Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread (the 2nd)

With the Adamtoise I did use Van, Hope and Snow at first but then when I ended up maxing out pretty much all of their stats (that includes the other roles) I ended up using Van, Sazh and Hope. I do Sab, Syn, Syn to get buffs up fast then switch to Sab, Med, Med and I can do that without even having the fear of death or needing to summon. I ended up getting so many plat ingots that I actually bought the 2 mil item to upgrade lol.

Also I read somewhere that Vigilance increases the chance of Death landing, is their any truth to this? That's why I like having Sazh there for the most part as Hope doesn't actually have it.

Thanks for all the advice. Can't say I've heard of the KB + Catman spot O.o

Dogman, Catman... Whatever it is man lol. Looks like more of a Cat to me >.< Its the one in the wide open area near the save point that leads to the minning area.

Really? I thought I fought them and got only ~12,000 CP prior to having a growth egg.

Damn you're all ahead. I've been spending an hour or two in the Tower farming those pulsework soldiers (the 5 yellow ones on tier 5 level at the bottom of the staircase). I run down, preemtive them, run back up and kill the vampire, run back down and do it again. I got to 200k CP for Light/Fang/Hope and took them to town on the Crystariem.

For people who finished the game without spoiling, what were you're over all thoughts?

Depending on how strong you are, you may want to move on to the group of six pulsework soldiers at the top of the tower. I never made a comparison to the group of five pulsework things, but it always feels good getting 8k CP from a single easy to beat battle. I think the only problem with the group of six is it's hard to get them to respawn. I think if you walk around the top floor killing everything and return to their spawn area, they'll be back. What I actually did was trigger a mission that you had to go down an elevator for (from top floor). Once I killed the pulsework things I went down the elevator, got owned, and then did "retry" which took me back up to the top floor with everything respawned.

As far as my opinion of the game goes ... The graphics and music were great, The new battle system is a lot of fun, I'm glad they brought back the "hunt" system from FF12, and they showed some real creativity with the environments they made (though ch. 13 reminded me a lot of the end of FFX). However, I do have a number of complains about it too:

- Far too much grinding with nodes for characters *main* jobs going up to 60,000 CP (I'll play ffxi if I wanna grind :p)
- Extremely linear until ch.11 and even then there wasn't much to do
- Some of the characters I just found annoying .. mostly Snow and Szah, and to a lesser extent Vanielle
- So far gil is hard to come by, I'll have to try killing adamantoises next time I play
- I wasn't very impressed with the end, TBH (last bosses + ending sequences)

Despite those and some other smaller problems I had with the game, I've enjoyed it a lot and will probably do another playthrough at some point.

I dont like the story. I dont like the characters besides Fang and Lightning. I hate how linear the game is. As fun as the battle system is i think it leaves alot of auto attack feeling and is lacking a large amount. I will forget the game once i am done grinding.

That being said i am a completionist for the most part and need to grind this game to 1000GS. I am enjoying the grind alot also, i dunno why but i am.

This is what I don't get, but on a broader scale. Despite having a number of complains about the game (I could probably list another five in addition to the above ones) I still enjoy it.

I like it and the characters. My least favorite is Hope, but at least he's getting better.

I've now tried killing the adamantoises out on the plains using the death strategy, but the fail rate is very high.... so far only one down

if your on the lower end of the hp spectrum are you using the Sab/Sen/Med setup, that kept me alive thanks to that one ability that SEN's have that reduces aoe damage.

I honestly don't mind the linear aspects at all in the game. I understand that it is a game fully focused on story, so I feel "full" for the lack of a better word while playing this game.

At Oerba now, I was expecting it to be bigger. :(

I am not sure where you are character development wise. I am gonna say if you are just finished with each characters 3 main jobs then i suggest just hitting retry from the start menu if the turtle stands up. I went with that in the begining and it made the low death proc decent.. Another SAB and SYN in the pt help with deaths proc rate also with their buffs and debuffs. I am gonna say once Vanilles magic is over 2500 with Debuff weapon the proc rate is higher for death, by then you can zerg them though lol.

Character development is a little past the middle of completing the final stage for their three main roles. I decided not to focus on one role and boost HP as much as I could, so I distributed the CP evenly. I'll try and bring another SAB into the party and see where that takes me. For now, I have a paper to write - .-

I'm actually enjoying the game now. Only problem is that it starts out so slowly. Chapter 9 on I love it, but I will probably never play the game from the beginning again. You have a battle system made for 3 people, that you're forced to use with 2 for a long time.

I love the battle system I just wish you could control any player, and that your game didn't end with the death of the leader. I also wish you could control where the players went on the battle field kind of like SO4.

I'm doing the higher tier missions now, just finished the final boss of the Titan Missions, was a hell of a fight, and now with the drop Fang is just a beast, well more than she was lol.

About 39% done with the missions, but I still have three stars on three of them. Once I hit the tower missions again, I'm gonna go back and redo mission 3 for a higher ranking.

Just left Oreba and heading to Eden. Super sweet cutscene. I'm hoping to finish the game this week.

I got the Limit Breaker achievement with Alexander's Gestalt finisher. Didn't even realize it until the little trophy notification popped up.
Got a five-star rating on Neochu thanks to the Death thing, now I'm gonna head back to the plains to grind on some Adamantoise with the exp booster item.
Quick question, though: if I equip accessories like collector's catalog on my party members but not my leader, do I still get the effect of the accessory? What about the item that always fills up the TP gauge a bit?

You get item drop up effect from anyone. Not sure about TP, haven't tested.

Finally got to chapter 11, going through some of the Cie'Th Stone missions, and, to be honest, it's rather good. That said though, it's only raised the bar for me a small amount. So far through playing this, I feel as though as I've been too harsh on FFXII.
