Everyone has a Peacock Charm.

Omit that, trying to do other things around while rather tired. Expanded:

Gasoline will never always be around, thats why it's going up in price, and people pay for it. Manufacturers price it based on availability, and as it's used up, the source is tapped until it's empty.

A Peacock Charm(Or Ferrari, using Meezes example), will be around forever. Though the ferrari will degrade, if you take care of it it will last a long longer than gasoline. These items do not cause inflation, since they do not disappear. Luxuries too are priced on availability, but will(theoretically) be around for ever. As well, more Peacock Charms come in every week(rather, did.) Items like these are not the cause for inflation.

Again, not true. If it is somthin you need, you will up your price. Look at Gas, did everyone stop buying it? No, they need it, they buy it. Some may look for diffrent solutions such as hybrids and public transport, but the same is true in the game. If somthing is too expensive, people find alternatives.

Gas is a commodity though. We're talking about luxuries.

That just from your perspcetive. In many places in the world, gas is a luxury. To some people, indoor plumbing is a luxury. To others, Learjets are a commidity. It's all in how you look at it

braydon, gil buyers don't know how to make gil, therefore would never buy anything of value if not for gil sellers. that 5 mil they spent on SH would never of existed if they, and people like them, never paid IGE.

do you think IGE would have gil farmers if there wasn't a market. No IGE=a whole lot of gimp ass people seeking parties. without IGE many people would not be able to afford anything in this game. prices on things would go down without IGE because all the idiots with a credit card standing AH would get denied.

that gil would not exist on our server if not for people buying it. it is obvious they are too dumb to farm it.

I don't agree. I think Gil buyers could figure it out if they were forced to, but they found a shortcut. That being said, IGE's gil farmers still create value for the currency they farm. They farm like any player could.

And as for gil buyers, who cares? Let em buy gil. It's not like we play ff to win. This isn't a compition. I have been playing since Feb 04, and I'm only lvl 60 on my main job. Why? Cause I play at my own pace. I farm and have a good time with it. I like gardening. I like working on my skill ups. To me, FF is much like life. It's not the destination, but how you get there. Some may race to 75, but they wont enjoy it like I do.

there was a DRK who bought 30 mil or so worth of gil. Off the top of my head i don't remember his name, but he tried selling his character on ebay.

he had over 90 leather, all the top notch armor with all the bells and whistles.

this was a kid who sucked so bad at making gil, he went to the last resort of buying it. can you honestly tell me he would have acheived hauby +1, snipers+1, every slot+1 and his craft by farming?

i doubt it, some people just don't know how to make gil.

imagine i work at the mint. and i press myself out a billion dollars, and i let all my friends have a billion dollars. are you telling me that the US economy will be ok? it will be fine because i could just go work for my billion dollars?

Gas is going up in price becuase of higher demand, not because it wont be around forever.

Inflation isn't tied to one item. It when currency loses buying power. This happens when a growth in currency is not matched by a growth in production.

First off, the story of the dark illustrates what I was saying. He was all uber, but didn't enjoy the ride cause he rushed it. It's all about having a good time. And as for wether or not he could learn to make honest gil is unknown.

Secondly, yes, if you pumped trillions upon trillions of dollars into the economy, it would mess things up. But gil farmers don't do that. They don't sit on the airship making gil... They farm items to sell for gil. They create materials. Now, if they work to hike up price artifically, that sucks, but they seem to be at least creating materials

part of what they do if farm/camp nm's to sell/craft at AH. but there are also the people who are mass producing/farming items to npc/quest.

Lloo i think is the name of the guy who sits in bastok mines and makes padded armor from items the bot fishers fish up, there is a 24/7 line running from him to the fishers.

he crafts right next to an NPC that he sells what he makes. there are tons of ways these gil sellers exploit what they farm into bringing new gil into this game, as well as selling for gil that is currently in the economy.

i dont know what the padded gear sells for, but from what i remember it is pretty good gil to NPC. but say he makes 5 a min, thats 60 an hour. if theys sell for 1k thats 60k in an hour.

go on down to bastok mines and see how long he is there, it is a 24/7 operation, that is a lot of "new gil" coming in. it would not be a problem if they did this and ammassed this new gil. the problem is when someone buys it and circulates it. and lloo isn't the only one they have, there are people exploiting quests and npc'able items for gil to sell.

Considering how much gil goes out of the server via taxes, chocobos, OP warps, shops etc, that 60k/hour isn't much. Hell, I took about 500k out of the economy in about 10 minutes buying enough Tufa in Bastok Markets to make Bookshelves.

lloo is one guy, and my numbers i pulled out of the sky, i'm sure he can make for than 5 a min, and for some reason 2.5k for padded gear sticks out in my mind.

he is just one of many that do stuff like this. there is the tiger fang farmers, the bot fishers the list continues. tons of people recieving new gil for items that would never exist on our server if not for them.

that bs did you know that the price of gas in alaska is actually more the the price of gas in the states. Why? Because they have tho send it to the refinery in the states. The refinery charge high prices causeing the the gas company to charge higher prices. Just like how people charge highe price for item causeing the amount gil need to be raise which in turn causes inflation just like the gas.

