Failure Rates

I have no doubt the PS3 has faired better in defects than the 360. For $600, it better.

I'm just saying that 1 in 3 failing due to factory defects is bullshit. The problem was polling retailers who offer their own warranty. Those things cover just about everything, except breaking it at the store infront of the employees.

I would say pretty hard to distinguish defects due to factory or retailers.
However if retailers were the ones, than other consoles would have an impact too right?
Chances of failing due to manufacturing is higher than retailers.
For example that link i gave, 11 consoles are from MS and yet it got busted. It has nothing to do with retailers.

I'd like to laugh at the following dumbasses.

Skaw...
Bajaratt.
Strid.

Who claimed for months that the failure rates could not be so high because then there'd be millions of dead 360s, and if there were millions of dead 360s there'd have been lawsuits and news reports.

Fox News says there have been at least 2.5 million defective Xbox 360s. They aired it last night at 10 PM.

I think you can stop apologizing for Microsoft, claiming how polling is biased against them,(lol at Bajaratt the high school dropout) lying about how you asked your full friends list of people and nobody ever had a RROD(lol @ Skaw the lying motherfucker) or just in general acting like a dumbass on QCDN.

I'm sure you'll all admit it now that the warranty has been upped so it's not so big of a deal anymore.

I'm sure the Wii and PS3 failure rates are quite low, because otherwise we'd be reading about them everywhere, like we have been for the 360.

You can make the argument that they haven't been out as long/not as many, but the truth of the matter is, even when the 360 was new, we heard about them failing. This has been a problem from the start.

My brother's friend's 360 broke down wednesday. He called Microsoft yesterday, and everything is getting taken care of.

The failure rate sucks, but at least they are replacing their broken units, and not just giving 360 owners the finger. So it could be worse, but now it's really just a very big inconvenience.

2.5 million is what, 15% of the total? 20%? That's a far cry from the 60% you were spouting off, and yet somehow we're the idiots for knowing it couldn't possibly be that high and being correct. It's like you can't even read unless it's lolmicrosoft, lolnintendo, or fapfapfapsony.

No one ever said that the 360 didn't have a high failure rate, we said it was no where near as high as you were claiming off an unreliable internet poll. All you've done is prove that we were right, it's still very high but no where near the numbers you were blatantly assuming were right. Congrats, you've done our job for us.

12Million+ 360s sold. And imo its such a good move for MS to up the warranty. This places much more trust in MS. From the people who were not sure if they should buy 360 because of faulty hardware. Now they know its covered for long long while. Again as long as my shit works its all good.

When I saw that Pasquale had responded to this post I thought it was about Spiny Spipi.

There aren't even 12 million 360s shipped. That was their goal but they missed and are at 11.4 mill. There are around 10 million actually sold.

Sony and Microsoft like to talk in terms of shipped numbers since it looks better compared to Wiis that are still constantly sold out.

But the 2 million 360s sitting on store shelves aren't part of the ratio as they haven't had a chance to break yet.

And fox news is, by and large, a highly respected and reliable news source!

What exactly is the benefit to the Republican Party / Rupert Murdoch / Newscorp to misrepresent xbox 360 failure rates? They only bother to spin the news when it is advantageous to do so.

You have no idea how true this is. GameStop, up until November of 2006, would take systems back as defective even if it was just cosmetic. Your system gets a nick or dent in it, even if it still played perfectly fine, was covered under warranty.

I don't care how many GameStop or EB employees were polled (most are between the ages of 16 and 20 and know shit about anything). The fact that in store warranties cover anything makes all of this irrelavent.

Shoot, then I'd better hide my DS lest they take me in for questioning cause I must be using it to target young children.

It's called sensationalism.

2.5 million is 15-20% of 10 million?

Jesus christ you really are stupid.
They hit 10 million almost 4 months ago, I figured even with the Wii destroying everything in sales they could pull another million or two sales out in 3-4 months. I guess the 360 has slowed down to PS3 levels already. Next time I'll double check, so that your panties don't knot quite so much.

Hey if just 200k PS3s failed.. They would have a 20% fail rate! Ok ok.. Just a shot at PS3 sales... Sorry...

You're missing the point. They aren't being broken at the stores. They aren't defects because of mishandelling from the retailer. Here, retailers offer an additional warranty, for a fee, ofcourse. These are virtually infallible, and cover any excuse you can possibly come up with. Even if the system isn't broken, you can return it to the store and walk right out with a new one sealed in a box. Shit, I don't know about Gamestop, maybe Lanian could shed a bit of light on it - But Best Buy allows you to trade in your purchase for a newer model(which, I will be doing when the new hardware stuffs go in effect,) paying only the difference(if applicable,) if you have their additional warranty. How many people do you think upgraded their premiums to elites through this method?

These all get lumped in to a "Returned due to defects" category at these stores.

Over your head, like the dumbfuck you are.

Yes, Microsoft is paying for repairs and extending their warranties. But denying that the actual failed consoles values are inflated in number by retailer replacement plans is just.. wow.

Especially when the original post, made by yourself, is all about fucking retailers.

Good job there, Captain Genius.

Also, I enjoy how you put words in my mouth. I never denied that 360 had an above normal failure rate. I argued against your obviously untrue "60%... no, 33%!" horseshit.

If we agree it's in the 25-33% range there's nothing to disagree on. I agreed that there'd be a bias on the poll towards people voting who have 360 problems and people with fine 360s to avoid the poll.

On the other hand I think you were one of the dumbasses defending their 3-5% industry standard declaration.

I knew it was much higher ever since EA said half of their devkits fucking broke.
