So let me get this straight.. The mods find cat pictures that semi derail stuff while making people laugh as as problem worth possible banning over posts that COMPLETELY derail topics and get people annoyinged/angry or just plain have no worth vs somethign that's at least funny?

derailing in general is a huge problem we are discussing, i was just asking what the motive was because it happens all the time.

*edit* as you see above, it turns into a PC+1 fest when a pic is posted, because it creates a total discussion irrelevent to the topic within the topic, and draws focus away from the OP... this is why its an issue.

Who the fuck cares if some crappy ass thread gets derailed? This guy got BOOTED from a shell, and is bitching that he didn't get paid for his points. I totally agree that a thread that doesn't suck complete balls shouldn't be derailed, but if someone takes the time to view this thread, they're gonna be severely dissapointed, considering how retardedly pointless it is. I just view derailment as providing entertainment so they're less let down.

On the subject of cat pictures... they're funny once in a while, but I feel that Zaltana totally overuses them, which is just like when someone repeats the same inside joke 4000 times. It just plain loses the flavor.

I think that so far out of my mmo experience by far ff has to be the worst system for obtaining items in a ls which in turn spawns greed in players. Why you may ask? Because lets say you join a linkshell, you get 1 point per hour of doing something, naturally others where there before you and will have dibs on anything and youll eventually have to work your way up. Now lets say after 6 months you have 200 points, shell breaks. 200 hours gone trying to get 1 piece of gear. Ok on to the next shell, same deal X months playing got 100 points and want a piece of gear. Kicked because of peoples issues with you, another 100 hours gone and nothing to show for it. 300 hours of your time = wasted. Any decent linkshell in my opinion that has broken / kicked a person should reimburse the person for hours spent. In my example, NotoriousHunters (dunno remember how many points) what i got out of it? Optical Hat. Test maybe 50 points what i got out of it ? Nothing. Kursed something like 60 some odd points what i got out of it? Rostrum Pumps. Perseverance close to 80 or 90 what i got out of it? Bards Roundlet, Bards Gloves. Id say close to 300+ hours of playing this game and what i have to show for it is 2 pieces of relic, optical hat, and a pair of rostrums. If someone gets booted for something thats not jacking a uber item from someone you should pay them a flat fee for hours spent, lets say @ the points i had i could have gotten my much needed d body abj, a legs abj, and an osode or manteel. Welcome to the wonder full world of you can profit through someone coming to camp / kill things then when you find someone better kick him and give him nothing. Leaders of ls's in this game have to much power to get what they want and keep people down. Wanna be successful in your ff career? make a ls, get it to do everything and help you get whatever you want. Im sick of this game if i dont see an invite to a decent shell by wednesday im done. Fuck the bullshit ive played way to long to have what i have. Feel free to rant about your own personal being fucked experiences.

The irony of this entire thing is that you posting about derails is a derail on its own.

But anyway, I like Zalt's cat pictures. They never cease to amaze me with their originality. Seriously, who could have thought of WHM AF cat? They are practically expected out of every flameboard post and they don't really derail the thread since everybody laughs for a couple of posts and move on. Just like when Shyrra/Legomyeggo posts random shit.

Doing anything in FFXI for the reward isn't worth it. You either have to keep working to keep your character improving or else the sum of all your previous time spent working is for nothing. As in, you can get endgame gear and merits, but they're only useful to get more endgame gear and more merits. So if you're not having fun in the first place, don't bother, because the reward is essentially useless if you don't like the method that it comes from.

Also, when you finally find yourself at that point that you don't want to work anymore and consider yourself, "good enough," then a month later Squaresoft will just make some update making your gear less efficient than some new setup. That's why the only endgame I'll do is Limbus because it's actually fun for me to participate in.

All true. Endgame is just a damn cycle. And predictable, repetitive cycles in games = boring. I don't even touch endgame now after having made up my mind. And I don't give a damn for lack of gear from such things. I don't pay to work.
