"I eat sushi and I have 60 acc on me!"

You reeking dumbass, then why the **** are you eating sushi. You idiots of the forum amuse me to the point of neglecting my work.

Because I'm an elvaan drk, jackass. You hardly ever pt with drk so you wouldn't know - but apparently you don't pay attention to the low racial acc of elvaan and the low job acc of drk.

I hit between 20-30 damage on normal hits. With Sole Sushi. With Chief Kabobs, I hit between 23-35 damage.

Then Phraust is neglecting his strength modifiers if that's all the better meat does for him. Or again, if he is subbing war while berserked--when eating meat really wouldn't offer that much benefit.

Eating meat as a thf/nin will do a HECK of a lot more than 3-5 damage per swing. We're talking tens if you back that ATT up with some strength boosts. And again: 15 str on my meleeing set.

so there ya go what is that, over 10 more hits per fight, pre-sc?

so that'd be 50%~ more TP, resulting in a Higher WS number

in addition to the +5 STR and +5 DEX of sole sushi, mod'ing the WS.

More hits more TP bigger sc bigger dmg

note how phraust isn't even mentioning the inverse increase in the Light SC dmg

where'd you get the idea that he was /war? His sig has a pic of him as /nin... and that's all the indication he has given. Stop making shit up.

...seriously this is like debating with a retarded wheelchair-bound old woman. At some point you just start feeling bad, because they're too impaired to be mentally whipped.

I know what you mean - you flip flop more than John Kerry.

Form a solid argument instead of just making shit up, then things would be more clear.

lol funny thread.

I didn't read all the posts but my 2 cents...

I had the same skillchain partner for about 15 levels (a RNG, pre-patch). Same static for like 10 levels, some have posted here but w/e fuck them. ;)

I have had, since level 60, a SH, dual snipers, life belt for TP (til Optical Hat @ 70, got rid of lifebelt then), capped Marksmanship every level (well not at start of level) and probably some other shit who knows. Thats +30 ACC, I had +40 at some points too. I also ate Squid Sushi this whole time. Oh yea I also use swaps for TP, DEX, AGI. Swaps changed around a lot for WS's but doesnt matter. I experimented a lot.

Now RNGs (pre-patch) gain TP fucking fast and we all know this. If I could not be even in TP with RNG or out TP him (minus barrage of course) I was very disappointed because we SC'ed as much as possible. I would usually have to land one or two acid/bloody bolts a fight to accomplish this. When I was hasted (rarely as my static could tell you) I out TP'ed RNG a lot.

Ok now to the point.

Tried some of that shitty ass god food, Ambrosia around 68. Was the worst 3 hours of partying that me and taht RNG have had because I lagged big time on TP, EVEN THOUGH I had all same TP gear on and used same swaps, etc. I couldnt keep up even with all that ACC because I didnt eat sushi. My attacks were same damage. SCs same. Oh yea btw Amrosia gives 7% ACC.

When I hit 74ish I decided to use some Curry for ATT because all weapons are like VT at that point. Now I could somewhat (still not same) keep up with TP with RNG now without sushi because the mobs were lower BUT my damage was barely increased on attacks and I didnt see a difference on SC's so WHATS THE POINT. I would rather have the faster TP back for more TP on SC.

Oh yea something I forgot, good luck landing a bolt without sushi because THF's R.ACC takes a big fucking dive after 60. Now post patch who knows how it works anymore I never play THF.

My point = THF ACC + Sushi > you.

I've never seen P with war sub except when camping NM's

Phraust does not sub war for exp.

70 Elvaan THF/NIN here, I parse most of my EXP sessions with a static.

My TP gear gives me +58 ACC

With sushi I hit the mob for (around) 86% accuracy.

With ATK food (carbonera, bison steak) I hit the mob for (around) 63% accuracy

Mobs all conned IT Low evasion (both with and without sushi)

Ironically... even though I hit for more with ATK.. my parse came out the same at about 1100 dmg per fight, with either food.

What does this mean?!?

IMO ACC setup is better.. why?
Though I was hitting for more per hit with atk.. I obviously was able to place more hate on the tank with the extra TP from the ACC set up. Shark bite is TP dependant after all.

So... am I an idiot because I use TP gear with sushi?

I'm confused as to how you can possibly have 58 accuracy on a thief AND be eating sushi. Do you have Scorp harnesses on each ear?

This thief:

Scorpion Harness
PCC
Sniper's
CCB+1
Life belt

...has 55 accuracy on them on a good day.

This thief:

Blue ****ing Cotehardie
Spike necklace
Sniper's
CCB+1
Life Belt

...has 25 acc on them on a good day.

Do you know what the accuracy for the second thief is if they eat sushi? 92 on decoratives...87 on Kindred demons.

