boy that felt good!

wow... you used X-Potion to save yourself at Lv6??

I would have just died and saved it

Cecilx if you had taken the time to read and comprehend the entire thread you would see I was being somewhat sarcastic as my next few posts were a discussion with another about that being used to disprove someones logic.

Really though I don't see the problem even if I did do that (not that I have gone farming in the last 5 months), you wrong me by taking mobs I want to fight, so I let you have all of them. In many cases me warping wouldn't even matter if they hadn't taken something from the train (eg: non aggro but linking type mob or they are too high for aggro but mob still links.) No one likes a voke puller stealing mobs from a ranged puller while exping and I don't see this as any different. You can find other mobs without taking the ones I already grabbed, you are taking the ones in the train solely to annoy the farmer, don't try to deny that. Don't bother the farmer and the farmer doesn't bother you.
Well obviously you're a loser. Thanks for letting me know how you play, I hope I see you leveling a low level job so I can MPK ya.
And thanks for stooping lower than anyone in this thread. At least the rdm in question had some motive, while you are just doing it to be a loser. No worries though, people like you have made me sick of this game and sick of helping people, so I hardly even play anymore. Perhaps people aren't naturally mean, maybe you force them to be that way with your actions. I'm one of the nicest people you would have meet in game, too bad you didn't take the time to get to know me before judging.

Dude do you smoke crack? You just said you will warp out purposely to mpk someone if they take one of the many mobs you have trained. If a low level is exp'ing and your taking every mob in the area you're going to MPK him because he took one of the mobs off you? That's stealing a mob? You talk about logic yet you lack any, there is no logic in that nor is there any logic in saying its ok to MPK because you can warp. Squre Enix doesn't think so, I don't think so, and anyone who can really grasps logic does not think so. No one is talking about stealing a mob by voking while someone is pulling by ranged, where did you get that from? Stay with the topic at hand. You're not one of the nicest people, you just admitted you will MPK a low level because he took one of the mobs in your train while trying to exp, I don't need to get to know you because you basically summed up your personality in that single sentence I quoted in my above post.

Talk about the lowest of lows, I did not stoop any lower then yourself nor do I consider MPK'ing a self admited griefing MPKer wrong. If theres one thing that is beyond lame it's MPK'ing, especially MPK'ing a low level because you're a greedy, self centered, egotistical idiot.

ROFL, would you please stop and read the posts by me and Tyrath after that comment before you make yourself look anymore foolish. I have never done that in game and probably never will since I don't farm, its just my thoughts on the matter and was made up sarcastically simply for arguments sake.
No one is talking about stealing a mob by voking while someone is pulling by ranged, where did you get that from?
It is called a parallel example which requires some thought form the reader. In this case the parallel is people in general don't like it when an exp party steals mobs from other exp parties by voking a mob from a ranged puller while he is preparing to attack the target (eg: firing animation going off). People don't like that, but when you relate it to someone stealing mobs from someone elses train it is suddenly ok. I made the parallel in hopes of revealing a hypocrisy.
Talk about the lowest of lows, I did not stoop any lower then yourself nor do I consider MPK'ing a self admited griefing MPKer wrong.
ROFL, that is such absolute hypocrisy I'm loving it. It is ok for someone to wrong someone by stealing their mobs from a train, but its wrong to mpk them in return (after several requests for them to stop hopefully). However by your logic if I wrong someone you can wrong me and mpk me because you are now judge, jury, and executioner? What pure doublespeak. 2 wrong don't make a right when someone else is doing the 2nd wrong, but when you are the one dishing out the justice it is right?! Thanks for giving me a laugh before I get some sleep.
Dude do you smoke crack?
No, but your avatar says otherwise about yourself.

Oy...there may be no written rule by SE but I believe that if someone is XPing off mobs that you're training they have more of a right to the mob. Yes I know that it's not in the rules but neither is saying thankyou to a WHM after raising you...do I do it anyway? Yes! Manners people!

For some reason, train pull farming seems common these days an pretty much everywhere. I see alot of blm doing this. I saw a train pull in konchtat (well no big surprise here), Qufim giants (now now this is getting a bit far), Bedeaeux quadavs, possibly alot more.

