Again, gonna chime in here with the "other side"...

I play Drk/Nin. HOWEVER, I also have 8 Sword Merits, and I think currently at 63 my Sword is still Higher than my Scythe as far as skill points are concerned. At 75 my sword will be 263, not a far cry from 269 which is the cap on G.Sword at an A- rating. And the difference is only a 4.7% difference in Accuracy vs. a Scythe (276 A+) which can be more than compensated for by a few pieces of gear.

Your thinking is a little flawed. You're comparing a merited sword to an unmerited Scythe/Great Sword when you should be comparing to other meritted weapons for the sake of this argument. In your case, you already have merited sword and a Ridill, but 99% of all players do not. The gap between sword and scythe is still just as huge at 75 and a properly merited DRK will only widen the gap. I know you're going to call me an idiot since your whole post was about you, but you provided absolutely nothing useful to this discussion beyond "look at me and my ridill".

This was flaming? Seriously, you need to recheck your thinking. I have seen far worse over far little and not a thing was said by anyone including a moderator. The ONLY reason you made a point to say anything to me was because Phraust is your friend.

ahhh, yes, the "discrete" reply to the PM in the other forum later on, instead of being able to say it to my face in a reply to the PM, which you decided not to do. nice.

well, you were flaming. ive told other people to stop flaming, not just you, so dont feel special. ive even told people to stop flaming blazn. so what?

you were criticizing someone who was providing a useful aspect of the discussion that no one had touched. so what you dont have a ridill? i dont have one either. several people dont. but some people who like to try new combinations and other things, it may provide an aspect worth looking at.

and as far as "mod privelege friends", whatever. ive pissed friends off on here.... so, it doesnt matter who said it.

people have said plenty of things that i thought were gimp, and about 90% of the time i ignore it, unless its just plain horrible.

So what? Obviously 99% of all players do not have a ridill and would not make use of 8 sword merits. Very few (PLDs mainly) would bother getting sword merits since they don't do much for any job UNLESS they have a ridill. Now why would anyone suggest to someone to use a sword in experience when they know full well they have no ridill nor sword merits? It's just then boils down to a A+ (Scythe) versus B- (Sword) weapon argument. The information he provided would have been useful to anyone who could make use of it, in other words ridill users. Again, he SHOULD know no one besides himself and a small handful of QCDN posters have one making it another "look at me" post. His post was thus thoroughly useless and misleading.

Bolded: The information provided was only useful to ridill owners which was the problem. Phraust was suggesting for a DRK at level 63 to use sword when it's obvious many would not have the merits for it or perhaps he was suggesting getting merits to make use of it. Either way, the gap between a decent merited scythe user and a merited sword user is still there.

And I did reply to you within the thread and I am sure you ignored because the logic is the same as it is here. No normal player has those merits making it only relevant to those who do which in that small list of 5 people included Phraust. So basically, it was a post in which only he could make use of his own advice.

I don't recall anyone saying that a ridill was easy to get, and you obviously wouldn't use it until you would be able to equip it; none of that actually matters though. What I was addressing is you calling it inferior because it actually takes some effort to use it effectively, which is laughably wrong. When looking at the best gear you can work for, ridill pretty much tops the list.

Ignorance is bliss, I guess? Don't make it sound like I called a Ridill gimp, I did no such thing. What's gimp is telling a group of DRKs you know to have no ridill nor sword merits to use sword instead of scythe. Phraust was level 63 and although he has the sword merits which will make up for some of the loss in acc/att, he cannot make up for all of it. He has no access to a Ridill at that level which basically takes almost all reason out of using sword for DRK at least as far as EXP is concerned. Seriously, if you don't know what I was referring to then don't comment.

Meh.

First, at 63, my Sword is my Highest skill.

Second, at 75 on my thief with a D(merited to a C) skill in sword I still parse over 85% on average in Merit Pt's meaning to me the gap isn't too large to drop as an option. (go go e-peen!!! z0mg watch as it grows! not too closely, it might spooge on you o.x; )

Third, by your Logic, all jobs should not even bother listing weapon skill levels less than a 'A-'. God forbid anyone use a B- skill on anything...

I recently had Neo tell me I was flaming his buddy Phraust. I wasn't too happy about that BS, but I can't say it wasn't all that unexpected. His friend suggested using an inferior weapon as an alternative and the only reason it's viable for him was because of merits which obviously 99% of the server does not have making the suggestion almost pointless.
I confused the thread with another recent one asking about thf weapons, but regardless you're saying it's inferior; that's just politely calling it gimp.

You use sishi right? I doubt you can afford to use meat all too often.

