Ok, got this game, outta the sewers and going to deliver some amulet or w/e. I played this shit for like 2hours. Does this game get interesting at any time? I am getting rather bored just running around killing rats and shit.

It's interesting for a while with all the freedom and the sheer amount of stuff you can do, but the complete lack of drive to actually finish the missions bored me after a few weeks.

I really don't seem to have the desire to really do anything. If i want to run around doing quests and shit, ill play WoW or FFXI.

Well, thats the kind of RPG it is. It isn't anything like the off-line Final Fantasy games.

If you just do the story, you miss out on some fun quests. Like the Dark Brotherhood(A guild of Assassins) has a mission where you pose as a participant at a house party, and you have to kill off the others there. When you get down to two people, you can either finish them off one by one, or cause one of them to go insane from suspecting the other person is the murderer, then they'll fight it out. When the last persons standing, they think they're safe, having done in the muderer. Thats when you shiv them in the back. Or never touch any of the NPCs, replacing all the food with Poisoned Apples, and let time be the executioner.

Dark Brotherhood is one quest series I would never pass up. No matter how many times you play through. You get the best horse in the game about half-way through*. And you get NPCs you can take along with you. You can also get NPCs to follow you from completing all the Mage's Guild quests. But that takes a considerable amount of time. Mage's Guild quests are awfully long.

Sadly, you don't get any NPC helpers from the Fighter's Guild completion. But you get access to a chest that fills up with money, armor and weapons every month. No NPCs from the Thieve's guild either, but you get a fun little item - The Gray Cowl of Nocturne. Which basically gives you an alternate personality while wearring it, allowing you to commit any crime. Murder, Thievery, whatever. And all the crimes stick with the alternate persona, allowing your character to get off free when you take off the cowl.

*Not only is Shadowmere incredibly fast, she's flagged as a key NPC. So she cannot die. She only gets knocked unconcious for about a minute.

Levels are based off your Main Skills level, which increase as they get used. If you want to level up fast, set your mainskills to things like Acrobatics, Aerobics, and Speechcraft. Then run, jump, swim, and fall everywhere while playing the disposition minigame with NPCs.

It's a bad idea though, since the enemies scale up. So you'll face harder enemies at relatively early parts of the game. Ofcourse, you'll get better weapons and armor earlier too, but your skills will be so low, that the difference between daedric/glass and leather/iron will be nonexistant.

How the fuck can I get Shadowmere back? After I got her I dicked around for a while, and anytime I fast-travelled to a city i'd get the message that shes stabled in the stables outside of town.. But I dont get that message anymore, and have no idea where the god damn horse I worked so hard to get is. Think I should try back at that dudes hideout?

By the by, what type of character do you guys have?

The black horses from... eh I can't remember where, but they trounce Shadowmere in speed. That's the one thing I didn't like about her, but having an undead horse is enough points in and of itself.

I had the same problem. After trying to climb that wtfmountain to find the elusive whateveritwascalled beast, I never saw Shadowmere again.

No. Shadowmere is faster than the Cheyindhal black horses, or any buyable ones. The only thing to come close is the Unicorn, and the Unicorn will attack anything that has a weapon out, including you.

If you think you've lost Shadowmere (ie, not outside the cities in the stables), Shadowmere will appear where you first get her. So yes, at the dude's hideout.

Yeah this game gets a 9 and a half/10 in my book. Only problem I have with it is the armor/weapons system, but that is easily overlooked by the sheer awesomeness of this game.

You can become a vampire in this game as well, which opens up a whole new guild (vampire guild). How much cooler can you get?

i loved the game, tho it can get insanley easy once u get some high level skills or really good ranged skills and arrows.
my friend has a char that kills anything in one bow shot, my char did the same and has been retired until shivering isles...tho im not too happy with the achievements for isles...

Shadowmere defaults back to Lachance's fortress, where you meet him for the Cleansing mission. She'll be standing by the front door.

There is no Vampire Guild in Oblivion. Vampires are even hostile to you as a Vampire. There is a Vampire Hunter guild, the Order of the Virtuous Blood. Which can net you a hell of a lot of gold over time, since they pay you a pretty good amount for every Vampire Dust you bring to them.

Besides that, the only quest that you actually have to be a Vampire to perform is finding a cure, which ends with 1000 gold and the ability to have an NPC make potions to cure full vampirism whenever you need them.

The benefits of being a vampire are pretty badass though, sans the burning daylight and incredible weakness to fire magic. Daylight is easily avoidable with the quick travel and wait systems, though.

I had alot of fun with this game for about a month...but then it kinda got old. I had fun with the multiple guilds, but the main story really bored me. And it's way to easy to lvl if you pick the right main stats.

*psst, did you know if you kill shadowmere you can put your gear inside him like a storage bank, and then he comes back to life. And when you need the gear back you just kill him again and take it.

Buying a house is easier, since Shadowmere likes to wander around occasionally, mostly during trips to Oblivion. With the gold you get from the Dead Drops, you can quickly afford the shack in the Imperial Waterfront.

Is Shadowmere levelled or something? I had a (I believe) Cheydinhal black horse, got Shadowmere, and immediately noticed a minor decrease in running speed.

Shadowmere is the same speed as any other black horse, but has more health(and doesn't die,) and higher attack. Only horse stronger than her is the Unicorn. But it's slower and has significantly less health, although it has normal weapons immunity, 50% magic resistance + 20% magic reflection, and is immune to poison and paralyze.

I killed that stupid Unicorn for some quest.. though I cant for the life of me remember which one right now..

Ah ok, I must have gotten the Unicorn mixed up with Shadowmere on the speed issue. Now I want to get back into this game... the nudie patch is freakin great!

I can't remember the quest either but there was one that required a Unicorn Horn for somethingorrather. One of the shrines if I remember correctly.