The fact that the rdm came infront of him and warped while you were healing clearly states his intention. Ironic, that alot of people train pulling are mage class, specially rdm and blm. Train pulling just reduces your time to find another target. Chain killign all at once will not increase in droprate one way or the other, if people haven't figured out. I did before as a rdm and it was no different from killing one by one than killing all at once. Also chances are you will lose claim for the unclaimed mob so why get more stressed out by doing it? is beyond me.

.... yeah, that was really the whole point of the thread.... should I have used X-potions?

Level 79 alchemist, I have about 20 of them since I made those to level. I am selling them as well, but why not use them also?

Wow, I leave for the evening and find out that this thread really expented! NICE!!! :)

Just want to point out some stuff that I saw reading the newly added posts, mainly about Rhones.

Rones said:
It use to allow you to keep the claim on them, but for some stupid reason they changed it. Anytime someone grabs one from my train I warp/escape out on them (and using your logic, if it wasn't allowed they wouldn't let me warp while being attacked). If they want one so bad, they can have all of them.

This reminds me of people whining when I train farmed in konschant highlands.

Rones said:

You see, problem is the farmer DID bother me and about 5-6 other people leveling there with him grabbing everything in sight. And as far as grabbing another mob... could not find any... farmer in the area... remember?

Rones, I red again the serie of posts you made in this thread. Basicaly, you are saying that Tyrath's, Cecilx and my "logic" is flawed because WE can do something and that others can't.... the thing is not all discussions are about logic, sometime it's just about common sense.

There is a difference between stealing one mob from a train and atempting to kill a player's character with a gob train. Maybe I should'nt have grabbed that gob, agreed. But at the time I was frustrated because my leveling was going extremely slow due to the lack of mobs around. As Majorhavoc pointed out, leveling BST is painfull cause you basiclally need 2 mobs per fight. I still believe that this act did not justify the train of Gob on me and the other player that died because of it.

And what you are saying by trying to show use the flawness in our is that yours is flawless, or at least better: What's good for the goose is good for the geese (or some expression like that, Quebec City here, speaks french! :) I mean that your logic says if you are to allow one wrong to be made, allow one wrong to be made to you. True, but again, logic is'nt everything, some time you actually need to look at the wrongs...

Because if not, by your logic, someone who steals a pack of gums should get 10 years in jail, just like the one who stole 5 millions from a bank or something.

So anyway, I moved me leveling point now... So it's all good! hehehe

Actually rones, if you would go back to your first response to me. You clearly say that you DO infact warp out anytime someone steals a mob from you. Whether you do in reality or not, I dont know. But you did say that.

Rones said:

Or maybe I am just seeing things there.

ROFL, that is such absolute hypocrisy I'm loving it. It is ok for someone to wrong someone by stealing their mobs from a train, but its wrong to mpk them in return

And thats where your logic falls apart Rones. No one is wronging you by taking a mob from your train. You do not own any mob thats running after you unless it shows up claimed by you. That is why SE made it so only one mob is claimed. And yes SE allows you to warp out and leave a train on someone, but they also say its wrong to do that and they can punish you for it. So I dont see what your not getting here...

Back when I tried aoe farming last Janurary for all 30 mins I didn't even have warp or escape avaialable. I quickly realized farming is a waste of time in any form and did other things to earn money.
No one is wronging you by taking a mob from your train. You do not own any mob thats running after you unless it shows up claimed by you. That is why SE made it so only one mob is claimed
So lets try your logic in another situation to see if it holds. HNM fights, people lose claim for a split second, competing alliance throws in a voke for a split second, claim switches and the mob continues to beat upon the origonal alliance that can't even fight back now and this is all fine according to your logic since they origonal alliance didn't have claim. I did have this happen to me back when I was aoe farming since I was in the middle of casting aoes to kill the train and hate stayed on me even after someone cast dia on one of the mobs in my train. Hate then stayed on me until I died on the way to the zone because I couldn't attack the last mob.
You do not own any mob thats running after you unless it shows up claimed by you.
And by that same train of thought, the low lvl exping on the stuff does not own the mobs and has no better claim to it than the farmer.
And yes SE allows you to warp out and leave a train on someone, but they also say its wrong to do that and they can punish you for it.
Regardless of what you say, SE doesn't care about MPK. I've been mpked twice now by people I was kind enough to spend time to raise and SE gm's never responded. If you have spent much time in boyada tree you have also likely been mpked by a bst at some time or some angry random person (which I even made a thread about a while back). SE doesn't care about those.
Maybe I should'nt have grabbed that gob, agreed
That is the core of this entire problem. In the back of your mind you know you shouldn't and are doing it simply to annoy the farmer. You can always find other mobs to kill in the newb zones with at most 15-20 seconds of running. Being a bst doesn't matter either, you don't need 2 mobs at that lvl to fight either. My brd could solo even and my whm did dc at those lvls, so surely your bst isn't weaker than them.

