PS FF8 Review

There's a difference? o.o;

...SPEAKING OF WHICH...

Does anyone here even play TM anymore? When I see the choice between ffxi and TM I always wondered if there were going to be more games added to the list D:

It's like the entire page between login and ffxi doesn't have a purpose anymore but to get downloads no one uses, and info no one cares about.

Remember the tribune! :D Damn I wish they'd bring it back. I'd so join. Walking around with a paintbrush beside your name would rock!

The 360 version doesn't even come with TM. I'm pretty sure SE's given up on it.

I loved FF8.

FF7, FF8 and FFtactics all owned, all for different reasons.

Double post.

I HATE VII. It's boring, the graphics and soundtrack absolutely suck, and Cloud and Sephiroth are completely and totally overrated. I never got further then Aeris getting killed. I never will. IT. IS. BORING. I say that playing VIII all the way through. F-7.

Um. I'll spell it. dotdotdot.

The final battle music was the best music of any FF games. The fact that you never got past Aeris dying proves your opinion on the game doesn't matter.

Hey hey hey, we're all forgetting a much better game here...Legend of Dragoon!

Opinions, it's a good game though, but I wouldn't call it much better.
And let's keep it on-topic, this is a thread about FF8 and other FF's, not Sony RPGs.
One more off-topic note, give me LoD2 damnit.

Tetra Master is FF9

Triple Triad is FF8

Right, right. Either way, in both 8 and 9 most of my playtime was spent playing the card games, lol.

FFVIII is made for people seeking a love story, sure all FF games have a romance, but not like this. The game play itself, or more specially the draw system, is reflective of that, being able to collect and release spells. Farming for spells before going off to do something big really does add depth to the strategy aspects of the game too. No MP gauge really does make FFVIII unique in that sense. Materia and Junction are below the surface but unveil different effects, aside from that, the game play between FFVII and FFVIII are roughly the same.

I was just looking at FFVIII on youtube and came across this scene. Laguna's side of the story was very interesting, and if SquareEnix ever decides to bring back FFVIII in any shape of form, it would be great if it can be played more from Laguna's point of view. Those Laguna side stories were soooo funny and really sad at the same time. Laguna trying to talk to Julia for the first time in that bar while she was on stage, i think is a scene that's amongst the best of all FF scenes.

The final battle with Ultimecia was dissapointing to me. Anyone with Lionhart simply hacked her up!

The final battle is very few final fantasies have ever been challenging if you so much as took a few hours to do some extra questing.

Only one I can remember being hard is Zeromous in FF4. And I'm sure I couldve overpowered him if I leveled up a little more too.

Really, Zeromous is all about hoping he doesn't use Big Bang. Unless you're really over leveled for the area you fight him at, it's an instant game over.

Yeah, hardest ones would be FFIII, IV and V bosses imo, but neither not that hard if you overleveled, mastered jobs, whatnot.
Now the super optional bosses are what I have fun with, Iron Giant in III DS, Proto-Babil in IV DS, Enuo, Omega (both ones), Shinryuu and Neo Shinryuu in GBA V, Kaiser Dragon/Omega in GBA VI, Ruby/Emerald VII, Ultima/Omega FFVIII, Ozma IX, so on so forth.

Ozma is prolly the hardest of the special bosses I've ever fought >.> the others I never really had a problem but Ozma required luck :(

...?

Beat Ozma first try at like lvl 55.

I always thought out of the secret bosses Omega Weapon from FF8 was the hardest (I haven't played FFX international for the dark aeons and penance)

I wish we got FFX International here, Penance is a bitch I hear.
I'd import the EU version but eh.

You're lucky then, because if Ozma uses any one of several combinations of two moves in a row it's basically an auto-loss. I know I fought him at least two dozen times in a row at level 60-65 and simply couldn't do it, came close a couple times but then he just insta-wins.

Omega Weapon is only hard if he interrupts you when you go to heal from his 9998 hit, or if you fail to put up Defense before the multi-strike special.

edit: or you didn't get a Gilgamesh triple triad card. >_____________________________> one of the many shitty things about FF8...

I imported FFX International, yeah, fuck those Dark Aeons. The sheer amount of time you have to put in to maximize your stats is absurd. I did it for awhile, but I got bored after long, just gets too repetitive.

Hardest boss I can remember recently is....
Spoiler:
Elizabeth
in Persona 3

Dario in Chrono Cross also used to fuck me up, fighting him the first time was insane, plus since there's real no leveling in that game you can't level for it.

Sure you can. he can be accessed semi early in the game. Just wait and do more bosses and fight him later, especially after the dragons so you could use the black plate on riddel or one of your attackers.