Ya the diffent beween the pcc and a "ferrari' is what make the ferrari so special is that they only make a certain amount a year (they are ordered then built to the specs that you ask). The PCC on the other hand is a soloable item which could be obtain by anyone there for sould not actually be called a
item.
A Dalmatica is a luxury item this item is hard to obtain. The pcc was only hard to obtain because of the mass camping. People made this item hard to camp to get rich off it which other people paid. SE saw the problem and fixed it. The archer ring are the same was you say that there where shity drop rate I say ney. Ive been down there several times in the pass gathering rse and just messing around with the gilseller because it fun to piss them off. Huntnui spelling** had gathered over 4 to 5 withen a few hour time plenty of times. Agian only is hard to obtain because of mass camping. The inflation come in because the item is monpolized to the point causeing the item to rise in price. Which then in turn causes other itemsa to also rise and other to fall because people want "said item" and sell items and dont buy other to get "said item." The item is hard to obtain because the drop rate suxs. SE fixed that. So now people have to go find a new cash cow. You said meggi and all them mob in Castle Oztroja
and i guarantee that withen a few months SE will do the same to though items.

people never really bought PCC's at 8mil. it was always a luxury item. just like kirins osode. osode is going for 40 mil, but i'll bet you there are more osode's on this server than PCC's.

you guys keep saying the monopolization of a select few items is inflation, but it isn't. it is what hellstorm called it, monopolization. nothing more nothing less.

PCC didn't cause inflation, it went up because of it. PCC is not an item is, or has ever been, traded on a consistant enough basis to affect the economy. it is a vanity item. I know lots of people with one, and they hardly ever use it, it just sits on their mule, or in storage.

The PCC (and now the PCA) ARE limited items, when you get right down to it. You're looking at what, 365 spawns a year, which may or may not be Argus. The exact breakdown of LK vs Argus spawns is something I never bothered to research.

As for Inflation, fishers (both GS and otherwise) are also a serious cause, since people just love to NPC stuff rather than AH it. Which is a major part of the reason behind the constant fishing tweaks. As for Lloo... He has his equivalent in every major city except Jeuno, and I reckon they pull in about 50K an hour from NPC sales. Give or take. They're also used to make other basic smithing materials, so they tend to do that when they're not resynthing rusty gear.

On a separate note....

SE generally prefers group achievement to individual achievement in the game. There are LOTS of things that you simply can't do on your own at the time you're expected to do them. AF, Rank, a number of quests, etc etc. Some folks prefer the prestige of individual achievement. I'm not one of them. Spending all day camping Argus to MAYBE have a chance at a drop isn't my idea of fun, nor does it inspire any particular amount of respect. I've done it, it's incredibly boring, and without a leech-cam, potentially a complete waste of time. Though I will admit that taking LK out from under Rinas' nose that one time was vaguely entertaining. So seeing the four most abused NM drops in the game get shifted to BCNM made me chuckle, in no small part at the thought of posts EXACTLY like this one.

Nonononono. Try camping it sometime. It has got to be the hardest soloable NM in the game to camp. I've been trying to get my hands on one and it is far from easy.

He has a 18 hour window with no intervals, which may be extended to over 100 hours. You literally have to spend days down there to even see the thing.

Don't be too proud, Rin was only in the leech room when she's afk ;)

And about Pere's comment about having business partners, and Raes comment about group achievement, and everyone's comment about no one else having a chance down there... After they nerfed Argus in the patch BEFORE this one, to make his spawn area bigger, it was always very possible for some random person to be walking by and it spawn infront of them away from everyone else. Even with a few friends camping together that can still happen. Ask Rebandra's crew... they almost always had 6 people down there (their team alone outnumbered all the other campers), and still missed a lot of claims.

SE made it so that effective regular camping required a group already, and even then there was no guarantee on the claim.

Yes thats the reason you had to put more chars there  .Argus is nerfed but listen cheaters. There might be some other stuff to bot... go bot that ochido's kotes NM ???.And if u are that hard working how about you go farm countless hours and then get your equipment.Trust me u'd know the value of 2 million gil =0

I was a millionaire back when the highest NA was level 60 and 1mil actually meant something WSM. Long before I even heard of Argus.

You're the lazy fuck with a 2 minute attention span that needs to go farm and learn the value of gil.

Leech-Cam is always AFK! :D

It was a fun fight though, LK and like all the damn leeches in the room against me with half MP, 80% HP, and field gear. Made me glad I had a warp scroll on me...

If i was the lazy fuck i'd have one easy to level blm job.But then again if i was given two options either to pick lazy or retarded cheater then i'd go for lazy.
