Final Fantasy XIV

I haven't seen a single crab yet... AWESOME! Hopefully the trailer showing a group fighting multiple enemies means more group fighting during normal exp instead of pull one, kill, pull another, kill, pull and link, sleep one while killing the other, etc.

Doesnt FFXI's CGI video show people have battles with more than 1 enemy at the same time? I wouldn't take anything that doesn't show gameplay in the trailer to mean anything for the actual gameplay :P

Time will tell for this, I'll have to keep my eye on it, as it does look good. (and shiny)

I am quite pleased to see Nobuo Uematsu listed in the "Main Staff" for Music ^_^ He is a god.

Promyvion if I ever saw it. Those look identical to the empty:

Looks like a pack of wanderers and cravers attacking an airship, with some really big badass looking empty flying around owning stuff.

Hmmmm

Really excited about this. Now I have to save for a PS3 within the next year for this. Hope the wife is okay with that =/

Mmm except that picture is from a battle on a ship in the middle of a rainstorm :|

Seeing how nobody at QCDN works at SE I don't think we'll ever know the answer to this for sure.

Already a couple threads about it, people are assuming as much.

Well when FF14 comes out and theres never anything heard about Rapture again I think it'll be pretty obvious..

And the resemblance is only superficial.

In short: You're reaching.

It's not Vana'diel, though it appears to have the same rough racial groups thus far. We'll know more in the months to come, rampant speculation based off of a single trailer is an utter waste of time.

The Rapture screenshots showed a viera and XII style moogle, were those just for the developing stage?

I was hoping the next FF mmo would be something different, oh well

*throws wallet to SE* I'm not joking *sigh*

Word. They got me for 5+ years now, what's another 5% of my life (if I'm lucky)

Hopefully FFXIV is a clean slate in terms of learned rules and whatnot. I'd like to join this new MMO when it comes out, and I'd like to do so as a blm. I'd prefer not to carry the baggage of FFXI mages. I wonder if they'll include utsusemi in this game? It was so controversial in the last one, and I often got the feeling it caused them more grief than anything.

I do hope they change it up a lot. Honestly if the battle system is the same, tp, target lock, etc, I might not enjoy it. I'd like something new, different, maybe, if it's possible...

Random encounters? Potions that stack to 99 again? I was always a fan of the gain points as you skill up and spend them on skills style of game, like meriting but you start at level 1, giving you a much wider control of customizing your character. I'd love to see this in ff14

If it has dancer, I know exactly what I'm taking to the cap first :D

And it does appear to, most excellent.

I have a feeling this one's gonna have a bit of a casual touch to it and some WoW elements.

I'll for sure be buying this and at least trying it out. Odds are I'll stick around for a while.

2018: God damn these PS3 limitations. They should just port it to the PS4 already.

How did this thread make it to 10 pages without yet being moved to the right forum?

Probably because it's debatable.

We don't really need to own a PS3 in order to play this game. Although I'd gamble the PS3 version will express the up most optimal performance making it the more definitive version.

All that aside, FFXIV will generate so much questions and curiosity from our FFXI community, it may "potentially" need it's own forum to house all the rumors, news, and other updates that are sure to come in the coming months. Then again that may or may not be the case.

256 megs of memory on the GPU in the PC is the only clear spec at this point in time.

In the trailer, the part where they are flying in that dog fight, judging by the quick dissolve of the smoke particles, I'd reckon that is running off the hardware.

The close ups of the Hume looks software rendered, but it might not be, and the magic casting and the hack and slash scenes don't seem to push new limits other than nice artwork compared to some of the other cuts in the edit.

Still it wouldn't be surprising if all what we see there is what we'll really get. For a vast number of us, it would be cheaper to get a PS3 instead of obtaining a new PC that can run something like that without crashing.

So who's gonna be playing FFXIV when it comes out? :P

I only knew about it for a few hours and already I'm trying hard to avoid it. I'm going to keep my life this time.

If I do play (and I probably will), I'm not going to try to keep up with anyone no matter how fond I grow of someone, and I'm not going to be static or dedicated to any group in any way that requires me to follow a routine schedule that takes months or years to complete. (My weaker side hopes there is Red Mage.)
