Final Fantasy XIV

Yay, Dragoon/Lancer/Dragon Knight class confirmed, DRG has always been one of my favorites, and FFXI was the only FF that had them with wyverns, as long as they can jump on shit I'm happy.

Yeah DRG is an awesome job, I'm glad to see some iteration of it in FFXIV

Those raptors look exactly like the FFXI ones.

Yeah, seems like they gonna re-use some of the character models for mobs, which i dont think is too bad of an idea, dunno about the rest of ya tho.....

I'm still waiting for my Mimic.

And I hope they add nunchuks and whips =(

apparently SE thinks any change too drastic will cause ffxi players to die of shock so they're reusing as much as they can

To be honest, it's hardly unusual to see the same basic (or even exact same) monster design repeated in a FF game.

not all the mobs have been change just adjustments to the graphic some others have been change the design completely just wait till u see some of the bosses i cant post pics or say to much but the game so far as i have test it its really amaizing and the transfer between areas are way by far better then the ffxi hope u all enjoy it when the actual game comes out so u ppl can play it i dont think i have to add the jp site of ffxiv think some of u have seen it so far more info will be release in nov first 2 weeks and december the big boom :) have fun guys

. . .

Those are what your post was missing.

Yes, we are reasonably excited about the game. It's to be expected, of course, since pretty much everyone here is or was a fan of FF games at one point.

Hell, people freaked when they saw the Mandragora models in FFXII. They don't know that Mandragoras themselves have been showing up in Final Fantasy since VII, albeit in different forms, and there's a sprite somewhere in VI that looks like a Mandragora.
I personally can't wait to be outrun by a Raptor and mowed down without any help. This time's different, though. In a Guildleve, no one can hear you scream.

Exactly. This site is a FFXI site so its only natural that people here are going to be excited about FFXIV.

I wanna get into a beta or there better be a 14 day trial (where you don't have to buy the game, WoW's idea with that was a very good one) else I'm prolly not gonna play it :P I don't care too much about MMOs and without trying it first I don't wanna play it.

I've read in more places than one that there will be a global public beta eventually. Besides, even if there isn't, makin' a demand of "there better be a-" doesn't matter. SE made it perfectly clear with a good portion of FFXI that they don't need -our- money.

Alchemist has also been revealed as one of the classes in the Disciples of Hand, as well as Culinarian :p

Wonder if Alchemist will be able to replace a White Mage, assuming they can create temp-potions to throw at their party members... And wonder if Culinarians will be able to play the role of a semi-bard by "feeding" their members thus providing them with various stat boosts. Perhaps in that way Blacksmiths could sort of "improve" party members weapons and make them do more damage, as well as temporarily "enchant" them to give them a certain ailment, thus boosting damage further, while Weavers could enchant party member's armors and thus provide them with various stat boosts, such as a small Auto Regen or small Auto Refresh? As such, perhaps a tanner could place "traps" to enfeeble an enemy, while a woodworker could supply an archer with unlimited arrows?

Perhaps there won't be a "bard" job, but instead the disciples of hand and land act as buff jobs by enhancing various aspects, as mentioned above. That would certainly make them somewhat useful in parties. With a heavily melee-based party you might favor a Blacksmith over a Weaver, for example.

To explain a bit better what I mean;

Weaver - Weaves enchants on armor.
Blacksmith - Strengthens weapon. "Forges" them.
Culinary - Stat boosts through gourmet food
Tanner - Enfeebles enemies through traps.
Alchemist - Healing through potions.

No idea what Botanist etc. would do though...

Wouldn't it be awesome if, say, high-level weavers and blacksmiths could permanently give armor and weapons a minor enhancement?

I know :P but it'll be my money they don't get if I don't get to try before I pay.

Seriously, WHY HAVEN'T other pay to play MMOs learned yet to give the player a week or two of fee play like WoW? That's prolly one of the big reasons it took off (well ya it's a fun game but it got people addicted and then they wanted to play). Do all these other MMOs realize their game sucks and to get at least 1 month of pay from everyone they can instead of showing their fail off to others? XD cause I don't think all of em are that bad really :P or their failure can't be seen in 1-2 weeks time anyways.

Oh, and there better be a red mage :( Red Mage, Paladin and Dragoon has always been my favorite classes :P too bad I hate leveling so much I never got my DRG or PLD up too high :( I should play FFXI again hmm, I need a job ><

:P The first month :p 12$ fee is really a game breaker for :p me when I :p buy MMOs. :p :p :P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P

Enough stupid faces yet?

Because RMT tend to exploit this system.
Also, what a terrible recordkeeper, to have lost all the codices save for two.
The music reminds me of recent Ivalice games, too.

I can't think of any MMO game I have ever played that didn't have an open beta or very open "closed beta" at some point. You just have to pay attention.

I get the feeling you're talking about the demo though and all games should provide a demo, not a beta experience. I'll remind you that WoW didn't always offer the 14-day trial. I vaguely remember a Friend Pass in my boxes but that still required an initial purchase.

Beta probably weeds out enough people as it is. Until they can gather millions upon millions of customers it's safer to keep their "testing" play-base to a minimal.

Uh.. Ele.. dunno what planet you've been living on but every single pay-to-play mmo I've played have always had the first month free. This is generally standard practice so that people can get a feel for the game even if they aren't sure they want to stick with it.

And I've played my fair share of different mmo's. Not one of them didn't have the first month (aka. 30 days) free. Shadowbane, FFXI, City of Heroes, DDO (before it went completely F2P), not to mention newcomers like Aion. Why the hell is everything compared to WoW when WoW sure as hell wasn't the first MMO and didn't start anything new. Raids, Instances.. hell everything about WoW has been done before. It's a pretty standard mmo, really. Looks shitty as hell, but standard. Stuff just works on WoW I guess. I also guess it has enough fanboys and fangirls to sustain it's rather unspectacular life a good while longer.

retard, it's still 50+ bucks for the game + 12+ bucks for the month, 62+ bucks for the first month to find out I don't wanna play it? Stupid stupid stuff. WoW you can download and play for free for 14 days when you create your account, don't be an asshole >.> and an ignorant one at that.

And yes I know most MMOs the first month is free but YOU STILL HAVE TO BUY THE GOD DAMN GAME, again, WoW's the only one I can think of where AFTER release you could download the game for free and play up to level 20 (iirc) and had 14 weeks to try out all you could, it's a GOOD idea. RMT can be delt with in other ways.
