Fair warning for party leaders...

Don't almost everyone drag a PL at lower lvl these days? if the leader dont like RDM/nothing, they can choice not to invite the person. If the members dont like the leader invited the RDM/nosub, they can choice to leave.

First of all, why the hell is everyone so angry about this. The guys a fucking joke. The only time he'll get an invitation to a party is, as in previous statements, in cases of desperation. Regardless whether he has a PL or not.

As stated above, he'll never get into an end-game shell. Anything serious that this player wants to partake in, he's going to have to go get a damn sub job and then level -all- of them up to par. While I can see where this would be an interesting experiment, its such a detriment to his abilities as a party member that there isn't any way (unless he had a control group of all /-- players) he's going to prove a damn thing with it. Other than, of course, the easiest way to not get a party.

I kind of see this from both ways, the person wanting to play the game without a subjob for the shear difficulty it would provide and then the other view as the person being gimp. But at this time, I am going to have to say it IS gimp. Not because he wants to play the game in tough mode without a subjob, but because he has a PL. If he had played on the merit of the job and his own skill, I might have thought it was mildly ok, but he is relying on a PL to make it through thus in my opinion negating any achievement a 75WHM/0SUB would give. In other words, he just wanted to be gimp. What could you possibly accomplish in the game that requires a WHM with no sub, but you require a PL to do anyways? Why not just have the PL do it in the first place?

This is basically tantamount to playing without a hauby, SH or Noble's and having a PL do the work except worse. A subjob provides more in stats that any single piece of gear can provide. It also provides a large amount of job traits, abilities and spells, that no piece or pieces of equip could ever hope to give. While, it is up to the leader and equally, the group members to make a choice of whether they should progress a noob further for the trade-off of getting experience at that moment, remember that that person is still getting further and you're responsible for getting them there. Thanks to people like that, the Antdogs of the game continue to exist.

Not main healing but Elemental seal can be a godsend when a sleep is needed or a enfebble that just wont stick. Ditto for Divine seal on whm sub.

I'm not debating the usefulness of a BLM sub but I was speaking from "main healing" as far as /BLM goes. :P And I will more than happily agree with Divine Seal on a /WHM sub. (It's kickass for vert~!)

Plus the added feature if a dual boxer goes afk at a critical moment you lose not one but two people at once.

Most dual-boxers (idk about this guy) are aware and respectful of the position they put the party in when they dual/tri/quad box (...yeah, don't ask lol) and will speak up and take care with their AFKs. I will say it would be a mighty inconvenience indeed. In this instance though, the one person going afk is playing the same role that the one (RDM) would normally play, so they're fucked whether he's boxing or not.

My pompous attitude my dear Lec is nothing compaired to your apathetic stance on this. In your view as long as partys get fast easy exp and its not gained by a solid team but a PL thats all fine and dandy. Guess what this happens way too much.

I honestly prefer the solid teams, less parties I have to dualbox or have a friend babysit if no healer (lolSMNKhidirpullerwhere? :O ), but you know what? Things don't always pan out that way, and you make due with what you have to get xp.

This case aside I see many whm's out of a job in the dunes cause the party opted for an extra DD with a PL in tow, seeking as a mage has become a chore now as partys want faster exp and cant depend on a mage their level to support the team. So they get PL's in and any mages that are seeking their level can forget about partying.

People won't always PL, all the time and I agree this is an inconvenience but having a hard time getting parties isn't a new problem. Honestly if I'm dualboxing a PL, I -love- to have a healing mage there so I have to work it less and sit around and do nothing but my /ja and /ws for my melee jobs out there lol.

Oh and Lec you're a cool guy but please try to get all your comments in one post at a time. :)

But then how could I get so many posts? :/

I barely been here half as long as some of the other people and lookit my post count~! :O

IluJeska >_<;

In my social/sky shell we have someone who Triple boxes (?) all the time.