Again. You keep applying the "logic" to different things that are completely different. One logic will never hold true to everything.

And by that same train of thought, the low lvl exping on the stuff does not own the mobs and has no better claim to it than the farmer.

Are you that dumb? What does it take to penetrate that think skull og yours? Of course they dont own the mobs, but when they voke one and take it for their own. Then yes, its theirs :p

Yeah, I am sure I got a warning from a GM for MPKing someone by mistake. Next time he said he would suspend me XD

This is not going anywhere because Rones you think you have ultimate knowledge. The core of the problem is not that in the back of my mind I know I should not have grabbed that gob. The problem here is that there was a much worst consequence to a minor gesture.

You think because I grabbed the gob he was entitled to try and kill me. I think these are two different things. And because we have those two different opinions, this will go on and on and on and on!

So thank you for your attempt to teach me and the others how to view the game throught your logics... but I'll pass.

I still think Eddiemush is a retard and I still think him trying to kill me and ending up killing someone else was an absolute stupid gesture to make!

End of it!

You keep applying the "logic" to different things that are completely different. One logic will never hold true to everything.
That is the very idea behind logic. You decide on a path of reasoning and then consider it in real examples to see if the logic is sound. What good is abstract thought if it is never applied?
Of course they dont own the mobs, but when they voke one and take it for their own. Then yes, its theirs :p
Again that line of reasoning doesn't hold sound when applied to my HNM example. Its a very similiar situation, so if your reasoning were sound, it should work for both.
You think because I grabbed the gob he was entitled to try and kill me
Probably would have been better if he had asked you to not do that first and then if you continued to steal from his train, I would say you got what you deserved.
Yeah, I am sure I got a warning from a GM for MPKing someone by mistake. Next time he said he would suspend me XD
That just furthers my point that gm's are too inconsistent on the matter and are really not a factor in the matter.

There are times when MPKing is justified, but on a low level trying to gain exp off a farming train, no way. Unless you have an AE attack that can kill them all at once, for the first part, there's no advantage to training. A RDM doesn't have this really except through a BLM subjob. So for the most part, you are trying to use a train to "claim" a monster, as in letting all the players to know they're yours not mine.
Meaning, I'm "claiming" them all first and then I'll kill them after. All you're doing is hoarding because the "claim" part is coming before the killing part. And making the assumption no one else will attack your monsters.
But as far as I'm concerned... you get 1 mob, that's all you're allowed to claim. If you want to "claim" 10 more in a train, you are basically saying you had time to get their aggro before I did without wanting to wait to kill to kill the first one before justifying it is yours. Now you're a high lvl, you can kill them relatively quickly. A low lvl takes time and has to rest afterwards. Think about this for a second. As a high level, who can kill the mob is a few seconds, you want to train them all so you can grab em before the low lvls take some for minute long fights.
For this reason, if I am lvling, or even farming off these mobs, I will have no hesitation to steal of a train. It's not your mob until you kill your first one. End of story. If you want to MPK for it, you're just some idiot MPK, don't romanticize it, don't justify it, just accept you're an asshole.

