Fallout 3

The Victory Rifle is where it's at IMO. That gun is sex. Though, I carry both around cause I love being a Sniper.

I know I'm waaaaaaaaay late on this topic, but I just bought Fallout 3 the other day and am moving along very slowly. Any recommendations on what to do or how to do anything?

Read the thread =) There's a shitton of great tips in this thread.

God that rifle kicks ass. A sneak-crit to the head with the proper perks can kill damn near anything save a Behemoth. The only mission I didn't use it on after getting it was the last one, I just used the unique laser mini-gun and held down the trigger non-stop. By the mission end the gun was near-worthless, but was a blast to use.

The DLC was alright, although since I did it @ level 20, I pretty much walked through it with no major effort. Hell, you can get a squad and all that once past blowing up the artillery, but I was like "fuck that", and did the entire thing solo. And exploiting the ammo resupply points made it a lot easier. (drop all your ammo you want refilled, resupply, drop, repeat until satisfied. Then pick it all back up)

And the gauss-gun, oh man, wicked cool gun, but a single cell for a single shot? Damn.

Oh has anyone found the Chinese base yet?(This is in the normal game) They have fucking zombie chinese that see through the Ghoul Mask D:

I know I should, but it's already 50+ pages. I already read too much for school as it is. @_@ I'll probably get to it eventually, I'm just feeling especially lazy right now. :P

Ahhh =)

Well I have played tons of hours but spent most that time adventuring instead of following the quests.

First choose what 'alignment' you want to be. Then start your main quests.

A lot of people jacked up one skill with your skill points, small guns for instance. Least then your damage using that skill will be better to start off with.

I still haven't got the DLC for F3 yet so I'm unsure what it's about but it's probably further along in the game anyway.

SPOILERS, don't read if you haven't beat the game

Spoiler:
How does the DLC work? Does it start up right before the final mission or what? Since one of the choices in the final mission causes your character to die. Can anyone clarify for my how exactly the content in the DLC starts up?

Spoiler:

You receive a radio signal a few minutes into the game and you go to a thing which I'm told is kinda like the Vault Simulation thing where you find your dad. You could come right out of Vault 101 and do the DLC

yes. go to arlington national cemetery. its also where you find the bobble head for luck.

i dunno if you can steal all of them back though. i mean i did the quest and the reward just isnt worth it.

also i made an evil character and its so nice to just be able to kill anyone

No, you can't steal them back, but the reward(for giving them to the chick) most definitely is worth it.
Spoiler:
The more Nuka Grenade schematics you have, the more you make at a time. 2 gives you 2, 3 gives you 3. With 3, you can make more Nuka Grenades than there are Nuka Cola Quantums remaining than you could with 2 schematics without turning the 30 in.

Worthless oh no no. When you complete that quest you can also find the formula for the Nuka Cola Clear. Once you get that you can get Goalie Ledoux's Mask which gives you +25 AP. This headpiece rules if your looking to get in an additional shot in on your VATS.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Nuka-Cola_Clear_Formula

This is a seperate side quest, not tied to the Nuka Cola Challenge. Most likely you'll get it while doing the Challenge though, since the formula is in the plant you'll go to so you can find out where the shipping trucks are at. You don't even need to give it to Ledoux to get his mask, since the reward is only caps. You get the mask for killing him(no karma hit or boost for doing so either.) But yeah, it's the best helmet in the game really. My Melee character ran around in Ledoux's Mask and Prototype Medic Power Armor and still hit the DR cap easily from perks.

Just walk around for a little bit, you'll eventually get a message about a radio broadcast that was sent across the whole Wasteland, but was meant for specific ears. There is no radio station gained, it's just a pop up message. This is the start of the quest and you can then set it as your current in your pip boy. You can get this as early as stepping outside of the Vault for the first time. You can still do it at the end of the game too.

anyone else do weird shit with bodies after you kill them? wish i could take screenshots.

got bored and decided to place a benchful of headless raiders in the subway waiting for a train...

sitting them against the wall with thier hands in thier lap holding thier own decapitated head.

i get sicker with the female raiders >_> like getting them to use nuka-cola bottles as sex toys, headless lesbian postions with other dead female raiders lol

Well I once made a dead body wall like they had in 300...It wasn't nearly as big, but it was...impressive >_>

I once got bored and took the Deathclaw gauntlet and started destroying all the limbs of corpses while laughing a lot.

So has anyone played through The Pitt yet? I found it even shorter than the first DLC, but nonetheless enjoyable. Still, I don't know if this was supposed to be difficult or not. Sure, losing all your gear at the gate was annoying, but finding basic weapons once inside was easy enough.

I had hoped "the hole" portion would be harder than it was. Thinking the amount of radiation would be very high and force you to kill your targets quickly. Instead, after finding a rad-x and getting +72 radiation resistance from it (then add in my perks) meant I was seeing 1 or 2 rad/sec. Weak.
Spoiler:
So, first fight consists of killing three random guys. I had the basic assault rifle you find in the steelyard, which is RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR (geez), with about 42 bullets left. Killed all three in a single clip, didn't even bother with vats. Grabbed all their shit, and got a combat shotgun from one of em. Went back for round 2 against two "harder" guys right away. It took longer for the gates to open than it took to drop them both with the shotgun. Grabbed their loot. And then round 3 against some "champion". Used the Flamer picked up off the last one, killed him in under 5 seconds. Got the Infiltrator (which is a freaking assault rifle with a scope of it. /joy (useless thing can't hit jack over point blank, scope or no scope)). Then what happens? You get all your stuff back (it's in the footlocker in the same room), which makes you pretty much unstoppable.

Then finished the rest of the quests in about 2 hours and left. Had dropped my karma level down to "good" due to stealing everything not tied down and the occasional slave kill (they try to kill me, I kill them). Quick exchange of fingers for caps, and bam, back to max.

Trogs however. Annoying little suckers. They die in one hit to a shotgun blast at medium-long range, but if they get close holy fuck they can jump.

I just got this game few days ago and I'm totally impressed. The best thing is the next to nil load times when you enter dungeons and whatnot. That's what killed me in fable2, every time you go through a door boom, load time..

Random question, I'm trying to keep my guy in the good karma on the first playthrough, but I made my character as a thief.. high sneak/high lockpick/high barter skills/high pistol and heavy weapons. But you see my dilemma, every time I steal something that shouldn't be stolen I lose karma. Is that gonna bite me in the ass down the road if I want to get Fawk or whatever the good guy's name is with the hammer?
