Think one of the hardest parts is being prepared for every situation lol. We weren't ready for the sleepga chances, I tried my best to run out of range and curaga my pt after they start casting but with 15 around it wasn't doable. Poison pots would of really helped us out alot. According to some of our members while we were half wiped, kiting works very well with the elementals, as 1 nin was able to kite about half of them for a good while, we just couldn't deal with leftovers as most our mages were dead at that point so sleepga ran rampant.
We ran with 20 people, it seems doable with about as many as we went, just needed a clearer strategy. We saw the bird too, but were wiped and couldn't fight it, last 5mins we tried to zerg boss, but elementals eventually got to us again.
The boss we tried to Zerg above was the buffalo type. I unloaded my full MP pool, used Manafont, was doing 650-700ish/TierIVnuke and up to 800 with AMII (total damage estimate 7,000+ in 2 minutes), never took hate (this was really whacko, it seemed the boss was following someone who had hate with the elementals and wasnt touching me), and we only got it to 96%. After the elementals killed whoever and I finally did get hate, I was able to kite for a long time as a normal speed blm. The buffalo NM was only hitting for about 50-60 damage and was relatively easy to run from [Note: I wear Sorcerer's earring when I am running away from anything, so damage could have been 90-100 to a non prepared blm, I also had forgot my earth staff which goes in my Run away macro, I could have taken another 20% less there
Pretty much this boss is easily kiteable... but we dropped 50kdmg on this thing and only got it down 4% so obviously defeating the elementals was a must in order to weaken his HP pool. He did not Regen either
Other groups have reported defeating their bosses without defeating the mobs and getting the armory crate. All I can say is I wanna see pictures, I believe its possible, but not for some average group.