I quad box. :O <3

Tried after that, gets too hectic. -_-;

Yay for 2XB360's a PC and Lappytop :O

I didnt make a retort towards you because i realized what arguing with you makes me >.>;

Honestly i made no ill post towards anyone and you made a pot shot towards me. There was no argument that i made in the first place, nor was i planning on making a retort. I realized that arguing with you makes my head hurt, along w/ anyone reading the shit you and i argue/post about. So GG have fun and keep throwing those up there :\ I simply agree w/ Tyrath and Lec, if there is a RDM seeking, and there is no one else that remotely resembles a RDM then guess what I'd invite him too

No I didn't take a pot shot at you I told you the truth; you're an idiot and idiots don't realize other idiots. Tyrath is an idiot for thinking the red mage was doing a fine job for having an outside healer. The red mage wouldn't need that second healer if he had a sub job that gives a boost to his mana, poisona, blinda, curaga and benefits of any mage sub. Hell isn't Scholar are fairly viable sub for the boost some of the abilities gives to spells?

well, no shit

you don't notice shortcomings when it isn't hurting a group unless you're actually trying to find faults

it's pretty much common sense the party would have sucked had the outside healing not been there.. nor would the guy have been invited

i don't know how much of an elitist the people on here are (actually i do, and they are) but i would much rather take a gimp with help than wait possibly hours for someone viable.

I'm sorry sir, but you are an idiot if you think that the rdm wasn't doing a fine job just because he was going outside the norm and doing it on 2 characters. The end result was the same, and probably even better than it would've been with 1 rdm there.

Get off your "moral" high horses, and realize that just because its different, doesn't mean you can invalidate half of it and say it sucked.

Again another pot shot dude. My saying that i would rather party with a rdm w/o a sub job versus waiting for 4 hours has no bearing on idiocy. I assure you many people here would rather party up w/ someone that lvls with a gimp sub than waiting for 5 hours for another mage w/ refresh to show up. If the person refreshed ample and he did his job w/o a sub, then kudos to him. I guarantee that if this person continues this way he will not get into any sort of higher end game shell, which is his own wishes.

Honestly romper by saying that I am an idiot for saying "I dont see what Tyrath said as wrong" Then you kinda are calling alot of others on this site idiots :\. Including Lec who kinda defended you on a consistent basis.

So others have to suffer cause he wants to prove a point, I dont care if he brings 5 PL's he's a gimp and I hope he gets no partys. Tired of people making do with shitty players cause they have a lv 75 whm to back them up.

Jeska who is suffering when he is doing his job just fine and brought his second character to backup heal? No one is suffering imo. Someone told me that there was a really well geared BLM a couple years ago that leveled to 70+ w/o a sub job just for the hell of it. Having fun with your toon and ensuring that the parties you get are good ones, in my experience, have been signs of good players. Take it easy.

Dual boxing you mean, I have my doubts anyone doing two things at once can perform his tasks well. And know what by accepting someone with no sub and a PL you probably did a player that had a sub out of a chance to party, and maybe a whm your level too. (not sure if you went as a 5pk or not when you got the PL)

I guess now we are all so much more accepting if a 75 whm comes with the deal, I must remember to request one of those when i am having problems seeking a party.

I dual boxed my monk and bard from 25-75 and merited often using them both at the same time. I always had great xp per hour and did the 20k(ish) /hour parties too dual boxing. There is a lot of down time with some jobs. I would:
1. Pull mob with bard and bring to camp.
2. Start singing.
3. Engage monk and activate any buff needed.
4. Start singing second song.
5. Continue monitoring monk and ready weaponskills w/e needed.
6. Send bard out to pull again.

Rinse and repeat. Alternate songs for melee / mages each pull. Easy as pie. Although RDM is a bit more in depth there is still a bit of down time. I often find myself getting bored on my galka RDM/WHM as I main heal because sometimes there is not enough to do. Refresh cycles get tediously boring and I just sit there bored for a couple hours. Take a load off.

Some people level BST this way, it's -not- exactly unheard of.

I misworded that, I meant never getting exp from a mob, as in, nothing but exp scrolls, besieged, etc.

Guy a good player wouldnt need the back up 75 whm to prove themselfs, they'd go at it alone and show everyone how little a subjob matters to them. If you think someone PL a stiff is a sign of a good player well I guess anyone who's done anything without a PL's aid pales in comparison.

And depending on that persons level at the time a healer with a sub may indeed be suffering, I myself seeked as rdm seen a potentual party forming but never got an invite, maybe they took a PL instead to speed up their exp gain. You see its not just this one event that bothers me its the fact that players are lazy and if they see anything that comes with the added feature of a high lv PL they go for that even if mages are seeking their level.

