Final Fantasy 13 Hype Thread (the 2nd)

Definitely lol.

Just to add this in, if I remember correctly, the ages go like:

Lightning: 21
Snow: 21
Hope: 14
Vanille: 19
Sazh: 40?
Serah: 18

There's more I want to add but I want to avoid any possible spoilers.

Vanielle 19? I think not. Maybe that's the official description you found somewhere, but really it's like she's 16 at best.

@ Airou: Nice, don't let the (initial) linear nature of the game throw you off though ^^

My HD cable kind of fried at the back of my PS3 and my PS3 has been freezing quite a bit lately. My own fault, but can't play until I get a new one.

I'm just grinding with the growth egg on floor 5 of the tower until I get 3/6 on the crystarium.

I actually dont mind the linear-ness, I know that was a big gripe, but it sort of gives me a sense of direction and so far its been fulfilling. Im really enjoying it so i can only imagine what its going to be like once im past that part

Just getting to the see the amazing cutscene sequences is enough to get me going to the next part really.

That's cool. The parts I had to play with characters that I didn't like at all really got under my skin. I think the one time I kinda liked Szah was during his dialogue with the jumbo cactuar, but that may just because I was cracking up at the cactuar, and not him.

Thats true, I didnt like it when i was stuck with Sazh and Vanille, that was a crappy combo

Exactly the part I was thinking about lol

How do you guys go about deciding on weapons? I upgraded the Blazefire Saber to lv 10 then i come across an Edged Carbine, of course my Lv10 weapon is better but is it worth dumping and upgrading the Carbine? Did you guys switch weapons and restart your upgrades or did you stick with one throughout the game?

I stuck with what I basically had from the start and somewhat leveled them until I got to the end. Then I started leveling other weapons up because they had more interesting side stats or they seemed better suited for the character.

I honestly don't think the turn 1 trap into 3 is price efficient if you are going for 100% trophies. With the amount of money you need its better to just farm traps and platinum ingots simultaneously. If you aren't worried about 100% and don't have very good luck with traps though, then it might be good to just get your ultimate weapons with the trap trick.

What trophies are you worried about? Do you mean Treasure Hunter? Wouldn't it be easier since the money you get can just go towards upgrading equipment instead then 6 individual weapons?

It's like 10+ million gil for treasure hunter trophy.
If you do the get 1 trap as drop and use to upgrade then dismantle for 3, you likely won't have nearly enough gil to upgrade everything needed for the trophy.
You still have to take one of each characters weapons to max (and all others to tier 2), but by the time you get 6 traps as drops you should have a nice chunk of gil towards treasure hunter trophy.

Well I finally got a trap to drop, so I'm going to go ahead and upgrade Fangs weapon and dismantle it once I level it up. I understand the amount of cost to upgrade each weapon over again, but there's no way in hell these traps will drop 5 more times.

By the way, with the death trick I use SAB SAB RAV until it's staggered then SABx3 (manually using Imperil since Fang won't cast it) to hold 6 debuffs on it. It's like a 8-11% chance of death landing I calculate and they fall much easier with this method.

Farming the adamantoises would in theory get you a lot of money at the six traps you need for treasure hunter. In building a weapon and then dismantling it, you're putting money into something you could essentially get for free ... money that will no doubt be needed for equipment upgrades.

Not just the weapons themselves that cost money to upgrade, some accessories need dark matters, adamantite which are expensive as well.
And the exp components, which you'll be using anyways to level all weapons to tier 2 and one for each character to tier 3.
You'll be better off in the long run if you're going for treasure hunter trophy to just get the rest of the traps as drops, as you will need the gil from all the ingots you get.
You don't have to * everything, just get one of every weapon/accessory.

I explained earlier it doesnt work that way for everyone. I now only need 2 more Dark Matter and will have this achievement. In the period of all this gil farming i have now had only 3 Traps drop. There is no way farming Traps while farming gil is more convenient then just breaking down a final weapon for 3 Traps for me.

That sucks :/

Are you buying your dark matters or farming them from shaolong guis?

I have payed for them so far. I do the Adamantortoise runs though. May take slightly longer then Eden Adamantoise but i also get a guaranteed 60k from the gold item.

I got enough traps now for the ultimate weapons and am working on some marks.

That giant cactus with the 10k needles is a bitch, but apparently there's a trick with Sazh to take him out that I'm going to try.

I'm pretty much 5/6 on the crystarium for everyone too with all the damn hunting I did for Traps/ingots.

That Sazh thing didn't work for me despite following the directions exactly. I got a super easy win by simply casting daze on him, buffing up as much as I possibly could, and then unleashing on his ass ... don't remember what paradigm probably COM RAV RAV or COM COM RAV. He went down nice and quick.

I just went COM COM COM with everyone having the instant chain synthesized ability. Waited for that to pop up and raped him. Fight lasted about 13 seconds when I got lucky with the chain happening fast.
