Its easy to level thief? Where the hell have you been? I've partied with numerous idiots who do not know what SA or TA was. I've partied with tanks who dance around trying their best to avoid the TA. I've partied with idiots who voke just before SATA lands. I've partied with BLMs that cast their highest spells immediately upon me using SATA and before it even lands after I just yelled at him for 5 mins not to. I've seen it all and I can say leveling thief is not easy. Sitting in Jueno waiting for hours to get an invite from a party that has a higher chance of being filled with idiots who cannot grasp simple concepts is not appealing to me. And recently after the update the thief population boomed or atleast it seemed so to me. I saw 4-5 thiefs seeking my level range(+/- 1 level) every time I was seeking. Not everyone is meant to level thief. Not everyone can level thief. Not everyone should level thief. But everyone has the right to hunt NMs monsters. My entire comment which seems lost on your poorly educated ass, was that you seem to decide what constitutes the bar and you have no right to make. Not only because you are no different from anyone else but because you set it sololy where it fits your situation. You want it so that it benefits you. You consider everyone with less than you gimp.

The entire comment stems from Phrausts post where he says only thiefs should hunt NMs because of treasure hunter. He claims without proof (limited data is NOT proof) that treasure hunter 2 significantly affects all drop rates and that if thiefs were the only NM hunters, prices would drop. I do not disagree that TH does affect drop rate but to what extent no one knows. But if he thinks TH2 should be the bare minimum, why not TH4? I mean if all thiefs with TH4 did all the NM hunting everything would drop more and it SHOULD be cheaper than if TH2. Since TH4 should improve drop rates considerably over TH2, that would increase supply. Supply increases and prices drop. So in essence you are wasting NMs just like a mage who camps NMs. Heck why doesn't everyone stop doing any farming until they have leveled thief so they have TH2 when they farm and all drops are better and cheaper, but its very simple to see thats not possible.
*Side note: Phrausts original statement was that if only TH2 was used, supply would increase and prices would drop. Although this statement is not entirely incorrect by itself, he neglects demand part of the equation which entirely voids the statement in this situation. Its supply AND demand. Cannot have one without the other. Since he neglected that in his original argument, I have also neglected it here.

Not everyone can claim every NM. Most people work for a living and work 9-5 everyday, M-F. Can you honestly say those people have a fair chance at claiming Argus, when they need to spend days tracking the NM in order to get one claim? No they cannot. I see you and all the Argus hunters can spend days on end camping it, but unlike the rest of us, we cannot do so. We have work, families, school, and social lifes to attend to. Maybe you can say the same, but with the amount of time (I think you said 8 months?) I doubt you have anything even close to a real social life.

Was wondering when the "I have a life" comments would come up as usual, glad to see you still are short on new material.

Lastly, there are a million different ways to play this game. Some people chose to farm a lot to have the best gear. Some get their craft up high in the begining so in the end they afford whatever they want. Others level fast so they can kill higher level mobs. Others enjoy NM hunting or gods. Some don't even play much of the game and enjoy the social aspect. There is no wrong way to play. I don't particularly like that people have a thought as to what should be the standard. Its my game, I set my standard. If you don't like it, you are free to avoid interaction with me. Thats all part of the game. If you are so conceited as to think there is one set path or one set standard you are an idiot. Personally I think the game should have more items with hidden traits, that way people can complain less about gimps since there would be no quantifiable measurement to compare or a broader range of items so that people have more options instead of everyone looking the same much like everyone does now.

the PCC LB and EP farmers benifited from inflation, they did not create it. inflation, as described in #2 is the gil farmed/fished/crafted by gil sellers. they produce new gil and collect from other players through the sale/npc/quest of the items they farm. they do not return the gil into the economy, rather they sell it online, someone buys it, then buys the PCC LB EP from the people who farm it.

Argus was a key cause of inflation, because it separated wealth. When there is a huge separation of wealth in an economy, the average get marginalized and the majority ends up paying inflated prices because of a few wealthy individuals. Argus was an inflator. Judging from the wording of this compared to your previous posts, I’m guessing that you’ve just cut and paste this, but hopefully you’ve at least read it while you were pasting it. (and we’re using the second definition here, the first refers to inflating balloons)

Inflation isn’t just prices rising, it’s the loss of purchasing power of money. In FFXI this is caused by having more money coming into the server than is leaving the server.

Money Coming into Server
- Money from killing mobs
- Money from selling items to NPC’s
- Quest Rewards

SE has been making these harder over a period of time. Mob drops and Quest rewards haven’t changed, but the major source of money coming in was selling items to NPC’s. Fish bots farmed fish 24/7 and sold almost exclusively to NPC’s creating huge quantities of gil. Nearly all the changes to fishing (making it more difficult to catch fish over items, nerfing the NPC costs of fish, nerfing the costs of items to NPC’s like padded caps) have been to reduce the huge amounts of gil created

Money Leaving the Server
- Buying Items from NPC’s
- AH/Bazaar Fees

Again SE has been introducing incentives to remove money from the economy. Introducing Guild points means a lot more useless items are being bought from NPCs. AH fees were increased, and high price items (eg Vir Subligar) are introduced to both increase supply of items and to remove gil from the server.


Me buying a PCC from another player doesn’t have any effect on the amount of gil on the server, no matter how much I pay, and has no effect on inflation. No gil is being cereated or lost. The increasing price for the PCC had been caused by an increased demand (more players with enough money to buy one) and a constant demand (2-4 Charms a week being created).

Now the way to reduce the prices is to either reduce demand by adding a comparable or better item, or to increase supply by introducing them onto the server more often. The same number of Rare/ex versions are available from the Maze as before. The BC is now available too, and it’s not that hard to get one there so supply has definitely increased by a large margin.

What’s been the result on PCC prices? 25 million before patch…. <10 million now. But it has nothing to do with inflation. It's Supply/demand.

And gilsellers who camp NMs have nothing to do with inflation either... (unless they sell to NPCs). In fact, gil sellers have been keeping prices down on Quetz. It's almost always real players who cause prices to rise.

If you want to do something about a problem, you need to have at least some idea what's causing the problem, and so far SE seems to have a much better idea than most players...

Again, gil hunters have everything to do with inflation. When the US market inflates, it isn't because the US makes too many dollar bills on the presses. Similar situation in FFXI. When the wrong people take cuts of things they shouldn't and exacerbate the difference between average and wealthy, inflation occurs by default. that is correct. the argus campers are not making the gil. IGE is making the gil, amnesia girl buys the gil, then the PCC from whoever camped it.

like i said in my earlier post, the good folks down at Argus were just capitilizing not only on peoples willingness to CC effectively, but also to farm their own damn equipment.