Have fun with your toon if you want to, but dont expect the world to bend over and cut you a deal because you can dual box a PL with your limited skills persona. I have several alternative characters I have leveled over the years in this game and each of them has a sub job. I take pride in what I do to anything I have.

This guy HAS no sub job. An under leveled sub job still gives an MP boost and stat boost over no sub job. So having a gimped subjob versus no subjob is STILL better as you still gain some benefits for just having a subjob. God damn there is difference between a gimp sub and no sub. Which this player has NO sub job. You still have absolutely no idea how to read do you?

I would much rather wait for someone that isn't lazy needing a second character to do the role that someone with a subjob can do. I've said it once this guy's attention shifts from one character to another which means his Red Mage is lacking somewhere in performance. As having no power level means the party isn't relying on a safety net and your tank is well actually tanking making sure that they can do the job, damage dealers, and healers know their god damn roles. Fuck power leveling encourages bad player skill because you end up with healers that don't know how to heal, tanks that don't know how to tank, and damage dealers that don't know how to hold back so that no one dies.

Now to get back on the subject of subjobs being useful EVEN when gimped (under leveled). With an under leveled subjob still gives a small bump to your stats. Having more intellect for things like fire, blizzard, aero, stone, drain, aspir, blind, sleep, water, and well I hope you get the point makes your spells more potent. Where as with mind you gain a slight boost in how much your cures can cure for and the odds of your paralyze, dia, and slow spells stick. Not to forget lolholy and banish will deal more damage. Not much more damage, but more damage none the less. Not to forget with a lot of the subs you even gain a boost to your mana which either translates to more heals or nukes and the longer you can go with out resting. I'm not sure how scholar works but from my understanding some of the abilities in the grimoires could be quite useful in situational circumstances. Hell /scholar gives Regen II which I'm sure pleases some RDMs when on healing duties in a meripo.

So lets look at what this guy is missing from even a gimp subjob. He's missing a minor stat increase and a boost to mana. Not to forget with /blm the Red mage is missing out on aspir and drain. Later on with /whm you miss out on erase, -na spells, AND re-raise if you're too cheap to buy one of the items. So this not having a subjob automatically takes away from his performance and the spells he should have. So his performance wasn't fine it was sub-par because he's missing stats and abilities from a subjob. So to compensate he had a second character which means that somewhere either on the healer or his red mage his performance was lacking which still puts him sub-par, and still a leeching gimp because he isn't at full potential. I bet you a red mage at full potential would have done the job just the same as the red mage and white mage combined if it were a ninja tank while only being slightly behind with a paladin tank. Of course that is on the assumption that the red mage is good.

I'm on no moral high horse I'm on a high horse of you're an idiot, Tyrath, for letting a leech into your party.

Once again if you weren't dual boxing your monk would have been engaged right away. This takes away from your performance on your monk not to forget you stop focus on bard to use TP, buffs, and gear swap while the bard is already bringing another pull to camp to maximize the party's efficiency on exp. There will be a time lapse in your pull which could easily mean you lose a chain or you die because you take your attention away from your bard for your monk.

That is you. Other people would rather go get xp while they can. It is a personal preference.

Also, how is it that doing something that requires more effort makes you lazier than doing something that requires less effort?

It's not efficient, but it works just fine to suit the needs of all the other players.

You have argued that he is a gimp and is detrimental to his party because he has no subjob. At the same time, you argue that he is helping too much "As having no power level means the party isn't relying on a safety net", meaning they are relying on a safety net and not learning their job properly. Then you go back the other way with it, calling the power leveler a leech.

We get it. You wouldn't invite him. We are also very OK with that. We understand your concerns and agree that people with no sub are not meeting their full potential. You are saying that other people shouldn't invite him because he is going to make people suck at their job by giving them a safty net to just go berserk without the fear of dying. Like Tyrath. Because he doesn't know how to play Drk. Except, he does. So your point is moot. All of them actually.

Just let it go.

I was going to post something similar, but since you beat me to it so eloquently, we can sum this up with:

I would much rather wait for someone that isn't lazy needing a second character to do the role that someone with a subjob can do.

To each his own.

Quitting the game is no reason to stop posting here. Romper makes decent posts from time to time.

ITT, he's stuck in super asshole mode. Promting me to say...
