Played some more Fable 1 last night.
I think in a lot of ways, it's like some of the underrated PS3 games this gen. In that it does one of the most important things correct, and that's atmosphere. Playing it is a captivating experience, in that the world feels very fleshed out and well put together. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble with the quests, since they all involve sending me to specific locations and the ability to get to the exact spot they want me to go varies, as well as the travel time it takes. The combat and the quests once I actually get there are fine. As well as the graphics held up decent enough and the music is better than average for a western RPG.
What is strange I noticed, there's a bit of a Tim Burton feel... now I love Tim Burton movies, but I don't think it really works here, it's in a way like it's making fun of everyone in the world, me included. Don't know if anyone else picks up on that.
Other complaint I guess is that it's a little easy to mistakenly do evil things. When I hold down the left trigger to lock on, that locks onto civilians - but when they're mixed in with bad guys, and the bad guys are rushing me, it's easy to not even think about it and kill a few civilians as well- just my opinion.
If Fable 2 is just put together a bit more cohesively, with less load time, and uests that require less traveling effort(I don't mind traveling really except that when you go the same place over and over is boring), it should be a really nice game. Still more interested in Tales of Vesperia cause I prefer more linear RPG plots - but it's something I'll get eventually.
