I really don't think charging people to view the flameboard would fix anything. It'd probably get some donations, but in the end probably just lose a few more members. I'm not too keen on the idea of getting rid of it on the front page, however I'm really thinking giving the user the ability to choose whether or not they see it is the best idea. I promise that I will find the motivation to get things running again. There are a few things that need to be calmed down first.

On one hand, I would really like all the users of this board to feel comfortable coming here, yet on the other I'm doing my best to not become a care bear and start making the mistakes that Sculli did. However, when I log on and see items like

and snotty remarks from people who think there are things wrong instead of seeing suggestions, such as this OP, that need addressing...it becomes difficult. Just a little divulge into the amount of things that go through my head on a given day. <_<; Sorry. ^^'

Also, Reeve still very much owns and pays for this site. I have been very happy to do my best to manage it for him and am proud to work with him. Most people do not see it, but he is a very large support center for me in my position.

I made the thread before I got here, yay!

My comments were meant to be more satirical than "snotty", but I can see your point, and I'm ok with it. My point with the sig image, and a recent rant in a previous thread in the Feedback forum, is that I find the recent crackdowns on this site to be waaay over the top. Threadcrapping? That's half of what the Flameboard was founded on. Ditching the rep system because some people couldn't handle negative feedback? Spare me. Pleas for the Visitor messages to be removed because the same people now can't handle a confrontation on there either. Yeah, you get my point.

My breaking point was in a thread in, of all things, Fan Works, where Iso (as much as I enjoy her posting), left a message in Kayleen's thread about "PC+1 posts being deleted". Make deleted multiple posts on the FB the other day that were admittedly, off topic, but was it really worth the effort? Is QCDN a better site without those few posts?

Every time someone posts something that I like, I'm gonna reply with a simple "Haha". Then we'll see how far the PC+1 or threadcrapping or whatever the cool kids are calling it these days crackdown is holding up. It's an internet site about a video game, not some wacky dictatorship where people in power go out gallivanting with their banhammers and delete buttons waving.

This obviously has nothing to do with the topic at hand though, sadly. I won't make a smart-ass comment about it probably getting deleted though.

If I could agree with this anymore my head would explode. I wouldn't mind it being put into a Usergroup, but I don't think the Flameboard needs to be really. Just ignore it if it's bugging you so much. Maybe have modmins put in a ignore thread/topic section?

posts similar to what you are doing in my VM are reasons why the mods are handling things like they are now. I honestly think that if people can't control what they say on certain areas like the VM, which isn't supposed to be filled with argument, then maybe the mods should take it away. There are certain areas of this board that were added on to give members a bit more to do, I.E. the VMs the rate up system the chat box... abuse them and the mods have every right to take them away.

Get pissed off by the people that can't be grown up enough to use things that are meant to be fun. Instead of doing what its used for, people are using certain tools like the rep system and VMs for abusing and harassing other members. If wasn't just "negative feedback." That would entail things like "I disagree with you." Instead we get reports all the time about rate down spamming and particular comments that are FAR fucking off color from what the rep system should be used for.

Its not like the rep system was real serious anyway. Hardly anyone used it to rate up for quality and rate down for misinformation. I'm not gonna lie. I'm one of those people that didn't. In fact, I think I gave you rate ups just for liking hockey before, didn't I? Anytime there was a rate down it was for the reason that someone just wanted to get at someone because they couldn't stand them. Most people got rated up for rate up circles for for posts that were just funny. If I wanted to get about 300 rep in one day, all I ever had to do was to call Jyakotsu every name possible in the book. Those aren't original, insightful posts or anything, its just me being an asshole to someone that a lot of people don't like. Its backwards when you think about it, lol.

But really, when it gets time to decide who gets to use the rep system and who can't use the rep system... when its that big of a problem, it comes down to does it stay or does it just go? I think Miros took the appropriate course of action and there are similar types of things that are being looked into for the site to replace the rep system.

Everything thats been deleted on the FB has been posts that do nothing for the flame. Threadcrapping ruined flames and dragged them on until the end of time. If you all really want, I can repost in one giant thread all the posts that Make, Miros and myself have deleted. I guarantee you will just feel like your IQ lowered by reading them. As far as Kayleen goes, that problem as far as I could tell wasn't with her. It was with her group of regulars doing into derailed crap about grabbing boobs and stuff like that. Kayleen and I don't get along, but I'll be the first to say her art is phenomenal and I actually enjoy looking at it. I don't recall Iso saying anything that you can't talk about art or post it or anything. Stupid mindless banter in Fan Works though.. eh. Should be more art and art discussion than off topic crap.

This is probably the smartest thing Jyak has ever said. (No offense) Seriously, out of all you guys, one of the biggest public enemies on the site is the one that gets it? lol What he said is true. All these things ARE added so that people can have more fun with the site. Some of it I think is unnecessary, but users do enjoy it. When enough people want to abuse these types of functions, then it becomes a lot more work that it really should be and it isn't worth it any longer.

All of my rate ups/downs were. I never got rate ups like "hi" or "just cause" or shit like that, it was because I posted something that was fairly decent. And most of the time I got several rate ups from one post. And I can honestly tell you I never rated anyone up just cause and if I rated you down (happened very little, I probably did like 5 total) you really deserved it. Now I'm not saying it wasn't abused because it clearly was, just in my experience with it all was good.

Also you have to pm me when i DON'T move something, not when i do.

Oh and LOL @ jyak having any say on abuse of vms/rate ups. Thats a good one.

I can see your view about the flameboard. However many of the decent flames usually get derailed by users constantly spamming PC+1s that ultimately mean nothing to the flame. I'd rather see "So and so is stupid because <good reason here>" instead of "you're an idiot."

Ditching the reputation system was something that should have happened a while ago. It was degrading so much. People were using it to flamebait without getting reprimanded. Seeing rep comments like "You're a fat ++++" or "Go back to working on your cotton farm you ++++++" and even just the basic stuff even like "Go die in a fire" are not so kosher in my eyes. And before you recommend that I truly punish everyone who has done that...well...everyone has done something like that at one point.

And you tell me one time in this thread where I said that I have the decision on what is abuse on VM's and Rate ups. In the end it is the Admins that make decisions like this.

I agree with this mostly, I don't believe in moving the FB either. It does suprise me sometimes how much people allow their emotions to be controlled with such simple accessories in comparison to the other things in life. But some extreme examples of abuse such as jyak vs. zer warranted for this, granted I'm not sure why abuse like that is managed singularly but if stuff like that is done a much larger scale then things such as the rep system should be removed.

Many people do have a bad impression of this site because of the FB but if they can't care to understand how or why that is then they probrably wouldn't be welcome here anyways(like those people who make those first posts full of crap). This isn't me looking down on post count but on stupidity(possibly ignorance).


As far as the kay thread went, it was a little uncalled for a lot of the job discussion threads have flamebaits on them but they aren't modded whereas the random pc+1 posts aren't even intentionally derogatory. The flamebait posts vs the pc+1 is a pot and kettle situation to me as both should be modded. For the FB it makes sense that the posts are moderated.

I'll post those threads when i get home or maybe now depends on how fast internet is. If you want to keep threads clean then make it universal or at least a universal attempt instead of picking off flies in the smaller forums. Just doing certain forums sans the FB or just fan works is just a half ass attempt in my opinion in keeping a cleaner site or area.

I agree with that and it is something that we're working on. For now though, anything that really sticks out, we urge people to use the report function to bring things to our attention and until we can have regular moderation on those areas; in whatever way we determined is best suited; we'll work on keeping them clean through that process for the time being.