If you eat sushi while equipping over 50 acc, you're the laughing stock of every FFXI forum but this one apparently.

Whoops can't add. Throw war gloves on and ...some idiotic pants choice to thief A. Doesn't matter, they're still gimp.

I'm sorry i tried reading this whole post but i spent the entire time laughing at Raivyn's avatar.. hahaha... "Wanna blow the horn of gondor?"

Back to the OP... I agree with Vang. I think there should be some items out there that are a pain to get. It's not the point of whether or not you or I think the PCC is worth the 10+mil is sells for, all that matters is that the people who managed to get one managed to sell one, or keep one for themselves. It's a badge of honour. Wouldn't it really suck if every item in the game was easy to get? I think it sucks that every THF who XP's past the late 50's early 60's is expected to wear a SH. In fact, I think it's damn rediculous.

But it doesn't matter. A good friend of mine managed to get his THF to level 64 without one. He had fun, got party invites, no one complained that he was gimping thier party, and everything was cool. He quit the game about a month ago (at least I haven't seen him) and he now he cares even less about his THF making it past level 57 without a SH.

It's a 4 ~ 5 million peice of equipment for a reason. It's awesome, and it takes some skill to craft and the items needed are worth quite some money. And I think it's stupid that somewhere most of us decided that since these are the best you can get at such and such level, that every player is required to stop and get said item whether they need to stop XP'ing or not.

If you want to be uber elite, hell yeah, the SH+1 is waiting for you, as is all the other cool things you gotta work hard for. It's great to see someone who worked hard for thier money, and earned themselves a SH and all this other crap.

A friend of mine reached level 57 THF recently. He got his SH, and was so proud of it, wanted to show me. But, I was like... ...almost every THF has one now... it's like... damn dude. I was happy for him, but he really despised all the time he spent farming for something he was led to believe he absolutley had to have.

And for the rest of you who do say that these items are necessary... that's fine too. I'm sure you can find a THF with the equipment that you want. You wanna call another player gimp? Meh, okay... I'm sure they are still having fun playing the game, and it's nice to see they aren't forcing themselves to do something just to fit your cookie cutter image.

Peregrine, I don't have a lot of respect for some of the things you say. You're rude and obnoxious, but you're not always that far off from the truth. Play the way you want to. I'm sure someone will still play along side you, no matter how "gimp" some of these other players say you are.

Scorp harness----10
Life Belt-----------10
Snipers x2--------10
Optical hat--------10
Specticles---------07
CC+2--------------05
War gloves +1----06

Total---------------58

I will admit that I know nothing about Exping on demons.. once again I am level 70.

See.. your goal is to get 100 TP in under 60 seconds.. thats neat and all.. but SB damage really kicks in at about 150 TP plus. My goal is to get 150 TP in under 60 seconds.. and after parsing my damage and accuracy on both ACC and ATK foods.. I personally found ACC to be the better setup. I explained why in my last post.

Apparently all these 'forums' that you talk about dont know how to use a parser maybe?

Now, you just heard the same story from both onions and myself... I would be suprised if someone refered to either one of us as 'gimp' THF. You seem to be pulling numbers from everywhere, that none of the other THF's seem to agree with. I would be happy to take you up on your 'THF Challenge' but sadly, at level 70 I could not compete. Maybe one of the other THF's can step up and prove you wrong?

Don't have a lot of respect for WHAT things I say? That I can't stand elitists? That you should be made fun of if you eat sushi while wearing 50+ acc? That a thief without a scorpion harness is by no means a gimp? That the difference between these snots and "gimps" isn't as large as they'd like to think?

Or is it the way I say it? The dripping arrogance and the condescension. Like I said, if you look down to try to talk to me, you'll be staring at my feet. I take this tone with internet elitists because they're flat-out amusing to me.

As far as shark bite going postal above 150 tp...I've been in parties with slow partners. I know what shark bite does. 100 tp is 150 tp is 200 tp...let's never forget that strength modifies shark bite because shark bite is an attack, and with your setup...you've got none. Attack modifies shark bite because shark bite is an attack. With your setup...you've got none. At L70 what do you hit dhalmels for? 6? I know thief, and I know what eating sushi does to a thief who doesn't compensate. You can't fool me. I know the job.

Why do you think you hit for 1300 with double minuet while hitting for 750 without it? Because it's all about the tp? No. It's not.

Nail on the head. Like I said, I don't disagree with what you say, I just respect people who can make their point without sounding like an asshole. You've got this "whole world against me" attitude, when really, only a small fraction really cares.

Just putting in my two cents, needed or not. Please... continue...

If you're going to have the balls to call me gimp, you'd better take what you throw.

It's his hypocrisy that makes me laugh. He's upgraded his gear, so that's no longer a problem. It's his "I look down on everyone that looks down on other people" attitude that keeps me reading.
