Final Fantasy IV DS Official Thread:

Happy Birthday man!

Btw, it's out today. I'm going to try Toy's 'R Us.

Today's the shipping date, most stores won't have it in til tomorrow, I've already tried my local Gamestop where I have it reserved lol, no luck til tomorrow.

HAHKJSHDKDJSAF

I cannot wait for this game. I leave Wed back home to Indy, so HOPEFULLY during my boring 3 hour flight to the Twin Cities that I can play FFIV :D!!

Awwww crap. I just experianced this for myself and then read this. The thing is, that has never happend to me before. I always recall getting games the day they released. It must have been dumb luck? I got FFXII the day it was released at EB Games but when I called them just now, they said it takes an extra day to get shiped to Canada.

Booo

Some games that are High Profile you can get them early, or on the launch day. Working at EBGames for almost 4 years it's how some of it worked. Tuesday was always release day unless it was a high profile game like Madden, the newest Final Fantasy (not a remake), Grand Theft, Halo...

It stunk because I wanted to so bad play some of the new games that we had sitting in the stockroom :)

That happened for Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2 (looking back I could have waited for 10-2 :).. and prolly still could have waited....bleah)

I got a call from GameStop last night and just got back from picking it up on my lunch break. I've only played through the very first opening bit -- I haven't even left the castle -- but the translation is very good so far. I think it's going to be better than the FF4 GBA translation.

I'm very impressed with it, and I look forward to sinking a lot of time into this one.

I'll be picking mine up in a little over 4 hours, gotta do a lot of crap around house first.

Well the Wal-Mart near me doesnt have it :( Makes me sad. I checked Best Buy and the nearest one is..pretty far..and I don't know how to get there lol

Looks like I'll have to wait til I go back to Indy to buy it ;_;

Got my copy, already started updating my faq with the translated names and crap.

I'll pick it up this weekend when I get some money.

It's a little more difficult than expected, and I actually had to do a little grinding to buy potions and assorted items before taking on the Mist Dragon.

It's also playing better since I bumped up the battle speed. The default setting is agonizingly slooooooooow.

Yeah, I also had to bump up the battle speed to really get into it. LOL at Namingway being changed now, I was always wondering about that since now there's voice acting. I'm also at the Mist Dragon, I can't wait to see some of the changes they made to the bosses, espicially Rubicant.

Here's hoping SE will do a Final Fantasy VI remake on DS in the future./

They weren't planning on doing IV but since III sold so well they decided on it. I'm sure if IV sells well enough they'll do V, and if that sells well enough they'd do VI, which I hope they do.
I'd kill for a remake of V over VI honestly, I love jobs systems, and V's is much more refined than III's, plus Gilgamesh kicks all kind of ass. Though I'd love VI as well.

Though yeah I haven't played much, only at Kaipo at the moment, I tried farming goblin and cockatrice summons like I always do, but yeah my luck is horrible, I'm gonna wait until
Spoiler:
I finish the last map and get treasure hunter augment

Gilgamesh kicks all kind of ass.

I've been meaning to ask, what is the deal with Gilgamesh? I barely played FFV since something always distracted me, but everyone who's played it always mentions him, what, is he like a joke character or does he do something epic in the game. Go ahead, spoil it, chances are I'll never get around to it.

Comic relief villian turned good guy pretty much, like Ultros in FFVI, and he even
Spoiler:
sacrifices himself for your party on Necrophobe in the final dungeon if you kill the barriers and keep Necrophohobes HP low but don't kill him
and it's generally believed it's the same Gilgamesh just traveling across dimensions in FFV, FFVIII, FFIX, and FFXII.

Plus stealing genji equipment, and "Clash on the Big Bridge" (or Battle on the Big Bridge) rocks.

By the way I fucking love auto-battle, now for grinding I just turn my sound down, and run around with the directional pad not really paying attention, and if I need Cure just access it from the menu.

I don't use it though when I'm just going through a dungeon, and I sure as hell won't use it in the final dungeon, I hear those red and blue dragons are boss caliber, or use it on bosses for obvious reasons, but for grinding it is great.

ProTip: Generous use of Berserk, Hold, and Stop make those dragons weaksauce.

Yeah I still got a long while to go, only at the Underground Waterway, thanks for the advice :)

Edit: Sooo how would I go about getting Dash_Jr and his alts (Angrydore, etc) banned? He causes a lot of problems in the majority of the boards I frequent, and several others as well. Though I have learned to ignore him long ago, just the fact he's lasted this long.

He knows how to be annoying without actually violating a rule. It's unfortunate but not much can be done. I've removed most of his trolling game reviews and pretty much reject any new ones he submits now, at least.
