Sounds cool you know with Magic Attack Bonus +4 and Conserve MP +4 but would you choose this over the elemental staffs? Is +4 Atk Bonus comparable to the +10% dmg that the staffs give? What do you guys think?

No, but they're worth it considering idiots buy them for like 100k

100k, are you serious? TIME TO DUMP SOME ALLIED NOTES

Elemental Staves > This

Edit:

Btw I personally would rather save my AN then to spend 20k of it for 100k. I sold a 3k item for 100k on the AH, but thats a different story =P

The Fourth Division Mace is basically a -1 version of the Seveneyes from Khimaira. Not used very often and obviously not for nuking. The primary use for this would be the Conserve MP trait. RDM can equip both. I'm sure they can see a use for it casting a haste/refresh/other buff cycle. SCH can equip the mace which means less MP spent on storm spells.

Elemental Staves basically = 10MAB/15MAB on respective nukes. Obviously 10/15MAB > 4 MAB

ahh a good answer

Thanks for a legit answer not just "omfg this is a piece of shit"

and then I saw this

In other words it's the -1 version of a piece a shit that khimera drops. Simple math tell you that conserve mp +7 saves ~ 9 mps / 10 minutes on haste. You get this MP in like 3 sec ....

and now I am like not only is this thread a piece of shit so is this mace.

And simple playing the game right tells you that haste isn't the only spell you're casting in the game. And considering a "tick" is 3 seconds, the only way you're pulling 9 MP in that time is if you're party is loaded up on refreshers.

Balladx2 refresh sanction duelist chapeau +1 morrigan robe = 9 mp / tick

What are those awesome spells except haste that you are using with this crap weapon ? I'm interested

And you just proved me right in the fact that you're only going to get that with a party loaded up with refresh.

Dia, Bio, En-, bar-, -na(6 sub,) erase, sneak/invisible/deodorize, blink, stoneskin, phalanx, spikes, aquaveil, protect, shell, regen, refresh and (re)raise.

Surely you use those, with the exception of aquaveil.

Unless you think staves boost something on everything, Seveneyes/Fourth Div. Mace are useful in place of them on a lot more than you believe. But given your history, I'd be willing to bet you actually do.

The only thing he mentioned that isn't from RDM initially, is ballad. And how many merit parties are there without a BRD? So 9/tick is quite natural to get. Although I suppose every RDM don't have Dalmatica/Morrigan's Robe and Duelist's Chapeau (+1)

However, Phalanx you don't use a lot in merit parties/exp parties, neither do you use spikes. Protect and Shell you use, yes, and Raise too. However, people shouldn't be dying (but yes, it is useful when they do), and Proteect/Shell you use every 30 min. Bio you don't use a lot in merits/exp parties, as Dia is usually more useful. En-spells you shouldn't use as you shouldn't be meleeing, and -na's are rather cheap anyway. You'll usually save 2 MP at the most from them.

Naturally, all of this stacks up, but I doubt it'll be the difference between having having MP left when you convert, and having 1 min left on convert timer when you're out of MP. Personally I find them way more useful on WHM then on RDM. I'm assuming he's asking for it on either RDM and BLM. On BLM, the only occasion you'll use it on is Escape, Warp, Warp II and Stoneskin really, so I wouldn't recommend picking one up.

Theres more to the game than exping, you know. And considering Fourth Division Mace is practically free, why not grab one? An item with utility like that does find itself useful when needed.

Yes, for RDM the use is diminished. For WHM and SCH, it's pretty damn good when you add things up. SCH moreso than WHM, with those abilities that double cost, Conserve MP kicking in more is extremely helpful.

Those spell are never used are cost a ridiculous amount of mps. Only dia and Erase would be worth using. If you pull 100 mob/hour you will save 52 mp in one hour with dia II, as for erase ... assuming you use it once every 2 minutes that's another 10 mps saved in one hour.

total saved on average = 22 mps per 10 minutes. lol.

I'm sure you own a Fire/Vulcan Staff, how often do you use Fire III?

I'd be willing to bet a lot less than any of the 45 or so different spells these clubs would be better than staves on.

Shit, I forgot Scholar's weather spells, theres another 8. 53 or so. Are helix spells affected by their related staff? Not sure about that.

This is also not including lower tier versions of Raise, which do see use even after you've got III. Also, not going to go through and list all the pacts, since staves are useless on those as well.

Discrediting the usefulness of an item simply because one listed job doesn't get as much out of it than others is retarded. (OMFG Haubergeon/Hauberk sucks since WAR/DRK/BST get better)

Hey guys, seems I know more about mages in general than Pchan. How sad, considering I don't level them beyond useful sub levels.

You didn't understand my point ... It's not that it's not useful, it's that the improvement is extremly weak. You are speaking of raise ... on R1 you will save ~37 mp every 7% of raise. Do you even cast raise 100 times during one month. If you want a monk analogy this weapon is as usefull as as the added lightning dmg on Indra Katars.

You're still looking at it from the perspective of it only kicking in if you cast a single specific spell a hundred times. You're an idiot, move on, please.