Why would anyone train farm if they couldn't kill it all at once with aoe spells or attacks? (Earth crusher aoe staff ws works great for this btw) Even a weak spell like stonega or banishga works wonder on groups of low lvl mobs.
I will have no hesitation to steal of a train.
don't justify it, just accept you're an asshole.
That is what it sounds like you saying. As long as you are not the one losing the mob, its fine. You even admit unconsciously that it is wrong by using the word 'steal'.

Rones said:
You don't mpk a whole party because you are mad at one person (shouldn't even mpk that one person).

I guess you mean "You should'nt even mpk that one person when it's me" ...

In your situation, the PLD obviously did something to get that other person mad and he answered with an attempt to MPK him and your party at the same time. Then you go and say that no matter what the PLD did, he still should not have tried to mpk him. Sound familliar?

You keep telling us that this same logic is wrong, that because I did something that made Eddiemush mad, he was more then entitled to mpk me.... is it something I said mommy?

Again, talk about hypocrisy! Please, stop pretending you don't train farm or that you only did it for 30 minutes 10 months ago! I have no problem what so ever if you do actually, as long as it's done in an area that is not known as a leveling area. And if you do go in such area, expect people to steal from your trains!

One last thing, when you quote someone, please show the name of the person you are quoting! You are taking lots of quotes from different person and making it seems like it's all coming from the same place. It's confusing for the non-participant readers and it's an unethical way to answer to someone and trying to illustrate your point!

Sorry about the last post, the last quotes should have ended at ... argument sakes.

I forgot to close to quote and the rest is all me, Veresko, talking!

Trying to relate your situation to the one I experienced is a pretty poor comparison. In mine, the two had a verbal disagreement a few days ago over something (I didn't care about the specifics), so now the pld tries to mpk the guy everytime he sees him. That I don't see as a justifaction for mpk.

As for the train farming, I really don't even see it as mpk. They clearly want your mobs by grabbing them (since you say its not stealing) from your train, so why not be kind and warp out so they can have all of them? If they hadn't grabbed one from your train, they wouldn't have any problems either since the time for warp gives a single person more than enough time to move away. Their problem could be avoided entirely by simply not taking from the train.

As for accusing me of hypocrisy I made that first and only statement as example which I later clarrified that I have never actually done. It is what I would do if I train farmed (which is a big waste of time along with all farming). Check my sig and you will see my 40+ brd which is where you make the real money.

Each bored setup is a little different so I apologize for not taking the time to look up how that is done here. The people who wrote the quote can usually tell it was them and non-participants don't usually care who wrote it (or if they do care they are reading close enough and recognize who it was). I'm also not citing quotes from many pages back like you, most just requires a bit of scrolling to spot at worst.

That is extremely spacious reasoning. I don't know where you're setting this example, but in certain places, like the hills in both Gustaberg areas, or any dungeon, the mobs are all set up in a corridor environment. So if a train farm is passing by, there are *NO* mobs left where it came from, and *NO* mobs will be left where it's going. People will steal one mob for the train because there AIN'T ANY LEFT!

And you know fully well that Warping *WILL* kill the lowbie, so don't say that it's not MPKing. The person actually considers that the train farmer already has a lot of mobs he can kill for lots of drops, so what's one less on 20 monsters? It's not like a train farmer gets ownership of a whole zone he sweeps just because he is high enough a level for those monsters to do little to no damage to him. I do fully understand the usefulness of maxing out the kills/MP (or TP) count, but in my opinion, if taking a single monster from a train is stealing, sweeping a zone out of monsters and claiming them to be off limits is stealing as well.

There is a lot more ethics surrounding this topic, so it's entirely free to be interpretated. Myself, I will kill Crawlers on my way to Giddeus from Windurst when I go harvesting over there. And I will kill the bees I come across when I'm doing my harvest route. But if I see someone xping off the bees in the starting area of Giddeus, I'll leave the mobs to them out of respect (<- key word here) for them.

But saying that "giving lowbies what they want" by leaving a train full of aggro monsters onto them, AND letting them strand in the area to kill OTHER lowbies unfortunate to come across them isn't MPKing is a joke. Slap them, tell them to buzz off, show any disrespect you want, but don't ever innocent yourself from unleashing monsters onto others.