Last paragraph: You miss the point... again. How many people have sword merits to make use of sword outside of any job besides warrior or PLD? Very few and almost exclusively all Ridill owners. Your post was useless to basically all users except those exclusive few. Now to make it worse, two players with exact same race, gear, stats, merits (cept weapon merits), etc., the person with sword merits will always fall behind because they have to make up for a gap that was pre-existing. You cannot make up for that gap, it's physically impossible. You can wear an E.Body to get more acc/att. They can wear an e.body too. You can merit sword, they can merit scythe. Etc. You can never surpass that point without doing one thing: obtaining a ridill. You

I called sword gimp... Now please just move along.

lavi-- you weren't providing anything to the conversation, and you were arguing with someone that actually HAD tested them.

stop trying to discredit people just because not everyone HAS what they have, whether it be sword merits, or other merits. maybe some DRK wants to merit sword now after they read it? maybe they can learn and do what they saw they liked? if you want everyone to be cookie cutter than just say it.

and on lavi vs phraust on opinions....
i'm sure everyone wants to hear the opinion of someone who actually hasn't tested it verse someone that parses and tests nearly everything they do.. phraust parses everything.. what level is your dark? what sword vs axe vs scythe testing have you done? actually for the record, what are your levels of your melee jobs? where are your parses or references? i'd find this interesting to know.

Dude I solo AV with my Sword Wielding 63 dark, man. You know that. I'm in fucking Kaizen bitch, it's how we roll!

More coffee......

"Hey guys, here is what I've tested and found works for me, but I also know that these will not work for 99% of people and are thoroughly useless to a majority of players"

That's his post. Not kidding in the slightest. What he posted may have been true, I have no reason to doubt it's validity in the slightest, BUT can you give me any reason as to how telling a DRK whom you have a very strong chance has no sword merits that using sword in experience parties is a good idea? Why would you tell any DRK to use sword over scythe when you know they don't have sword merits? Who was that advice really useful for? Answer:

Ah yes, the infamous QCDN thread derail. I believe we had a really big topic about drks using swords, no? Do we need to rehash it here? Probably not?

Oh right, back on topic. What would happen if I reposted the post that the besmirched dictator posted? I have never once signed anything with Kaizen saying I wouldn't post anything from their forum. Would it still be deleted? If so, then I'd have to say that's highly unfair to the people who were exposed in Chasym's topic. Many people have posted pictures of tell conversations they had with others without asking permission, isn't that the same thing I'd be doing?

I ask because I have the post saved. I'm not saying I'm gonna repost it, I just want to know if I'm going to be hypocritically told that I can't.

rappa; good question. alyada had deleted the thread before. the thing is, the OP of this discussion asked it to die, so, it would be going against his wish.

the other thread, was just pretty much out of control, in the fact that the OP never asked it to die, and in many cases, instigated it to continue and last even longer than it should have... he also posted his own sources, and own conversations, which did incriminate other people... however, it was his own sources, not something that was taken off a bulletin board from a seperate source on someone else's accord.

personally, i dont think it says anything that is groundbreaking or that important.. all it does is re-spark the conversation that Zalbag asked to die awhile ago.

No offense but aren't you the guy who took private messages from QCDN, put them on your linkshell messageboard and then had your leader return to QCDN citing them to flame me with? I mean... where does privacy end and stupidity begin? Maybe it's that was alright with the deletion... yanno, the deletion of the flame towards Zalbag?

aren't you the guy that made me ask them about it because you falsely accused people to which you apologized for this?

please.

It's not a question of right or wrong, rather a question of what's permitted to be shown on the flameboard or not. If you want to take the stance that privacy of information from other internet sources is supreme, then not only is privacy broken and not enforced until now... but you've broken it yourself.

"Since it seems that Nasya and myself are moderators of the FB, just a couple of reminders for the FB useage:

1. If there is any type of flame outside of here, it will be locked.

2. Also, use this board for game-related threads only. This board is NOT to be used to flame peoples real lives in any way, shape or form. If you do, the thread will be locked, removed, and you will be temp-banned. If it happens again, permanent-ban.

3. Any non-game related threads will be moved to their appropriate forum.

4. Necro'd threads will be locked.

5. Due to recent events, any flame that is carried out against a user who is unable to defend themselves due to a ban from QCDN, will be locked.

These guidelines will be enforced equally in the flameboard."

The point here is... the post that was deleted followed these rules. Other posts that you've been involved in or nobody has deleted were the same as the deleted post. You've broken rule number 1 regularly yourself, and it wasn't enforced.

Those 99% should work harder then. There's no reason more people can't make use of it. In fact thats the point when it comes down to it.... people should actually try.

Of course, Lavi has always jst liked arguing for the sake of arguing, so this is just par for the course. There's nothing new here.

Now, the problem faced here is Nasya asserted her partial judgement to remove a post she felt reflected poorly upon her shell and when the exact same scenario was faced upon OH, she didn't think twice about do anything. In fact, she asserts that those users don't have the same rights her Kaizen members do apparently. This is the very reason so many QCDN users are always upset. Moderators are constantly flexing their powers when it serves their purpose and treat everyone with a different amount of courtesy.

Of course, it would be best to actually read the threa before posting in it where it is noted neither of the Kaizen members that are Moderators on this forum deleted the post. With that knowledge in hand it kinda breaks your argument. Everyone is always looking for some reason to blame someone else for them getting punished.

That's basically what your saying right? I mean you do want a world of clones running around yelling about how even though their gear is the same as everyone else's, it better. YAYAYA let's all jump on the bandwagon to glory.
